I you know, 87 00:05:16.240 --> 00:05:18.639 I've got I worked for the Christic Institute, and we're 88 00:05:19.160 --> 00:05:23.720 suing over the fact that the CIA is helping, you know, 89 00:05:23.920 --> 00:05:27.759 bring cocaine in front to the United States from Nicaragua 90 00:05:27.839 --> 00:05:30.399 and the contrast. And so she gave me a whole 91 00:05:30.439 --> 00:05:33.839 like Senate report on that from Senator John Kerrey, who 92 00:05:33.920 --> 00:05:36.519 was more honest at that time before you you know, 93 00:05:36.600 --> 00:05:41.800 ran for president. And so here was evidence that what 94 00:05:42.040 --> 00:05:44.319 some of my you know, people I counseled were saying 95 00:05:44.439 --> 00:05:46.639 was right that, yeah, this is nineteen ninety one and 96 00:05:46.680 --> 00:05:50.199 they were already finding out that the CIA was trafficking cocaine. 97 00:05:50.959 --> 00:05:54.600 And then Gary Webb kind of blew it all open 98 00:05:54.600 --> 00:05:57.800 in nineteen ninety five or so or ninety six, you know, 99 00:05:57.920 --> 00:06:02.560 with his viralting on that. And then I met a CIA 106 00:06:25.800 --> 00:06:29.519 agent named John Stockwell who was lecturing in Baltimore, who 107 00:06:29.560 --> 00:06:33.959 said that he knows, you know, his fellow CI officers 108 00:06:34.000 --> 00:06:38.759 were trafficking heroin from the Vietnam area where we're at war, 109 00:06:38.920 --> 00:06:42.079 into the United States. Hotchner was the one time editor for Ernest 144 00:09:06.039 --> 00:09:10.759 Hemingway and so he was great, great writer himself, and 145 00:09:11.679 --> 00:09:14.639 the oral history of this is really well done.
