But as I 34 00:02:10.439 --> 00:02:12.960 shared on the show yesterday, when Bobby Kennedy picked up 35 00:02:13.039 --> 00:02:18.879 a poor black child in Appalachia, I think it was 36 00:02:18.919 --> 00:02:21.520 it may have even been in the South, the country 37 00:02:21.639 --> 00:02:25.680 kind of said, well, in terms of the media, poor 38 00:02:25.680 --> 00:02:29.439 black baby. But when he picked up a poor black child, 39 00:02:29.719 --> 00:02:34.400 a poor white child in Appalachia, the country then responded 40 00:02:34.560 --> 00:02:39.319 with some very images. We tend to organize people historically. And then we Doctor King would argue 185 00:12:05.759 --> 00:12:11.799 that we needed a spiritual integration, which is a care neighbor, 186 00:12:11.799 --> 00:12:15.919 a care for community, regardless of a person's race, sex, 187 00:12:16.080 --> 00:12:19.960 or class, and he used the story of the Samaritan 188 00:12:20.039 --> 00:12:23.440 to make the case for what that really really represents 189 00:12:23.480 --> 00:12:26.360 and what that really what that really means. But then Diallo, as an American who 200 00:13:14.279 --> 00:13:17.360 does not live in Silicon Valley by happenstance of my 201 00:13:17.480 --> 00:13:21.000 birth or zip code I live in on the South 202 00:13:21.000 --> 00:13:23.320 side of Chicago, I live in Harlem, or I live 203 00:13:23.360 --> 00:13:28.600 in Compton, Los Angeles, or I live in Crenshaw neighborhoods, 204 00:13:29.279 --> 00:13:32.200 And there is no Apple, there is no Microsoft, there 205 00:13:32.279 --> 00:13:36.519 is no Amazon, there is no no one's paying local 206 00:13:36.600 --> 00:13:40.080 property taxes that make public education commensurate with what children 207 00:13:40.159 --> 00:13:44.600 are receiving where these corporate headquarters are. There is a 208 00:13:44.919 --> 00:13:49.960 kind of forced segregation that the economic system itself creates 209 00:13:50.480 --> 00:13:55.639 by where corporations and businesses choose to locate. They have to build factories as 213 00:14:13.360 --> 00:14:19.399 well as equipment and packaging handling facilities that can pay 214 00:14:19.679 --> 00:14:24.080 local property taxes to help offset the burden that people 215 00:14:24.080 --> 00:14:27.600 who are living in ghettos, in neighborhoods and communities that 216 00:14:27.679 --> 00:14:30.679 are failing. I don't have the answer. I'm sixty years old, 217 00:14:30.759 --> 00:14:33.600 I've got more Yesterday's than tomorrow. I probably won't live 218 00:14:33.600 --> 00:14:36.000 to be one hundred and twenty. And 261 00:17:17.359 --> 00:17:20.359 in fact, many of us, you know, are in government 262 00:17:20.440 --> 00:17:23.319 and community affairs to try to make sure that there's 263 00:17:23.359 --> 00:17:26.720 a balance between community and what the corporation is doing 264 00:17:26.839 --> 00:17:30.480 as it makes money. But that's uh you know, that 265 00:17:30.559 --> 00:17:36.519 has dwindled. Roles have dwindled, the care of the responsibility 266 00:17:36.920 --> 00:17:41.599 has dwindled, but all and all but disappeared.
