It's been growing, growing, 94 00:05:42.480 --> 00:05:46.040 growing for years. He said. There's documents down for eleven years. 95 00:05:46.040 --> 00:05:47.879 We're trying to get all his documents, but I've seen 96 00:05:47.920 --> 00:05:50.600 him for several years, and it's certainly been growing from 97 00:05:50.639 --> 00:05:54.560 one to almost five centimeters with lymph nodes now, which 98 00:05:54.639 --> 00:05:57.920 weren't there in the past. His kidney doctor is supposed 99 00:05:57.920 --> 00:06:01.319 to be a specialist in kidney disease, never told him 100 00:06:01.399 --> 00:06:05.519 about this mass that needed attention. His urologist, as a 101 00:06:05.560 --> 00:06:09.199 surgeon who operates on the kidney, is someone who's never 102 00:06:09.439 --> 00:06:13.360 told him about this mass in the kidney. Now, what 103 00:06:13.439 --> 00:06:15.319 could be the cause of that. Well, either they could 104 00:06:15.319 --> 00:06:17.519 not have even looked at it. They say, hey, he's 105 00:06:17.639 --> 00:06:19.560 ninety five and he looks like a million bucks, and 106 00:06:19.560 --> 00:06:21.480 he'll tell you that he feels like a million bucks. 107 00:06:21.639 --> 00:06:25.439 He'll tell you that. Or they looked at it and said, well, 108 00:06:25.480 --> 00:06:29.079 he's got this terrible cancer in the kidney. And they 109 00:06:29.079 --> 00:06:32.120 don't know what to do. And so rather than saying, hey, 110 00:06:32.199 --> 00:06:35.720 let's get an expert or maybe called doctor Liederman, they 111 00:06:35.800 --> 00:06:38.879 just told him everything's okay. Remember I had a growing 112 00:06:38.920 --> 00:06:42.040 mass in the kidney now with lymphanodes, and no one 113 00:06:42.319 --> 00:06:45.879 raised the red flag. And this is a man who's a smoker. 127 00:07:27.759 --> 00:07:31.720 He smokes cigars, and smoking is a risk factor for 128 00:07:32.040 --> 00:07:36.000 cancer and the kidneys. I've seen cancer in people who 129 00:07:36.000 --> 00:07:39.360 are smokers. I've seen cancer of the kidney and people 130 00:07:39.360 --> 00:07:42.199 who are not smokers. I've seen cancer and kidney who 131 00:07:42.199 --> 00:07:45.399 were non smokers but their parents were smokers. They grew 132 00:07:45.439 --> 00:07:48.680 up in a household where for twenty years their parents 133 00:07:48.720 --> 00:07:50.720 were smoking. Some of them even say the walls in 134 00:07:50.759 --> 00:07:53.480 the kitchen were yellow from all the smoke. And I've 135 00:07:53.519 --> 00:07:59.240 seen non smokers whose spouse smoked at home who developed 136 00:07:59.279 --> 00:08:01.560 kidney cancer. And again, you don't have to be a 137 00:08:01.600 --> 00:08:05.560 smoker to have kidney cancer. So what are the warning signs? Well, 138 00:08:05.639 --> 00:08:09.800 sometimes it's blood in the urine. Sometimes it's abdominal pain 139 00:08:10.160 --> 00:08:13.759 or weight loss, and this man had none of those 140 00:08:14.160 --> 00:08:16.920 until this year when he started having blood in the 141 00:08:17.079 --> 00:08:20.199 urine and he apparently told his son, and then his 142 00:08:20.319 --> 00:08:24.240 sons called me, and I said, hey, we better get attention. 143 00:08:24.519 --> 00:08:27.319 And he said, Doctor Liederman, are you willing to take 144 00:08:27.399 --> 00:08:31.720 my father, my beloved father? The cratning is a measure of how the 159 00:09:20.120 --> 00:09:23.519 kidney's function. His cratning's been going up. While his kidney doctors looking at him and 164 00:09:35.200 --> 00:09:39.200 his surgeon doctor is looking at him, nothing's being done 165 00:09:39.200 --> 00:09:42.200 about his kidney failure. Nothing's being done about the mass 166 00:09:42.240 --> 00:09:45.879 and the kidney, nothing's being done about the lymphodes. We also the time of getting a 176 00:10:16.440 --> 00:10:18.679 pet scan, we got up what's called a whole body 177 00:10:18.679 --> 00:10:21.440 pet scan, which is an unusual pet scan, but it's 178 00:10:21.440 --> 00:10:24.519 in a pet scan to make up for a cat scan, 179 00:10:24.679 --> 00:10:26.960 a pet scan and a bone scan, so we can 180 00:10:27.000 --> 00:10:29.279 look at all the bones, and sure enough, he has 181 00:10:29.360 --> 00:10:33.559 cancer to travel to the bones, to the lymphanodes. It's 182 00:10:33.639 --> 00:10:36.440 cancering the kidney and cancer in the prostate, and there's 183 00:10:36.440 --> 00:10:41.000 also a mass in the bladder. Now, bladder cancers are 184 00:10:41.000 --> 00:10:44.240 also known to occur more commonly in smokers, and as 185 00:10:44.279 --> 00:10:46.960 I talked about a minute ago, he's been the cigar 186 00:10:47.000 --> 00:10:52.039 smoker for much of his ninety five years. So now 187 00:10:52.080 --> 00:10:54.799 there's a possibility of even a third cancer in him, 188 00:10:55.480 --> 00:11:00.720 most likely prostate, most likely kidney, and now the possibility 189 00:11:00.720 --> 00:11:03.320 of a bladder cancer. And so what are we doing 190 00:11:03.360 --> 00:11:05.120 to help this man? And this is a man who's 191 00:11:05.200 --> 00:11:08.039 ninety five, and he is fully active. If you saw 192 00:11:08.120 --> 00:11:10.919 him walking down the street, you'd say sixty five, runs 193 00:11:10.919 --> 00:11:16.919 a business, very successful, beautifully dressed, beautifully beautiful life, beautiful family. 194 00:11:17.559 --> 00:11:19.440 And so what are we doing for him? Well, Number one, 195 00:11:19.480 --> 00:11:25.679 we're ranging immediately a biopsy of the kidney to confirm 196 00:11:25.720 --> 00:11:27.679 the diagnoses. And a biopsy of the kidney can be 197 00:11:27.679 --> 00:11:30.639 done easily with a little needle and the kidney. We're 198 00:11:30.679 --> 00:11:33.240 also biopsy at the same time one of those lymphodes 199 00:11:33.279 --> 00:11:36.600 to prove that it's cancer from the kidney to the 200 00:11:36.679 --> 00:11:39.360 lymph node or whatever the diagnosis is.
