We just skipped right through good old Independence Day twelve forty four. Am here yours truly did put chips in the bag on Day one C of the WSOP main event, bagging up forty five nine hundred. Yes, that is less than the sixty k starting stack. But I went into the last level with eleven thousand, six hundred chips, and I was all in on the third hand of that last level for eleven thousand. Because I was in the big line posted that six hundred big line, Anti got all in Kings versus Ace King held doubled up, went on a nice little late night surge to get back to a respectable stack. Feels like a million. Feels like a million chips in the bag after the day I had. I'll talk a little bit about that later on in the show. Of course, we do want to run through some of the stuff that happened on Day one C of the WSOP main event. Because I was playing, I'm not as in tune with exactly what was going on out there, but I'll do my best. You know, we'll touch on a lot of the other stuff that happened around the World Series of Poker, and then you know, we'll get we'll get up on out of here. Right, It's gonna be Sunday, and Sunday is day one d I would expect the numbers to be through the freaking roof for this final starting flight. All right, Day one C of the Fabulous World Series of Poker Main Event one thousand, five hundred and seventy three entries. That is what the tally said on the board in the app at the end of the day on Saturday. That is down a little bit from last year's Day one. See, last year had sixteen hundred and seventy eight so you're looking at a decrease of six point three percent. Through the first three flights. Each day has been in decline compared to last year. Yes, but these last two starting invites not as bad as that that first one was. You know, that first one was negative sixteen point five percent. Overall, so far, thirty three hundred and eighty three entries have been tallied in the World Series of Poker. Maintament. That does not count the players who are already signed up for Day one D. I'm not not going to include that in that number. At this point. Last year we had three thy six hundred and ninety seven, so you're looking at a decrease of eight and a half percent. You know, earlier we kind of talked when we were talking about Day one A because that one fell with a decrease of sixteen and a half percent. We were saying, and you know, okay, that's kind of in line with the ten to twenty percent range that some of these tournaments that are down have been down. But now just being down eight and a half percent feels okay. You know, when you play this tournament, there's a lot of downtime between hands that that you're actually playing. You know, things are a little bit more drawn out, so the mind does wander a little bit. And at one point I did look up at the board saw the number. This is kind of in the last half of the night or so when I said, you know what, it actually doesn't seem all that bad. Now that I see the number here, you know, the total through the first three flights down eight and a half percent. I don't think that that's that bad. I expect a big number on Day one D So last year, according to Poker News, four thousand, nine hundred and ninety seven entries on Day one d they ended up with I think it was nine thy seven hundred and thirty five. Where was the total number? I talked about this either the last episode or the episode before, but they finished all the starting flights with eighty six hundred and ninety four, So then they got just over one thousand entries for the late redge on the Day twos, right. I have also said that, you know, I think that people are leaning to do the day two redge a little bit more so than we've seen. So overall, eight and a half percent decrease not too bad. It's not up over ten percent like you know, we might have thought when we were coming out of that first starting flight one A. If you think that, you know, you're gonna be able to also make up some ground with more Day two late entry, then overall, I don't I don't think the numbers, you know, all that bad. You know, again, anything around nine thousand above it, you know, even slightly below it, I think is is plenty fine for the World Series of Poker main events. You know, we were always going to kind of see some pullback in one of these years, like either now even last year, if we would have saw it fine or some of the upcoming years. So we're just seeing a little bit more this year, but that's fine, you know, I think things were flying a little bit too high overall, and then we'll see what it gains for Day one D. You know, I know a lot of people are playing. I know that's kind of anecdotal, and you know, you can't really I can't go out there talking to five thousand different people, but I know there are a lot of people that are out there gonna be blasting away on Sunday for Day one D, so we'll see where that number comes in. The number to beat from last year was four nine and ninety seven, so we'll see how it goes. As we've been doing each day, I've been trying to look through the Poker News updates to find what they have reported as the first bust out of the day, and on Day one C it was DeWitt Nakirk who Poker News has reported as the first to bust out of the day. And to be honest, I got no idea how new Kirk busted on this hand because he should not have gone broke. They they being Poker News, caught up with the hand. They're on the river it's ten ten to nine, Ace Jack, don't think there's a fluster on board. Newkirk's got twenty thousand in front of him. Stephen Grainer puts him all in his remaining twenty six. New Kirk says something to the effect is I have to call and then mix the call with Queen eight. Queen eight of hearts for a straight and not even the nut straight because King ten or sorry King Queen, excuse me, it is the nut straight here. Grainer's got a full house with aces and and that's that for DeWitt Na Kirk. I mean, there's several full houses on this board. There's a better straight. I mean, I can't I can't imagine going broke in this sort of fashion. I also just kind of have no idea how this even like ended up like this, you know, I mean, if he had Queen eight, he's chasing a gutter like I mean, it's just wild. Stuff goes down in the WSP main event, especially early on. You just see some absolutely shocking stuff. Julian Bognadov, Lawrence Brandt, Justin Rwin and Freddy Deeb. They all bagged a lot of chips. For much of my day, I was at a table right next to Freddy Deeb's table, and every time I looked over, you know, I do that thing that I've told you guys about before, where when I'm under the gun, if I fold my hand, I stand up, stretch the legs, sit back down to get ready to go for a big blind, small blind, and button, because those are the three most active hands that you regularly play it. Also if you do that every rotation. Now it's a little bit different if you play the hand under the gun. If you're dealt something you tend to miss, you know, getting up from your seat. But I just like to get up and stretch. I don't like to sit all day every day. You know, it's just not that good for you. So I do try and stretch up, or sorry, stand up and stretch a little bit and all that sort of stuff. So every time I would stand up, I kind of would just look over at Freddy Dee's table, and he's had more chips than he had the last time I looked every time, and he went on to bag an absolute freaking pile of chips. I think he bagged two hundred and something thousand. I mean, I don't even know I mean, yeah, two hundred and sixty seven thousand. I mean he was just Freddy deep just over there's absolutely crushing people. Cameras are on him a lot, so I'm sure if you watch the coverage, you probably got to look into his table, but it looked like, you know, Freddy Dee was was the one to catch over there on the feature table. Now I didn't get to watch because I was busy playing, but it sounds like this guy, Jordan Baptiste absolutely stole the show on the stream both with his play. You know, he was making some big plays from what I could call he was getting some big hands, getting people to pay him off. And some of that getting people to pay him off was because his personality, right, he was talkative, he was outgoing, he was colorful, all that sort of stuff. He busted Jamie Gold. He bagged an absolute pile of chips. You start with sixty thousand chips in the WSP main event. He bagged three hundred and fifty seven thousand, and that's a mountain of chips. So I'm excited to see Baptiste when I watch back the coverage. When I'm there every single day, you know, I can't watch all of it. Sometimes, if it's a not playing day and I am at my computer a little bit more, I will have the stream up so I can check in with it, kind of skim through it, find some important points, all that sort of stuff. But once the dobasop ends is when I tend to sit down and really watch the whole thing, like from start to finish, lock in, maybe even make my wife watch it with me and you know, talk through it, even though she'll probably walk out of the room because it's poker and it can be boring to non diehards. But but yeah, I'm excited to watch Baptist and maybe you know, one of the best things about the WSP main event. One of my favorite things about the WASP main event is seeing these personalities, seeing these stories develop early and then seeing what they turn into. You know, years ago we saw it with Nick Rigby, right, you know, we saw him develop. I think the other gentleman's name was Aaron Zang one year right. That was a lot of fun watching him develop. You know, you always kind of see it. I mean, even going way back obviously to Jamie Gold, Like you started to see that earlier and now it was a little bit different back then because it wasn't live throughout. You know, it was cut into episodes, so you could kind of rework the story a little bit. But you know, here you tend to see some people the French guy remain Look, hey, I believe it was just an absolute savage on the fel He's the one who had the He fought the set of nines on Blesnick's aces and then turned quads and cracked him in just an absolutely outrageous pot But you know, stuff like that, just seeing these players develop into two characters, and Jordan Baptiste seems like he's gonna be that guy. Had a nice little interview with Jeff Platt at the end of the day talking about you know how he was a little bit nervous at the start, he kind of settled in and then you know, the deck treated him well and he was able to just get in his groove and do his thing. And when you're bagging three hundred and fifty seven thousand on day one a so almost six starting stacks, there's a good chance you're gonna go kind of deep. You know, I can't say if you know, anyone is gonna even if they bag six starting sacks on day one, they're ultimately gonna make you know, day five, day six, day seven, et cetera. But I mean there's a good chance with this stack, he's for sure around to day three and day right, so getting into the money, and if he's able to have this personality, like it seemed like he had really colorful guy out there, both with his play and his talking, then he's gonna be somebody who's featured a bit more. You know, he's got that that combination of everything where he's got the personality for it, he's got some game, and he's got a boatload of chips. You know, sometimes you don't get all three of those things working for you. Somebody might have. They might be a good player, they might have a lot of personality, but they might you know, be nursing a big blinds. Right, So then that's kind of like, well, you know, can we really feature this player because if they bust, then they're out, you know whatever. But here with Jordan bet Piece, I mean, maybe we've got the recipe for some really cool stuff. So let's see. Maybe he's the next poker star. I mean, heck, you never know, right, you never know who's gonna be that next Jamie Gold, that next Chris Moneymaker. So maybe we're getting a little early look at this. Other than that, I don't think I really have much from day one sea of the w SP main event. I'm gonna take us away from the main event for a second here. I'm gonna go through some of the other news items that happened around the World Series of Poker on Saturday, and then I'll come back and I'll talk a little bit about my day in the WSOP main event. That way, if you guys want to hear what happened at the World Series of Poker, you can get all that stuff now. First main event, which we just talked about, we'll hit on some of these other events, and then if you don't want to listen to my non sense, fine, you can turn the podcast off. No big deal. Over. In the six hundred dollars Deep Stack Championship, remember five and seventy seven entries in this one, Adrian Jacobs won the damn thing Adrian Jacobs out of South Africa two hundred and eighty two thousand dollars, going his way his first World Series of Poker bracelet. He defeated Paul Murlette in heads Up Play song. Hon took third place in that one. Lisa Tan got sixth place. Pretty good. I think this was the one that was there was there were a couple final tables. Er, yeah, I think a couple of final tables running today. There was for sure this one. There was the five K super turb of Bounty that we're going to talk about, and then might even been one more. But there was a lot of noise, is what I'm getting at. I was kind of way in the in the front side of the conference or of the Paris ballroom and up on the main stage, like there was a lot of yelling, chanting and whatever, and you know, judging by I see like eight or nine people here in the winter photo for Adrian Jacobs, so you know it's probably him, you know, Shout out to him, Shout out to the rail. They were having a blast, sounded like a great time. Got the South African flag there hanging in the background. So that's pretty freaking dope, I believe, if I remember correctly, he started the day did Jacob was of the big chip lead, so he was able to ride that to the Winter Circle and take home two hundred and eighty two thousand dollars heading over to the five K Super Turbo, a bounty two hundred and thirteen entries in this one, and a guy who plays in the studio quite a bit, a youngster Miles Mulally running hot to win five hundred and ninety three thousand dollars. Pete Chen finished in second place. Nigeen Aes finished in fourth. You had Christian Harder getting close again. Christian Harder still without a World Series of over a World bracelet. I follow him on Instagram and he's constantly joking about all the min cash is that he's having this this summer, this one a little bit better than a min cash, but ultimately not the goal that he wanted to take home. Miles Malali, he came on to at least my radar. It was me and Remco Rinkima doing the Millionaire Maker Final table. I think twenty twenty I don't know, twenty twenty four, twenty three, something like that, right, and we lately made the final table played. I thought extremely well, you know, I thought pretty much every decision point that he was faced with seemed like he clicked the right button. He was very young at the time. He was either like twenty one or twenty two, I think, And here he is now getting his first w who he bracelet almost six hundred thousand dollars as well. Again, he is constantly in the studio playing a lot of the PGT events. You know, he rolls with the crew that's Nick Seward, Sam Alaskowitz, Jeremy Becker. He's in that group of players so kind of the newer American high rollers that that frequent the PGT events at the Boggo studio. My Miles is certainly in there. Maybe we're going to see a bit more of them in there when he's ripping off a near six hundred K score in this five K super Turbo bounty, and I'm guessing that he got a bit more than the money that's just on the price bowl five hundred ninety three thousand dollars because with this being a super turbo bounty, right, you know, I'm sure he I'm sure he collected some scalps along the way. So congrats to Miles Malayy. The eight hundred dollars Summer celebration another lower buying but massive shout out massive Field Nolan at Hold Them event. This one had six eight hundred and three entries. Toby pro takes it down for five hundred thousand dollars. I mean, holy hell, that is a heck of a first place price. This also might have been the final table that was yelling and screaming. I mean there was a few over there. His first bracelet for Toby Price, he defeated Dennis Ony believe I said that correctly, maybe out of Germany for second place. So it was five hundred for first for Toby Price, only three twenty two per second. Michael Montchek third place Texas. Mike got close there, two hundred and forty k. Kind of crazy that, you know. For all the stuff that Michael Monchak plays, there is no buying that is too high. Here he is coming in third place in the eight hundred dollars Summer Celebration that had almost seven thousand entries in it. Craig Varnell finished in fifth place here for one hundred and thirty seven thousand dollars. So congratulations too, Toby Price taking down the eight hundred dollars Summer Celebration. They are still three handed in the fifteen hundred dollars double Board Bomb Pot pl tournament. We have justin Fawcett, abdul Amir and heiq Lee battling it out for what is a three hundred and twenty two thousand dollars first place prize. So we'll get back to this one on the next episode. Ken mentioned here though that Jesse Lonis did have a final table Ronnie finished in eighth place for almost thirty five thousand dollars. And then one other event that was running. It's day one of two, still a long way to go with around fifty entries left, but they had a one K Nolan HOLDHM Tournament, a two day event that kicked off on Saturday, seventeen hundred and thirty two entries in the field. We got a first place prize of almost two hundred and twenty one thousand dollars. Up top, they are in the money. Believe they are bagging right at time of recording, while I'm talking to you guys, it looks like Greg Murson is a big stack. I mean, I don't know how up to date these these stacks are. But Greg Murson, as I say that, he's in there twice so so these stacks are not not that up to date. But we'll see if Greg Greg murs Andrew Heidelberg is doing well up there, Casey Brown. Who else we got Lucas Pasma. Okay, you know there's some there's some poker notables you know, in there doing their damn thing, But this one still has to play out on Sunday, so we'll check back more in on this one, as well as that double board bomb pop Helo event. All right, so let's chat about my day in the WSP main event earlier. You start with sixty K. I was there for hand number one. I only recognized at my table. I so we started I think five or six handed. Diogo Vieira I recognized. Ryan Bells was also at my table to start. Shortly after we kick things off, Paul Newe joined. So that's who I had at my table today. A gentleman to my left or a young kid to my left out of Italy. Forget his name, but he was very good. He was on my direct left. So yeah, it was The table was okay, wasn't wasn't the best table in the world. Wasn't the absolute worst table in the world. It was just fine. You know. I thought I would say half the table I thought was good competent players. The other half of the table. You know, I thought was a little bit probably slightly below average players, so you know, it was kind of a mixed bag out there. We ended up getting I don't know the gentleman's name, but he goes by seven high on Netflix, I think is what he goes by. He's on the Devil's Plan on Netflix. I wish I could find this gentleman's name, but he got he I think he bought in late and joined late. He might have also came from a broken table, I don't know, but he joined later on. He was a freaking handful to deal with, because that guy for folds ever, ever, ever ever. I was talking with my friend Mickey Doff last night and I was like, you know what, Mickey, I just want a day, one day in the main event where I just make the nuts, you know, every hand, and somebody's got something to pay me off. So guess what happened, guys? In level one, I made the nuts in a multi way pot for board was seven six five with two clubs. Turn was the eight of hearts, so puts a four liner on board also brought a second fluster on. Then the river was the king of clubs, and I had the ace Queen of clubs, and I had the big blind betting turn and river into me, and then I sized up quite a bit with the rays on the river. He quickly called, so I won that pot again, you start with sixty K. At probably three quarters of the way through the first level, I was winning a lot of pots. I won that pot that was somewhat sizable for the stakes at the time, and I got up there around seventy five K. Seventy four seventy five K was kind of cruising along. Then I actually played a hand where I had aces. Ryan Bells opened from early slash middle position. The button called. I three bed from the small blind with aces. Ryan Bells just called button folded. We ended up going I bet flop. He called on queen seventy five with two spades. I had the ace of spades in hand. Turn was an eight, it went check check, River was a six. I checked. He bet small. I called he had the two red aces. I had the two black aces. He had the two red aces. I did think it was a little interesting that he opted to flat pre flop just because there was a third player in the hand, and that player ultimately would have had position. So you know Ryan Bells here would have been monkey in the middle to two of us. And I mean, it's not always fun to have to take aces multi way, especially out of position. So I just thought that that was interesting, something that I filed away in my head. Then kind of towards the end of the level and Love one, I basically got knocked back down to just above starting. I had King Queen off with the King of Spades. I opened from the cutoff the big Blind defended. This was the same player younger, I think German kid who I had the nut flush much earlier against when he had assuming was a straight with hout quick. He called you. I mean he also had a worse flush, but given that he bet turn, I would lean straight. So I opened King Queen with the King of Spades. He calls Big Blind. It comes Queen a deuce with two spades. He checks. I bet. He calls Turnes the three of Spades. He checks. I debate, just checking back here. I think he can check back some. I think you can bet some. I have to just go with a bet. He calls Rivers the niner spades, so putting four spades on board, he checks, I bet again, sizing up to around sixty percent pot I think, or so he comes with a fairly quick check rays and it was interesting because he he we took let's say ten seconds twelve seconds or so to call on the turn, and the way he was acting on the turn when that spade came out after I bet, like, I just I don't know, I just the energy it was given me. Shout out to Jeremy Becker. And the whole energy thing was that he had a big hand. Now, of course that could have been that he turned a lower flush right, you know, it doesn't always mean that, like it's like a super super big hand and I'm like drawing stone debt. So but he ended up just check calling the turn right. So on the river a fine like he checks to me, I think for a little while, and look, okay, I think I got to bet my hand, like I mean, I can't just check this back. I bet. He kind of quickly checked raises. I deliberated for a little while. Ultimately I folded, you know, I folded on the again. It was Queen of Spades, eight of spades, deuce, three of spades, nine of spades, and I folded the King of Spades. So I mean, yes, he could have a straight flush, so technically I have the third nuts here. But yeah, I mean I just I don't know. I just don't think this player, you know, he had been kind of acting if he had been paying some people off, but I hadn't seen him take this sort of line or do anything like this so far. So I don't know. It just leaned a little bit more valued to me than not. So yeah, I ended up folding it. I mean, I looked at it right before I hopped on the pod. You know, it does say full river in the solver. I know solvers aren't possible, but yeah, so I don't know. It's just tricky spot from that point on, from losing that hand that was like right at the end of the first level. We then proceeded to play the next three levels, so six hours of actual play. Of course there's breaks in there, but I mean, I just could not win a damn hand, guys, Like it was. It was unreal. It was just like and it wasn't. I didn't really lose any big pots. I didn't run any big bluffs like you know, I didn't have any kind of big cool ers, like nothing, nothing like super eventful happened. It was just like, you know, fifteen hundred here, two k here, another seventeen hundred here, and like that just kept happening happening, and a lot of it was I know, for you poker people out there who are like a bit more studied and like, you know, you understand what I'm about to say. We're like I'm opening like ace queen off and it comes like eight seven six two suits that are not any of my suits. I'm up against two other players, and like I just have like no maneuverability on this sort of bored texture, Like what am I gonna do with my hand? Like, yeah, maybe I could like blast off. And I tried. I tried to kind of switch some things up. I tried to, you know, bet in some spots I might not normally bet. I tried to be a little bit more patient in spots that I might take a more aggressive line just just because I don't know. Things just really kind of just weren't working out for me. So after a little while, I'd be like, Okay, maybe if I just try and like do something a little different here. Okay, I normally wouldn't bet this, So what if I do bet this? You know, just nothing was working. Nothing was working for three straight levels and the WSP main event every level is two hours. So I'm just like losing, losing, losing. Next thing, you know, I'm at forty K. Next thing, you know, I'm at thirty five K. Then I'm at and I'm just like what the what is like? What is going on? Like I won a couple of small pots, you know, to kind of get back up around forty, and I'm just like losing, losing, losing, losing. Diogo Vieira really good player. Believe he's Portuguese even though his flag said American. Anyway, he's at my table, he's two to my right, he's steam rolling the table. Okay, he's playing. I thought very very well. He had a ton of chips. He was, you know, the deck was working in his favor. He was getting people to pay him off in huge spots where he like was just like two x three x pot on river, like just crazy stuff. There was a gentleman in seat nine who he was there originally before he got moved before seven High joined. And I mean this gentleman was like Diego had him on like life till because he was just like doing all this stuff getting to pay him off. It was if that guy would have stayed there, he would have for sure busted at our table and likely to Vira for sure. So I'm just kind of like losing, losing, losing. So I'm seeing Vera open like some some spots in some later positions, like I was on the button, he would be in the hijack seat and he's opening hands like you know, queen six suited, seven five suited, like you know, he's just he's getting a little bit more liberal, not that you can't get liberal on these spots. I agree with him. I would probably be doing the exact same thing in his shoes. So then that leads me to a hand, you know, in the second to last level of the night, where he opens from the hijack seven High who had now joined our table, who had If seven High played a hand, he would just never fold, like to the river pretty much. I mean, he wasn't like he wasn't giving it away. That might sound like I'm saying he was giving it away. He was not giving it away. He was just incredibly sticky. He did fold. Sometimes I'm using a little bit hyperbole there, but anyway, he calls I have ace jack off on the button, and I think I can go either way. I think I can call. I think I can raise. Based on how liberal first VIA's opens were being and how much seven High was getting in the mix, you know, kind of playing hands in position. Both of them had had a good amount of chips. I was like, you know what, I'm gonna three bet this hand. And I was like, you know what if if Viera goes for this, like if he decides to come with a four bet, I don't. I kind of don't know what the hell I'm gonna do. I mean, I might just stack off, which which seemed crazy at the time, but I don't know. I probably would have folded anyway. Via folds seven High, decides to call it comes ten eighty three Rainbow. He checks, I bet. He calls h Turner is the King of Hearts, brings a second heart. The other heart on the board was the three Hearts. He checks, I bet again. Sizeing up, he calls like, well, what does this guy have? Does he like? I mean, yeah, he can he can flop sets here like he can have eights and tens, you know, flats the rays. Although I thought with I thought with those two hands tens and eights. You know, this would be a good spot for him to It's not a spot where I think he might do it one hundred percent of the time, but maybe sometimes he might backjam. Given I was kind of on the shorter side. He can just get the money in pre against me with tens and eights right after he flats the rays from Viera and he gets out of the way. So there was a chance that I thought, you know, maybe some percent of the time he can flat those hands more so tens than eights, just you know, and play for a backjam. I also thought, you know, hand like King ten suited can be in there. The river is just it's a blank. It's not a six or four or something whatever. He checks, and I debated just going for the triple barrel and I would have put it all in, and I didn't. I got I backed off, you know, I said, you know what, I don't need to do this. The hard part is is that so okay? So I check. Ultimately I have like fifteen k left or something. He tables two nines, So I think his hand is supposed to be a foal on the turn. I think, I mean, that seems like it's getting pretty sticky out there, with you know, two overs on board, me off my stack side, going multiple streets here after three bedding pre I mean, that just seems pretty sticky. But given how he was playing, I also think if I would have tripled it off, he probably would have heroed me. So I might just be out of the tournament. I mean, I have no idea. Maybe that works, maybe doesn't. I'm still unknown on it. But anyway, the level ends shortly after that. I have eleven thousand, six hundred going into the last level of the night, last level of nights three hundred, six hundred, so you know, I'm working with nineteen big Lindes, you know, just under twenty big lines. And it's one of those days where you're just like, man, I just can't like nothing's like nothing's working right. And I had a similar day day too, with a monster stack earlier this summer, back to a really good stack on day one, Day two, literally just lost every hand that I play, just could not not maneuver at all or make anything happen. And anything that other people were doing against me was like it was working and it was good timing. It was everything, you know, like and eventually you just kind of feel like this punching bag. And I've been wearing a I had an ESPN Hockey Night jersey, a red hockey jersey that I wore, you know, just because WSB is back on ESPN, and I decided, you know what, let's just wear this be a little bit festive. Last year on the fourth of July, I worthy the USA jacket. This year, will switch it up a little bit. So I had that on. Normally I just play in like my black PGT jacket, and I walked back to my desk and I said, you know what, screw this jersey, taking jersey off, I'm going back to all black. Put the all black back on. Shout out to my guy, Antonio o'brego, photographer for Poker gro He's like, you know, He's like, just just do some meditation whatever, you know, And normally I'm just like whatever. I kind of just go for a walk, I do some stretching, you know, whatever. I did. I sat down and I did some breathing exercises and I just kind of sat in silence, and I was like, you know what, just like just just fucking grind, like it's twenty big lines. In a poker tournament. You know, yes, it's the Waspe main event, but it's also twenty big lines in a poker tournament, and you've done that a million times in your life, Like you know what to do. Yes, everyone else has way more tips than you. It's not fun to just be losing losing losings, but you still got twenty bigs, right, so just you know, just kind of being like, yeah, just gotta just just gotta. It's not that I wasn't trying hard, because I will always try hard. I just was like, you know what, just try even harder, like just I don't know if you can do that, but just try even harder. And I went back out there and maybe it's just the gods shining down on me. But third hand, I get kings. I'm in the big blind. I'm all in for eleven thousand against a gentleman with ace king, and uh yeah, I double up there, I get back up over twenty play that stack for a little while. Then I four bet rip ace King, gentleman who doubled me up with the ace king when I had kings. He opens some early position to twelve hundred. Diogo Viira makes it forty two hundred from the cutoff. I'm in the small blind with Ace King. I put in twenty one three hundred all in first raiser folds. I get a bit of a tank with like like a minute or so minute and a half. You know, it was a long tank from Vieira. He's kind of hemming and hall on about the whole thing. And as he's thinking, I'm thinking because the way he had been playing, like, I didn't think he was three betting you know, tens nine's eight seven stuff like that in this spot. So I kind of didn't think I was up against a pair because I thought that the pairs that he with three bet would have already called me, right, you know, it's I mean, listen, it's not You're not like fist pumping in there with like jacks or queens because my hands look super strong. But you're you're calling I mean queens. You're probably calling pretty happily, and it's like whatever, you know. Plus he had it well over one hunter k and chips, I think, so I'm thinking, does he just have Ace Queen here? Like he's queen suited And he's like really debating, like you know, looking at me, like thinking and you know, does he just have two tens or two jacks over there? And I'm just gonna ultimately flip with this guy. He calls he's got two jacks, So I was a little bit surprised to not have seen a faster call with the jacks. But I drilled the king, and you know, we're back up over forty k and kind of cruising, got gotta touch over fifty table broke lost one hand towards like the second to last hand of the night or something, and then uh yeah, bagged forty five nine hundred. So again, given where I was at eleven thousand, six hundred going into that final level of night, the day that I had where I hadn't won a pot for six hours, and it just it seemed like it seemed like I was just like, you know what I said, you know what if if if you're gonna bust, you're gonna bust. I mean that it's it's at the end of the day, it sucks the bus to the WS be main event, yes, but also it's like people bust poker tournaments. Ah shit, ton of people bust poker tournaments every time they go out and play them. So it's not It's not the end of the world, you know, and ultimately, if today is not your day, then then you know, so be it. You know, so be it. But thankfully, you know, things did swing back in my favor and I was able to close pretty strong at the end there, so so that was fun. Bagging forty five nine hundred is not starting stack, it's less than starting, but uh, considering where I was and the day that I had, had it feels like I bagged you know, four in one thousand, so I'm ready to go. Last year, I bag thirty five eight hundred on day one, So I've never really had a good day one I had. I had one good day one, and then I punted it off on day two. So the other times, it's it's more like I they almost I need to be I need to have to work for it, I guess is what I'm saying, Like I need to constantly work for it. I can't just be front running the whole thing, which is fine. I'm happy to go out there and uh, you know, bring the lunch pal and go to work. So so yeah, bring bring on day two. It'll be on Monday, Day two. ABC. Have my have my table already, look pretty okay, I recognize I think one name at the table, Kina England is there. She's two to my right. Don't recognize anyone off the top, but uh yeah, you know it doesn't matter. You know, you can only play the people that they sit you with. You don't have to worry about tabe I mean getting a bad table jog, getting a good table drag. Yes, that's a big part of going deep in a tournament, especially in this tournament. But you also have to play who's in front of you, right. You can't skip, you can't sit out, you know, you can't take a rest day any of that sort of stuff. You've got to go in there and you got to be prepared to battle. I'll have fifty seven big lines at four hund at eight hundred or so, I'm ready to go. You know, that's a hell of a deep stack and we can make a lot of things happen. So yeah, so that's my day one. See, it's a hell of a tournament, guys, it's a hell of a tournament. I would highly encourage all of you out there, and I'm sure I've said this in past years, but if you haven't played the WSP main event. Yet listen, start saving that money now, one hundred bucks, two hundred bucks a week, whatever it is. Sell some action to your friends, sell some action on poker's take, whatever the heck you gotta do. Chalk it off as a bucket list item and just make it happen, because it is really, so so so much fun to be out there battling in this one specific tournament. And it's certainly not lost on me that I that I get to do it. So hopefully you guys out there get that opportunity as well, and you know, hopefully I can see you on the way.
