The guy ran 38 00:02:14.879 --> 00:02:19.240 out of money, he died, it was left unfinished. His 39 00:02:19.400 --> 00:02:22.599 son took over. The guy who built Mount Rushmore worked 40 00:02:22.599 --> 00:02:23.719 on it four months. 41 00:02:23.439 --> 00:02:27.879 And gave up. Now, throughout 72 00:04:08.280 --> 00:04:10.919 history there have been a lot of victorious statements. When the religious leaders heard Jesus 111 00:06:28.600 --> 00:06:33.000 say it is finished, they're thinking, our, our competition is finished. 112 00:06:33.680 --> 00:06:35.839 We've gotten rid of him because. 113 00:06:35.560 --> 00:06:38.600 He was far more popular than we were, and we didn't. 114 00:06:38.639 --> 00:06:41.920 They envied Jesus and they said he's finished. Now, first thing I want to explain 143 00:08:28.439 --> 00:08:30.839 to you is that this phrase it has finished. These 144 00:08:30.839 --> 00:08:34.519 three words in the Bible, which was originally the New Testament, 145 00:08:34.559 --> 00:08:38.720 was written in Greek, is only one word. It's one word. 146 00:08:39.080 --> 00:08:42.759 We translate it it is finished. But when Jesus shouted 147 00:08:42.840 --> 00:08:46.360 it is finished, he actually said the word to tell 148 00:08:46.440 --> 00:08:51.000 u sty, to tell us sty, and he cried out 149 00:08:51.039 --> 00:08:53.919 at the top of his voice, to tell a sty. Now, 150 00:08:53.960 --> 00:08:58.639 in ancient Greek, to tell a sty was a beautiful word. 151 00:08:59.720 --> 00:09:01.159 It was a well known word. 152 00:09:01.360 --> 00:09:03.679 It was a common word, and it had a lot 153 00:09:03.720 --> 00:09:08.399 of different usages. A judge, actually 169 00:09:54.759 --> 00:09:57.559 this is a judicial term too. Now, last week or a couple 226 00:13:17.879 --> 00:13:19.639 weeks ago, I talked to you about that in the 227 00:13:19.679 --> 00:13:22.840 Old Testament for thousands of years, God had been predicting 228 00:13:22.879 --> 00:13:24.720 that he was going to send a savior. And there 229 00:13:24.759 --> 00:13:27.759 are over three hundred and eighty of these predictions. They're 230 00:13:27.799 --> 00:13:30.960 called prophecies, three hundred and eighty of these predictions over 231 00:13:31.039 --> 00:13:33.159 thousands of years. He said, here's how you're going to 232 00:13:33.200 --> 00:13:35.720 know when it's me coming to earth. And he has 233 00:13:35.759 --> 00:13:38.440 all these conditions, And we went through that a couple 234 00:13:38.480 --> 00:13:41.559 of weeks ago, three hundred and eighty prophecies about the 235 00:13:41.600 --> 00:13:44.759 coming Savior, the coming Messiah. But there are not only 236 00:13:44.840 --> 00:13:49.559 prophecies or predictions in the Bible. There are promises, and 237 00:13:49.600 --> 00:13:54.000 there are many, many promises. And Jesus, when he dies 238 00:13:54.039 --> 00:13:57.639 on the cross, fulfills every promise that God has made 239 00:13:57.919 --> 00:14:00.559 to you. Let me show you a couple verses Luke, 240 00:14:00.639 --> 00:14:06.360 chapter twenty four Jesus said, this. By the way, this 241 00:14:06.440 --> 00:14:10.440 story that I'm reading happens after the cross. He's resurrected, 242 00:14:10.600 --> 00:14:13.279 and he's actually walking down the street a few days later, 243 00:14:13.360 --> 00:14:16.320 the week after he's died on the cross. So Jesus said, 244 00:14:16.360 --> 00:14:18.879 this is on the road to Amis.
