The first one he fulfilled what 61 00:03:27.879 --> 00:03:30.639 God had promised us. He fulfilled all the scripture, all 62 00:03:30.639 --> 00:03:32.560 the prophecies, all of the promises. 63 00:03:32.719 --> 00:03:34.719 Number two, this is a big one. 64 00:03:34.840 --> 00:03:42.439 He's satisfied what God's justice required. He satisfied what God's 65 00:03:43.000 --> 00:03:44.680 justice required. 66 00:03:44.719 --> 00:03:45.800 Now, let me explain this to you. 67 00:03:46.719 --> 00:03:50.919 God is a God of justice. He is imminently fair. 68 00:03:51.319 --> 00:03:56.159 God cannot be unfair. God is a god of justice 69 00:03:56.639 --> 00:04:02.919 and truth and righteousness and wines and always does what's 70 00:04:03.039 --> 00:04:05.599 right and can never do what's wrong. So God is 71 00:04:05.639 --> 00:04:08.639 a God of justice, and God is a God of order, 72 00:04:08.840 --> 00:04:11.199 and God is a god of laws, and God is 73 00:04:11.240 --> 00:04:14.560 a God of fairness. Now, the only reason the universe 74 00:04:14.639 --> 00:04:19.680 works is because that's God's nature. God wired the universe 75 00:04:19.959 --> 00:04:24.439 to run on certain laws. There are laws of physics. 76 00:04:25.319 --> 00:04:29.399 God designed them all. There are laws in astronomy, there 77 00:04:29.399 --> 00:04:34.160 are laws in chemistry. There are laws in the environment. 78 00:04:35.319 --> 00:04:38.720 There are physical laws. There's the law of gravity. How 79 00:04:38.759 --> 00:04:40.879 about if the law of gravity just worked every other 80 00:04:40.959 --> 00:04:47.800 day and it was totally unreliable. God's laws always work 81 00:04:48.319 --> 00:04:53.079 all the time, and so God designed the entire universe 82 00:04:53.399 --> 00:04:56.360 so that rotations work, and gravity's work, and the laws 83 00:04:56.399 --> 00:05:01.000 of thermodynamics work. All of God's laws are immutable. Now 84 00:05:01.040 --> 00:05:03.800 there are physical laws. Laws of physics has said they 85 00:05:03.839 --> 00:05:09.720 are physical laws. There are spiritual laws, there are moral laws, 86 00:05:10.199 --> 00:05:14.000 and there are relational laws. God is a god of 87 00:05:14.279 --> 00:05:18.399 justice and law. Now, God gave the moral laws to 88 00:05:18.519 --> 00:05:22.240 Moses and to the nation of Israel, to the Jews, 89 00:05:22.879 --> 00:05:25.399 and the Jews were to take the moral laws and 90 00:05:25.560 --> 00:05:28.839 share them with everybody else. You've heard the phrase that 91 00:05:28.920 --> 00:05:30.720 the Jews are God's chosen people. 92 00:05:30.800 --> 00:05:33.240 It's true. What were they chosen to do? 93 00:05:34.560 --> 00:05:39.519 They were chosen to be the purveyors or the ambassadors 94 00:05:39.560 --> 00:05:42.879 of God's moral law to everybody else, those of us 95 00:05:42.879 --> 00:05:45.839 who are not Jews. That's what they were chosen to do. 96 00:05:47.040 --> 00:05:49.160 To take the word of God, and to take the 97 00:05:49.199 --> 00:05:52.519 truth of God, and to pass on the laws of 98 00:05:52.560 --> 00:05:57.720 God to everybody else. Now, human beings, we you and I, 99 00:05:57.959 --> 00:06:02.439 we have two problems with the laws of God. Number one, 100 00:06:02.720 --> 00:06:04.680 we are completely unable to keep them all. 101 00:06:06.360 --> 00:06:07.639 We just can't keep them all. 102 00:06:07.959 --> 00:06:11.639 In fact, here's what the Bible says Romans chapter eight. 103 00:06:11.759 --> 00:06:16.759 The law of Moses could not save us because our 104 00:06:16.839 --> 00:06:21.000 sinful nature. But God put into effect a different plan. 105 00:06:21.959 --> 00:06:22.879 This is like a plan b. 106 00:06:23.360 --> 00:06:25.879 God put into effect a different plan to save us. 107 00:06:26.160 --> 00:06:30.360 He sent his own son in a human body like ours, 108 00:06:31.000 --> 00:06:34.800 except that ours are sinful, and God destroyed sins control 109 00:06:34.879 --> 00:06:40.279 over us by giving his son as a sacrifice for 110 00:06:40.399 --> 00:06:40.920 our sins. 111 00:06:41.079 --> 00:06:42.319 That's what he was doing on the cross. 112 00:06:43.519 --> 00:06:47.360 He did this so that the requirement of the law 113 00:06:47.639 --> 00:06:53.319 would be fully accomplished, finished, satisfied, completed for us, who 114 00:06:53.439 --> 00:06:55.639 no longer follow our own sinful nature but. 115 00:06:55.560 --> 00:06:58.279 Instead follow the spirits. What the rest of that verse. 116 00:06:58.079 --> 00:07:03.720 Says, Now, Jesus is the only person in human history 117 00:07:04.000 --> 00:07:07.519 who ever kept all of God's law perfectly, because he 118 00:07:07.759 --> 00:07:12.199 was the son of God. Now, the first problem we 119 00:07:12.240 --> 00:07:14.319 have is that we're completely unable to keep all of 120 00:07:14.720 --> 00:07:18.120 God's laws. The second problem with God is this, justice 121 00:07:18.240 --> 00:07:24.240 demands that law breakers pay the consequences. You don't have laws, 122 00:07:24.240 --> 00:07:27.399 and then if you break it them, nothing happens. There 123 00:07:27.439 --> 00:07:30.240 are certain laws. There are laws of sleep. If you 124 00:07:30.240 --> 00:07:32.720 don't get enough sleep, your body pays for it. 125 00:07:34.279 --> 00:07:34.920 There are laws. 126 00:07:35.199 --> 00:07:37.480 If you don't exercise, your body pays for it. If 127 00:07:37.519 --> 00:07:39.639 you eat the wrong foods, your body pay for it. 128 00:07:40.079 --> 00:07:42.560 You are free on this planet to do anything you 129 00:07:42.600 --> 00:07:44.920 want to. God gives you that freedom, but you are 130 00:07:44.959 --> 00:07:49.240 not free from the consequences. I'm free to go out 131 00:07:49.319 --> 00:07:54.720 get drunk, cause accidents blow up buildings, steal things, live 132 00:07:54.759 --> 00:07:57.720 a totally licentious, self centered life, and. 133 00:07:57.680 --> 00:07:58.560 I'm free to do that. 134 00:07:58.600 --> 00:08:00.800 God gives me that freedom, it does not give me 135 00:08:00.839 --> 00:08:05.240 the freedom from the consequences of it. And every kick 136 00:08:05.279 --> 00:08:07.959 has a kick back, and there is a payoff, and 137 00:08:08.319 --> 00:08:13.319 justice demands that law breakers pay a penalty. Romans tend for Christ ended the law law 153 00:09:01.240 --> 00:09:04.639 so that everyone who believes in him may be right 154 00:09:04.960 --> 00:09:09.879 with God. Now circle that phrase ended the law. Did 155 00:09:09.919 --> 00:09:13.039 you know That's what God did when he let Jesus 156 00:09:13.120 --> 00:09:16.240 down the cross? He ended the law. Let me explain it now. 160 00:09:21.600 --> 00:09:24.200 I want you to listen really closely, because the world 161 00:09:24.240 --> 00:09:28.240 gets this wrong all the time. There are three kinds 162 00:09:28.279 --> 00:09:32.519 of law in the Bible. There's legal law for the 163 00:09:32.639 --> 00:09:37.000 nation of Israel, there's ceremonial law for the worship of Israel, 164 00:09:37.440 --> 00:09:42.039 and there's moral law for everybody in the whole world. Okay, 165 00:09:42.399 --> 00:09:46.399 there are legal laws in the book, in the Old 166 00:09:46.519 --> 00:09:49.679 Testament books that are for the nation of Israel. You're 167 00:09:49.720 --> 00:09:53.600 not obligated to fulfill those laws. You're not a Jew, 168 00:09:54.159 --> 00:09:57.080 you don't live in Israel, and you weren't living in 169 00:09:57.080 --> 00:09:59.320 the time where there's the theocracy of God being the 170 00:09:59.399 --> 00:10:00.000 King of Israel. 171 00:10:00.960 --> 00:10:01.840 You're not obligated. 172 00:10:02.320 --> 00:10:05.639 And then they're ceremonial roles in the Book of Leviticus. 173 00:10:05.720 --> 00:10:07.080 Anybody ever read that book. 174 00:10:08.200 --> 00:10:13.320 Okay, there's some strange rules in there. Okay, rules of hygiene, 175 00:10:14.000 --> 00:10:16.960 rules of health, rules of the kind of clothes you're 176 00:10:16.960 --> 00:10:19.679 supposed to wear, rules, the way you're supposed to do 177 00:10:19.759 --> 00:10:23.120 worship in the temple, and all that. That was the 178 00:10:23.240 --> 00:10:27.240 ceremonial law for the nation of Israel. You're not obligated 179 00:10:27.279 --> 00:10:31.240 to keep those. You're not at ISRAELI and you're not 180 00:10:31.799 --> 00:10:38.399 under that system. God ended that system into that system. Now, 181 00:10:38.440 --> 00:10:41.960 the moral laws are still in effect. You can't murder, 182 00:10:42.039 --> 00:10:44.960 you can't lie, you can't commit adultery. Those are the 183 00:10:45.000 --> 00:10:48.919 big ones, and those are always an effect. And what 184 00:10:49.039 --> 00:10:51.919 happens is is people will come up to you and say, 185 00:10:52.039 --> 00:10:54.120 what about the law that says da da da da 186 00:10:54.200 --> 00:10:56.039 da da, And you say, well, that's a ceremonial law. 187 00:10:57.399 --> 00:10:59.840 Well that's a national law.
