Hello, everyone, Welcome to a new episode of the Poker Go Podcast. My name is Donnie Peters. It is well, I guess it's Friday. It's Friday, May twenty ninth, one oh five am. Latest pod recording session of the summer so far. I feel like it's still a little bit early though. I had a later night hanging out and was just chatting with some folks towards towards the end of the night that that uh took up my time. Overall, things are starting to cook over at the World Series of Poker now. I keep thinking every time I go down there that it's it's still the calm before the storm. I think there's a couple things, and I know I've said this already, you know, on a few of the recent episodes, but I think it's because of a couple of things specifically, and they're they're for whatever reason, they're they're affecting my psyche. One like our area where we got to sit and like do our stuff. It's still not fully set up. Of course, it's not expected to be set up, you know, dealing with the main stage. I got it. You know, we're second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, We're way down on that total bowl. I totally get it. But that said, it's just messing with my psyche a little bit, you know. Second thing, and I think this thing might be the bigger thing, is that that main stage it's still behind the curtain. It is still shut off from the public. Now it's a giant curtain, and you can get a size or an idea of the size of this thing, but it just feels like a metaphor that it won't fully be the twenty twenty six doubs ap until that curtain drops on Friday, which is today, when you guys are listening to this, when Pete, we'll see what I'm calling the wacip Grand Arena. When this thing is revealed, it's it's wow factor, you know. To me, everyone's still kind of waking up. The whip itself is still kind of waking up. Once this thing drops, once that curtain hits the ground, it is on. It is game freaking on. And also part of this as well is that, you know, we still haven't crowned a bracelet are yet. It's Friday. This thing kicked off on Tuesday. There has been no bracelet one just yet. Of course, we're getting there, right a couple of cool things happened. We got our first final table today, well actually our first two final tables that I should say, apologies me. We got the five hundred dollars Industry Employees event playing down right now. They are currently heads up while I am recording. I'm likely not going to touch on this one once, even if we get a winner during the show. I kind of want to, you know, give a little bit more to this event when there is a winner that happens, So, you know, likely on the next podcast is when I'll touch on that one. I don't just want to be like, oh, hey, so and so on, let's just move on with our lives. But heads up is Jeremy Nepple and Sean Hammering, and they look to be pretty deep as well, so that one could take a little while over there. Now. The other final table that we got is in the five K no Limit hold them. We talked about that event already a little bit, you know, getting yesterday, I was talking about how it's setting up where we could see a final table that includes Martin Cabrell and Maurice Hawkins. Well both of them busted out. I think Cabrell busted out shortly after, I must have, you know, pressed the stop button and sent the sent the podcast over to producer Rich. But listen, Friday is a big day. It is a big, big, big day. I know I keep hyping up this, this set, this stage, but I think it's worth it. You know, I'm not someone who tries to just set these crazy lofty expectations, you know, to basically clickbait everyone. I do not believe this is clickbait. I'm also trying to couch a little bit of what I'm saying because I don't really want to give away too much. But I'm telling you, guys, when you see this thing, it's gonna be awesome. And with that reveal, it's gonna be immediately into streaming. You know, twenty five k heads up. You know it's day one of that or day one A of that, because they do have two starting flights in that tournament this year. You know that's supposed to be streaming. You're also likely gonna have some coverage of the five thousand dollars Noldman hold the final table that's going on as well. So it's gonna be curtain drop. It's gonna be a whole big wow factor. People are gonna get to see this thing, and then throughout the day, you know, it's gonna be an action and it's gonna be put out there via the WSOP YouTube channel, and people are gonna be able to watch this thing and see the set and see the twenty six WSOP in action in full. And at that point, like that's when it's like, like I said, it's game on now. Speaking of that five thousand dollars, nolam that hold them final table, it is here. It's a big one. They got half a million dollars up top. There are five players remaining when they bagged them up on Thursday. One of them is wren linn. Lynn of course, had a bit of a situation back in October where while he was over in Cyprus playing in the WISIP Super Circuit Series, it was ruled that he violated the poker Integrity policy on gg Poker while playing the WSIP Super Circuit Cypress main event. If I remember correctly, what happened is basically, someone he was in a group chat, somebody called him on a video call and asked him what to do on a spot on a phone, and he gave some answers and that was the thing. Now we can obviously debate, was this innocent thing. Did Rendland know what the heck he was doing? I have no idea. I can't really judge intent from where I sit. That said, it was ruled that he violated this policy and then as a result they opted to disqualify him from the live tournament, even though what he did was technically an online breach of policy. So kind of an interesting result there, but that was the penalty. It was a polarizing situation at the time. You had plenty of people coming out kind of on both sides. Listen, he didn't really mean it, he didn't really do it. On the other side of things, it's like, yes, he's an ambassador, he needs to know better. Like it was, you had both sides covered, and I'm sure even still to this day, you know you have both sides still covered. You know, there's plenty of people on both sides of the fence here. But the story now is that Renland is back and he's made the final table of the five thousand dollars, no limit, hold Them event at the twenty twenty six and he's he's full on renln You know, lady Gaga fold to heads up, touchdown Tom Brady like it is. It is all there, and it is there in full. He does come in fourth in Chips with five players of mating. It's Chen Jang Mao another player from China, so the three players from China. Redland is from China at this final table. So Mayo leads the way. He's got ninety big blinds. Danny el Geba second in Chips, Jaohulu also from China, third and Chips and Renlin in fourth. Like I mentioned in, Peter Muger is in fifth. They are playing for that five hundred thousand dollars first place prize. A little bit more here on Renlin, He's got nineteen point four million dollars in live tournament earnings. According to the Hendon mock. He's got several victories on his resume. Some of those victories are PGT titles. He's got three of those. He's also got a couple of wins in some WPT high roller events. Believe he won it was a twenty five k high roller on the WPT, and then he also won an Alpha eight event. That Alpha eight event took place at the win WPT World Championship a couple of years ago. But he has no bracelets. Now, that's not to say he hasn't had success in wis AP events. You know, he's had five second place finishes, He's had three third place finishes in ws AP gold bracelet events. He's made the final five here. I didn't look past third place over those. You know that was enough. You know, eight top three finishes without a win. That that's a lot. That is the definition of knocking on the door of winning a bracelet. And here he is. Yes, he does come in fourth in chips. He has twenty five big Lindes to work with, but in Renland style, I think he's gonna kick around for a bit and probably make you know, the top three for sure, and then go from there. Another player of note at this final table danielle Geba. He's in better trip position than Lenny said second. Overall, he's We've covered him a little bit in some some prior tournaments PGT for sure. I think he has a second place finish in maybe a Poker Masters event if I remember correctly. But he's definitely been in the studio a bit playing there. I've played with him as well around town here in Las Vegas. He had you know, some some stream time during a Venetian event that we did on the PGT. You know, he he's just a fun, aggressive player. He has a tendency to not hold back one single bit. So this could be for or this could lean into quite a lot of fun. And especially if this is gonna be on stream and if they are showing a bit of this table, that'll be great because with how Gebba plays, I would expect plenty of fireworks. He's supremely confident in his ability. You know, he's not someone who's who's overly loud or boisterous or anything like that. He's he's very quiet. He's kind of silent, you know, but his play and his style of play certainly does speak volumes. You know. He's also the type of player where because he plays this type of you know, kind of really like Gopher Broke type of style, if he does go on to win this thing, it would be his first breakout win. Now, independent of that, let's say, you know, I mean he's starting second in chips, he's got seventy two big blinds, So let's say he gets to the top three. I mean, that type of score this early in the series that could be you know, the type of momentum that somebody of this type of style really does harness to then go on and make a whole crap ton of noise this summer. So just just keep that in mind when it comes to Daniel Gebba, just with this playing style, when he gets hot, big things can happen. So you know, this might not be the last time you hear his name this summer, and then we can look back and be like, yeah, he made that opening five gate final table, like that's kind of where it all started for Daniel. We have switching things up and looking over at the fifteen hundred dollars Omaha High Low Tournament, they are down to the final eighteen players and it looks like they're down to the final couple hands before they bag up for the evening, and among them they were over eight hundred. They were eight hundred and twenty eight players in the field there, but among them in the final eighteen Vanessa Selps. So she's back, she is back in the mix. She is back grinding. I believe Phil Helmon's put it on Twitter that even if she's only back for a few events. At the start of the dibsip it's good. It's good to have her back, and it is good to have her back blasting away. So that's that's a little bit of a notable nugget there. From the fifteen hundred dollars Omaha High Low had another flight of the five hundred and fifty five dollars fifty five, five hundred and fifty dollars, a mini mystery million. It drew twenty four hundred and fifty entries today, which was Day one seed. That brings the total number of entries in this field up to five thousand, six hundred and forty seven. We talked about how Day one B was surprisingly fewer entries than Day one A in this tournament, but a nice uptick here to get things trending back in the right direction. And then, speaking of numbers, while we're just on this topic, the fifteen hundred dollars stud kicked off today got a bit over three hundred, much closer to last year's number. The five thousand dollars PLO got up over seven hundred entries that also very close to last year's number. So although they didn't meet last year's number, drawing as close as they did, you know, it's definitely a much better sign for things to come, and it could all just maybe be it's just kind of a slower start to the summer overall. But again, you know we're gonna be We're gonna be keeping an eye on things with how they go, and you know, tracking these numbers and you know, seeing seeing how it all shakes out. You know, I still expect big things overall from the entire summer. You know, I think it's just a little bit slow to start, So I mean, shoot me if I'm too optimistic there. All right, in that five thousand dollars PLO tournament, it ended up with seven hundred and sixteen entries five hundred and ninety five k up top. It's a shocking player who's in first place. It's it's Dylan Wiseman. I mean, it's mister freaking Plo himself is just doing it once again. And then right behind him is Jesse Lonis, so two heavy hitters there when it comes to the four card game. Dylan is one of the absolute best, if not the best PLO player in the world, especially when it comes to tournaments. We all know Jesse Lonis aka the Gorilla with how good he is. You know, he's also a player who, as I was talking about earlier with Daniel Gebba, you know, he's someone who he swings big and when he gets hot, I mean, you just better freaking watch out. I was hanging around on the rail checking out out this tournament for a bit today, you know, I don't know, probably an hour or two before they bagged up. I'm talking with Tristan Wade, who's a good friend of mine. We do some commentary together as well. I think we're lined up to do some commentary this weekend at Venetian for the Venetian Poker live streams that are coming up on Saturday and Sunday. And we're, you know, we're just chatting. He had just busted out of the tournament. We're just you know, shooting the ship, talking about life. He's floating some ideas with me, like all this sort of stuff. A gentleman starts kind of hovering close to us, and it's it's to the point where you know, you, I mean, you guys know what's happening When when I say that, you know, you feel that the person wants to talk to you, but he's kind of waiting for a reason to talk to you, or he's waiting for one of us to say something where he can agree with us and like basically interject himself into the conversation. So he's kind of like floating right near us and getting a little bit closer. And then finally he just starts asking Tristan, you know about the tournament. Hey. Oh. The first he says, actually is do you have any bullets left? Which is kind of a very weird question to ask, And immediately I'm thinking, oh, he's this guy. Maybe this guy's just like looking out there to blast and he wants to put people who have extra bullets because I believe you could allow you were allowed three bullets in this thing, one entry and then two re entries. And Tristan says, you know, yeah, I you know, I only played once, but I'm not going to play again. And it didn't amount to the guy, you know, firing in. Like I was like, that would be crazy if the guy was like, well, I'll just put you in, you know. But anyway, but him and Tristan started talking. The gentleman's name was Josh and an Asian gentleman, and he's you know, they're chatting it up and basically they start talking about like should the guy Josh is like, you know, should I Should I register now? Should I wait till it's late registration and registration was about to close and let's say ten or fifteen minutes that break and then obviously through the break you could so they're debating the benefits. Then gives the positives in terms of, you know, should he get now, should he just wait till the late reds all this sort of stuff. So it ends up they end up chatting whatever. But it never really felt like the guy was like gonna play the tournament, okay, So whatever. Tristan ends up like the conversation like breaks off after you know, ten minutes or so. Tristan runs to the bathroom. He comes back in the tournament's on break, the tournament's about to get back from break. We're sitting there chatting with Michael mss Rocky about how you know him and Tristan went down to Australia, had a fun time down there, had some success in the tournaments for the return of the Ausie Millions like all that, and Miss Rocky leaves and the guy the Gentleman, the Asian Gentleman comes back over Josh and he's, you know, he's he shows Trists in the app and he's like, he's like, I'm in or whatever he says. He's like, I'm in, you know, so do I just like, do I just wait for my seat? Because he's he's was listed as an alternate. First, Tristan tells him, oh, you should go find a floor, but then it dawned on him and they said, no, no, actually you just wait till it pops up on the app and then it says, you know, oh your seat's availab or whatever it says, I forget. But the cool thing about it is that, I don't know, they got to be kind of friendly throughout this whole little ordeal. And Tristan goes, you know, can I buy a piece? Can I buy a piece right now? And the guys like, are you're serious? And I don't really like he goes, I don't really know, like because I know what I'm doing, but I'm not the best PLO player, like you know, and Tristan's like, I don't care. I get kind of good feeling. So if Tristan ends up just buying five percent on the spot, at face gives the guy two hundred and fifty bucks, and then the guy starts asking him pointers, you know, like you know, hey, like Tristan said, yeah, you know, just just let me know, like they exchange numbers. Tristan's like, yeah, you can text me any time, you know, I'll give you some tips. Maybe we can talk hands like whatever it may be. And the guy's like, yeah, you know, like I was kind of looking at this thing to see like what's a good hand and what's not like and then Tristan's explaining how when the guy comes in, he's only gonna have twelve and a half big blind, so there's gonna be a limping strategy that he should deploy, and it's kind of spawns into this whole little ten minute strategy talk. But I just thought that the interaction was just it was cool. It was something that you know, you really only see in poker and in the gambling world, and all that sort of stuff is magnified and a little bit more prevalent when it comes to the World Series of Poker. Just Tristan just met this guy. He only knows that the guy's name is Josh, that's all he knows, and just out of nowhere pulls out his wallet and says, I want to buy five percent. The guy says, are you sure? Okay, the guy just accepts it. Tristan pays him the cash right there, They exchange numbers and that's that. The guy's off and running. In the tournament, they start with fifty thousand chips. Tristan and I go, we're just talking some more. Tristan gets a text that like the guys, all of a sudden, like a half hour after he started playing, is up to two hundred k. And you know, it's just it's it's off and running. So I mean, I hope he does well. That'd just be an amazing story and we'll have to we'll have to follow it up from here. Funny funny stuff. How that that all happens at the World Series? And I'm sure, Oh, I think they had a connection that Tristan's from Florida, and I think that this guy might live in Florida or spends a lot of time in Florida or something like that. That was kind of the initial connection. But anyway, I just think it's funny that that that that sort of interaction can spark a friendship now, like like a poker friendship. Like these guys are you know? He bought action five percent of them on the spot, just and has no idea. This guy's good, bad, what he's he gonna do with the money? Like it doesn't matter. There's just that trust there. He sized him up, thought he was a good guy, said you know what, let's gamble. I want to get back in the mix. Here's five percent, here's my money, let's go. Now they got each other's numbers. They're probably going to see each other throughout the summer in terms of like playing in the tournaments and being at different tables, but they'll always have like that little bond that that's something comes from it. And I just I don't know, I'm a sucker for this shit. I'm sorry, I just really am. So that's that was a really cool nugget of something that happened today while out there roaming the floor. Another cool thing that happened today. And this is the coolest damn thing that happened today. It didn't happen down at the Horseshoe or at Paris. In fact, I guess it happened digitally because Daniel Legrano Amanda Nagrano, they announced that they are having a baby. It is through a surrogate. Daniel and Amanda announced it on the vlog that dropped on Thursday. The vlogs are back, by the way, guys, the vlogs are back. The d nexvogs are back. Watch them every single morning. If you guys don't do that as well, I don't know what the hell you're doing. But they explained fifteen weeks pregnant. Now they have talked in some various vlogs, or at least Daniel has talked in some various blogs how they are trying or they have been trying. So now they are fifteen weeks pregnant, expected to be delivered in November. And it is a boy, so great news there of Daniel and a minute. It's also a funny running joke another the funny story. I guess that that happened today kind of in the similar conversation when I was standing there, a Trician is Jeff Gross walks up and he starts talking about, you know, hey, are we gonna do the World Cup of Vegas this year? Are we gonna play soccer? Because the three of us are on a team, and I believe we won the first one that they ever held together. We won it twice. I couldn't remember if it was the first one or the second one, but we won that that soccer tournament twice with all the poker players in Las Vegas. But we're you know, we're talking about how we're old now. Getting out of bed is like we feel like we can't move half the time, like you know, imagine trying to run around play soccer all day, Like are we gonna be able to do that? I mean, we're you know, we're half joking that we're old, but you know, you start feeling it. We got kids now, chasing them around again, and all of us have kids, so that but that's the joke now. And that also is something that we talk about often over at the Poker Gross studio where it's like everyone everyone's got a fucking kids now, Like that that's the thing, Like, you know, everyone comes in, they show up to quote unquote work, whether you're a player, whether you're on our side of things, whatever, and it's like, hey, how's the family, how the kids, how's the wife? You know, like that's those are the conversations now, And it's almost as though if you don't have a kid, if you aren't a dad or a mom. You know, you're you're almost the outlier now, which is both cool but also kind of a reminder that there's not a lot of young people kind of coming up in the game these days, which stinks, but you know, it is what it is. But yeah, but that's just how it is. So anyway, shout out to Daniel and Amanda. That's really really really awesome news. A lot of fun and you know, so I guess next summer when when Daniel's doing vlogs, he's gonna have a little kid running around or crawling around or whatever. So a lot of fun there. But honestly, that's really all I got for you guys. You know, a couple stories run through, a couple of results. Here. Tomorrow's the big day, as I mentioned, or Friday is the big day. The w SP Grand Arena is going to be revealed. I hope you guys, if you aren't able to make it down to Paris to the Horseshoe to see this thing in person this year. You know, I hope that the photos can do a justice. I hope the streams can do it justice. I hope the videos that come out can do it justice because Poker, and specifically the World Series of Poker deserves a stage like this. It does. It is o our industry super Bowl. It is the biggest and the best thing that this industry has, and it deserves to have, you know, that giant monumental setting to be played out, and so look forward to that. You know, I know the team at Blueprint fifty two cannot wait to reveal that to anyone. I mean also, you know, with the reveal comes a bit of sleep, because those guys have been working like they were still there doing work when I left at like eleven thirty or whatever time it was that I left. I mean, they are working basically around the clock to get this thing ready to go, ready for day one of streaming and to you know, really get that debas would heartbeat, you know, ramped up into full gear. All right, that's gonna do it for me. Another relatively short podcast, but it's looking like Monday is when you know, we'll have our entire space set up. We'll be bringing back the video podcast, we'll be diving into some more interviews, all that sort of stuff. So you know, thanks for kind of sticking with me for these early few days. As we feel things out and we kind of ease into this thing, but you know, it's always important. At least I do feel that it's pretty important to get it out to you guys. You know what's happening down there as best I can. I know not everyone can come on down to the World Series of Pokers. So if we can relay through this show that this is what it's like to be here, then you know, that's a win. That's a win for me. All Right, that's gonna do it for me. I'm gonna go try and get some sleep and then get back down there for the big reveal on Friday. My name is Donni Peters, and I will talk to you guys next time. It's to night on the Jenny expressed a ya
