Now, what in the 22 00:01:07.480 --> 00:01:10.680 world does that mean? You anoint my head with oil? 23 00:01:11.280 --> 00:01:13.879 This was written three thousand years ago. That's anointing. It's a symbol of 92 00:05:07.360 --> 00:05:10.639 God's spirit, the Holy Spirit. It's a symbol of God's presence. 93 00:05:10.959 --> 00:05:14.079 It's a symbol of God's blessing on your life. It's a symbol of God's presence, of 96 00:05:20.439 --> 00:05:24.720 God's protection, of God's promises. Now in the Bible. 102 00:05:43.160 --> 00:05:44.959 In the Old Testament, the old part of the Bible, 103 00:05:46.120 --> 00:05:48.879 only three kinds of people got anointed with oil. And even today, kings 106 00:05:54.120 --> 00:05:57.240 are still anointed with oil, even thousands of years later, 107 00:05:57.519 --> 00:06:01.600 as a symbol of God's blessing, God approval, God's giving 108 00:06:01.639 --> 00:06:05.000 them authority and things like that. And the only people 109 00:06:05.040 --> 00:06:08.600 who could actually do it were the priest. Nobody else 110 00:06:08.680 --> 00:06:10.920 was allowed to anoint in the Old Testament. It's called your calling, your calling. You may be called 157 00:08:39.360 --> 00:08:41.879 to be a marine biologist, but it's a calling. You 158 00:08:41.919 --> 00:08:44.399 may be called to be a taxi driver or a banker, 159 00:08:44.600 --> 00:08:47.559 or an investor, or a homemaker or a teacher or 160 00:08:47.559 --> 00:08:52.120 a nurse, or an artist or a musician. Everybody who's 161 00:08:52.159 --> 00:08:56.720 alive has a calling by God on their life. Now 162 00:08:56.720 --> 00:08:58.480 many people miss that calling and they go off and 163 00:08:58.519 --> 00:09:01.000 do their own thing, and that's why they're unhappy. That's 164 00:09:01.039 --> 00:09:04.279 why they're unsatisfied. That's why they're unfulfilled. Because you'll never 165 00:09:04.320 --> 00:09:06.919 be fulfilled doing your plan. You're only going to be 166 00:09:06.919 --> 00:09:10.080 fulfilled if you figure out what is God calling me 167 00:09:10.559 --> 00:09:14.799 to do. Some people think that God only calls missionaries 168 00:09:14.799 --> 00:09:18.919 and priests and you know, nuns and pastors and people 169 00:09:18.960 --> 00:09:21.720 who do church work. No, no, no, no, no. Everybody 170 00:09:21.960 --> 00:09:24.759 has a calling on their life. You could be called 171 00:09:24.759 --> 00:09:26.799 to be a businessman. You could be called to be 172 00:09:26.799 --> 00:09:29.519 a politician. You could be called to be a salesperson. 173 00:09:30.200 --> 00:09:34.679 And what God calls you to do? Listen, He wants 174 00:09:34.720 --> 00:09:38.720 to anoint you to do. Let me show you some verses. First, 175 00:09:38.759 --> 00:09:41.360 look up here on the screen. The Bible says this 176 00:09:41.600 --> 00:09:44.559 in the Book of Ephesians, that God made us what 177 00:09:44.600 --> 00:09:47.480 we are. He wired yous. You like sales, you like math, 178 00:09:47.559 --> 00:09:53.039 you like music, you like instrumentation, you like organizing. Your administrator, 179 00:09:53.320 --> 00:09:56.919 God made you what you are, and in Christ Jesus, 180 00:09:57.320 --> 00:10:01.320 God created us, each of us to do good works, 181 00:10:01.799 --> 00:10:05.279 which He planned in advance for us to live our 182 00:10:05.360 --> 00:10:08.000 lives doing. Do you realize that before you're even born, 183 00:10:09.320 --> 00:10:12.879 God planned the calling on your life. He planned the 184 00:10:12.879 --> 00:10:17.519 purpose on your life. Now that's very very important, and 185 00:10:17.559 --> 00:10:20.279 this is where fulfillment and meaning and purpose come from. 186 00:10:20.879 --> 00:10:26.039 But here's the catch. You cannot fulfill your calling the 187 00:10:26.080 --> 00:10:29.480 way God wants you to on your own power. You 188 00:10:29.639 --> 00:10:34.399 need what is called God's anointing. And anointing is the 189 00:10:34.440 --> 00:10:37.440 power and the insight and the energy and all those 190 00:10:37.440 --> 00:10:40.440 things that I mentioned earlier that allow you to do 191 00:10:41.159 --> 00:10:43.720 what God wants you to do. Okay, Number one, here are six things I've 201 00:11:15.879 --> 00:11:20.279 learned about God's anointing on my life. Number one, when 202 00:11:20.320 --> 00:11:24.559 God appoints me, he anoints me. That's the first thing 203 00:11:24.559 --> 00:11:28.639 we learn. When God appoints me, he anoints me. God 204 00:11:28.720 --> 00:11:30.919 never asked you to do something without providing what you 205 00:11:31.000 --> 00:11:34.600 need to do it. When he gives you assignment, he's 206 00:11:34.639 --> 00:11:37.559 going to give you the empowerment. When he gives you 207 00:11:37.600 --> 00:11:39.559 a plan, he's going to give you the power to 208 00:11:39.559 --> 00:11:42.720 do it. When he gives you a strategy, he's going 209 00:11:42.799 --> 00:11:48.600 to give you his spirit. God's anointing comes with God's 210 00:11:48.679 --> 00:11:51.720 appointing and the anointing that God wants to give you 211 00:11:51.759 --> 00:11:55.039 in your life. New power, new energy, new insight only 212 00:11:55.240 --> 00:11:58.600 happen when you start doing using it for what He 213 00:11:58.679 --> 00:12:02.120 wants to give it to you. For God has promised 214 00:12:02.200 --> 00:12:03.919 to help you out. If God calls you to do 215 00:12:04.000 --> 00:12:06.720 something and you're scared to death, you feel incompetent or 216 00:12:07.039 --> 00:12:10.559 incapable or inadequate, God says, that's okay. Look at these 217 00:12:10.639 --> 00:12:15.519 verses first, Thessalonians five twenty four. The one who calls you, 218 00:12:15.720 --> 00:12:20.879 that's God is faithful. God is faithful, and he will 219 00:12:21.279 --> 00:12:25.000 do it. What does that verse mean? Whatever God calls 220 00:12:25.000 --> 00:12:26.840 you to do, He's going to give you the ability 221 00:12:26.879 --> 00:12:28.519 to do. He's going to help you do it. He's 222 00:12:28.559 --> 00:12:30.879 going to put his spirit in you. And if God 223 00:12:31.120 --> 00:12:35.960 says to do it, you can count on his anointing. Faithful, 224 00:12:36.120 --> 00:12:38.440 the one who calls you, he's going to do it. 225 00:12:39.159 --> 00:12:41.600 A good example of this would be when God gave 226 00:12:41.639 --> 00:12:46.120 the very first assignment to his very first followers, the 227 00:12:46.159 --> 00:12:48.919 first twelve Disciples. Look up here on the screen Acts 228 00:12:49.000 --> 00:12:53.080 Chapter one, verse eight says this, you will receive power 229 00:12:53.759 --> 00:12:58.039 when the Holy Spirit comes on you. That's anointing, and 230 00:12:58.200 --> 00:13:01.960 you will be my witnesses to the ends of the earth. 231 00:13:02.080 --> 00:13:05.399 Now that when Jesus gave that assignment to disciples was 232 00:13:05.440 --> 00:13:08.759 an impossible assignment. There was no way they could possibly 233 00:13:08.759 --> 00:13:12.159 go to the end of the earth. There were no planes, trains, automobiles, 234 00:13:12.200 --> 00:13:14.480 no ocean bearing vessels. How now were they going to 235 00:13:14.519 --> 00:13:17.000 get to Australia from the Middle East. How are they 236 00:13:17.039 --> 00:13:19.559 going to get to South America or North America. It 237 00:13:19.679 --> 00:13:23.559 was physically impossible. God will often give you an assignment 238 00:13:23.600 --> 00:13:26.840 that physically looks impossible, but he says, I'm gonna make 239 00:13:26.879 --> 00:13:29.039 it possible, and We're going to figure out a way 240 00:13:29.080 --> 00:13:31.639 to do this, and I'm going to empower you. So 241 00:13:31.759 --> 00:13:38.039 God says, my appointment comes, or my assignment comes with 242 00:13:38.279 --> 00:13:42.120 an anointing that goes right along with it. Okay, Number two. 243 00:13:42.519 --> 00:13:46.039 Here's the second thing we learned. God's anointing makes me 244 00:13:46.200 --> 00:13:50.200 a better person. If you think you're good now, it's 245 00:13:50.320 --> 00:13:54.480 nothing compared to what you could be with God's anointing 246 00:13:55.200 --> 00:14:01.000 on your life. God's anointing transforms you. It changes you 247 00:14:01.320 --> 00:14:04.399 from the inside out. It gives you abilities you did 248 00:14:04.440 --> 00:14:08.039 not have on your own. Now again, there are many, 249 00:14:08.039 --> 00:14:11.600 many examples of this when somebody is anointed as a 250 00:14:11.679 --> 00:14:14.759 king or prophet or whatever that all of a sudden 251 00:14:14.799 --> 00:14:17.399 they got new abilities and their life was turned around 252 00:14:17.440 --> 00:14:20.559 and changed because of the anointing. Here's a good example. 253 00:14:20.799 --> 00:14:24.720 In First Samuel, chapter ten, Samuel is a prophet and 254 00:14:24.840 --> 00:14:27.480 the first king of Israel is a guy named Saul. 255 00:14:27.919 --> 00:14:31.039 Saul felt very inadequate. He thought I could never be 256 00:14:31.080 --> 00:14:33.759 a king, and in verse one, it is chapter ten, 257 00:14:33.799 --> 00:14:38.720 it says this. Then Samuel took oil and poured it 258 00:14:38.759 --> 00:14:43.919 on Saul's head, and he said, God has anointed you 259 00:14:44.679 --> 00:14:48.240 this outward symbol of an inward commitment. God has anointed 260 00:14:48.240 --> 00:14:52.519 you to be the leader of his people. Now Saul 261 00:14:52.759 --> 00:14:55.200 is annointed, but he still doesn't believe it. He's still insecure. 262 00:14:55.600 --> 00:14:58.080 And so Samuel goes, I'm going to give you several signs, 263 00:14:58.080 --> 00:15:00.440 and over the next several verses, says this is gonna happen, 264 00:15:00.440 --> 00:15:01.879 and this is gonna happen, and this is gonna happen. 265 00:15:02.120 --> 00:15:05.440 And then down in verse six he says, here's the 266 00:15:05.480 --> 00:15:09.799 thing that's going to confirm your calling.
