And I eventually tied 96 00:05:21.160 --> 00:05:24.759 this man to a nineteen fifty six lovers Lane double 97 00:05:24.839 --> 00:05:28.759 murder that happened here in Great Falls. And let's talk 107 00:06:03.720 --> 00:06:06.879 about this case a little bit and how this really 108 00:06:06.920 --> 00:06:09.879 happened and who came forward. So let's talk about this 109 00:06:09.959 --> 00:06:14.439 news story that was in Madison, Wisconsin, generated from a 110 00:06:14.480 --> 00:06:18.079 newspaper there. Tell us why they ran this story, this 111 00:06:18.120 --> 00:06:21.079 thirty year old cold case, and what it contained, and 112 00:06:21.120 --> 00:06:23.720 then what was the result of them running case in 113 00:06:23.800 --> 00:06:26.399 terms of people contacting the police. Tell us a little 114 00:06:26.399 --> 00:06:27.639 bit about that. First. 115 00:06:28.800 --> 00:06:31.079 Certainly, it was a double lover's lane murder of a 116 00:06:31.120 --> 00:06:34.839 couple in a car in Madison, Wisconsin named Timothy Hack 117 00:06:34.879 --> 00:06:37.399 and Kelly Drew, and it happened on August ninth of 118 00:06:37.480 --> 00:06:42.160 nineteen eighty and Edwards was actually living in Wisconsin nineteen eighty. 119 00:06:42.560 --> 00:06:45.680 But in two thousand and nine of March, Edwards had 120 00:06:45.720 --> 00:06:48.800 a daughter named April who was forty two years old 121 00:06:49.160 --> 00:06:52.240 at that time and was watching TV about a cold 122 00:06:52.240 --> 00:06:56.160 case from nineteen eighty in Wisconsin, and she recalled that 123 00:06:56.240 --> 00:06:58.759 her father had taken her and her brothers to the 124 00:06:58.759 --> 00:07:01.959 scene of that double murder. So in two thousand and nine, 125 00:07:01.959 --> 00:07:03.839 she picks up the phone and she calls the police 126 00:07:03.839 --> 00:07:06.279 and says, I think you should talk to my dad. 127 00:07:05.839 --> 00:07:09.120 We were at that scene and he said there were 128 00:07:09.120 --> 00:07:12.839 bodies there. So the police actually took the evidence from 129 00:07:12.839 --> 00:07:14.879 the case from nineteen eighty and sent it to the 130 00:07:14.959 --> 00:07:18.120 lab and they recovered DNA and it matched Edward Wayne Edwards, 131 00:07:18.519 --> 00:07:21.480 who is seventy six years old in two thousand and nine, 132 00:07:21.879 --> 00:07:24.480 living down in Louisville, Kentucky with his wife who we 133 00:07:24.519 --> 00:07:29.720 had been married to for forty three years. 134 00:07:30.600 --> 00:07:34.959 Now. One of the interesting things about the murder itself was, 135 00:07:35.240 --> 00:07:39.240 and I've never read this actual term, was the hyoid 136 00:07:39.519 --> 00:07:42.560 bone was broken. He was just a 186 00:10:21.960 --> 00:10:27.279 really boltonous looking slog you could say. And he knew 187 00:10:27.320 --> 00:10:30.159 it was up and he always had waited for that 188 00:10:30.240 --> 00:10:32.279 knock on the door from the police. But he was 189 00:10:32.320 --> 00:10:35.320 seventy six years old when it finally came. And when 190 00:10:35.320 --> 00:10:37.600 it came, here's this guy who's three hundred pounds, who 191 00:10:37.639 --> 00:10:42.399 looks horrible, And that's the vision everybody got on Wayne 192 00:10:42.519 --> 00:10:46.159 Edwards was identified as a serial killer. Was this three 193 00:10:46.240 --> 00:10:50.120 hundred pound man totally out of health? And how could 194 00:10:50.159 --> 00:10:53.200 he possibly hurt anybody. What does he do and 207 00:11:41.200 --> 00:11:43.840 is what happens as a result of the request. 208 00:11:45.200 --> 00:11:48.759 He actually submitted to the DNA around June ninth of 209 00:11:48.799 --> 00:11:51.919 two thousand and nine, and on July thirtieth of two 210 00:11:51.919 --> 00:11:54.039 thousand and nine, they got a match on the nineteen 211 00:11:54.080 --> 00:11:56.919 eighty lovers Lane murder in Wisconsin, and it was a 212 00:11:56.919 --> 00:11:59.360 match of his semen found on the pants of the 213 00:11:59.399 --> 00:12:03.600 female that them and the female victim had actually been kidnapped, 214 00:12:04.639 --> 00:12:08.480 tied up risks ankles, hands bound, and stabbed to death 215 00:12:08.519 --> 00:12:12.440 along with the male victim.
