From a couple of weeks ago, it's been used by a lot of social media users as a call to unfollow or block celebrities who have not been vocal about their stance on their war in the Middle East. My god, who the hell do these people? Well, not only that that is part of it, or that's how some people are using the whole digitein thing, but some people are just tired of the quote unquote influencer culture and influencers and the I don't want to say that they're not celebrities, because they are at this point, but people are getting sick of the influencers that just push different products and they're quote unquote only content creators. They're not the actors and the actresses and stuff. Even though a lot of these people that's what they're trying to do, right, But they're just tired of influencer culture and they're saying, like, hey, let's cancel them. Just stop following them. If you get a sponsored post from them, or if the digital platform you're using says okay, I think you might like this and suggest it to you. Just hide it because then eventually they won't be seen and it pushes them down in the algorithm. It's like a collective of people trying to get together to stop influencers. So is it working. That's a good question, is it? I don't know, and just listen. I don't pay any attention any of this stuff at Also, I'm not a good person to ask. Frankly, I pay no attention to all of this stuff because I think it's annoying. And one of the reasons that I don't pay much attention. Well, you know, an example is Amal Clooney, who is out and about trying to convince the ICC to charge Israel and Amas. Who the hell is she? Why should she have more than rights and a civil lawyer? And she has done so many things. A lot of people just want to deduce her down to well, she's George Klune his wife. No, she was well known in that community, right, so why are we going to after That'd be my question of her. She thinks we ought to go after net and Yahoo and the leaders of hamas. Okay, so fine, then it is a valid question. Why why is Putin getting kind of in the past. Are they not going after them as well? Thank you? Right exactly, All right, here's some other TikTok stuff scams on TikTok targeting weight loss drugs. Here we go with we goovi and ozampic again, because they've exploded all over the place in the past couple of years. There's a shortage and so because of the demand, scammers have taken notice by offering to ship weight loss drugs for a lower prices without a prescription. Of course, they aren't what, they're just nothing, taking your money and shipping nothing. Yeah exactly, thanks, But these aren't new scams. These scams go around with other products all the time. That's why it's so important that if you do see something on social media, you look into the company, you check reviews, you check the Better Business Bureau website, all of that stuff. But the latest is because also these weight laws drugs are expensive anyway, so they're giving them at a discount and all of this as they claim, yeah right, uh huh So anyway, and then there's this Maryland teacher under investigation after a viral TikTok of students taking out his braids. Do you see that the TikTok video of students taking braids out of his school teacher's hair. The teacher at the Maya Angelou French Immersion School in Maryland, Marque's White was reassigned out of the classroom pending the outcome of the investigation. So here's another thing. This is who knows how many times something like this goes on a classroom and so you put it up on social media and you ruin this person's career. Basically, that's what's happened. This person will be done teaching. And I don't know any more about it than that. But is it a hanging a fence? According to TikTok and social media, it is. There's some food for thought, right, This is something from your hometown of Cleveland. Fella there being hailed as a hero for his determination to rescue a youngster trapped in a burning house. This fella's name is John Stickovich, So on no way to work when he saw a house consumed in fire and smoke. Fire department had not gotten to the scene. Yet in front of the house, he saw an document looking despondently into the house, mother sitting on the lawn with her baby, and so he stopped to get out of his car. He asked her if she was okay, and my baby is in the house, and so I thought to I said, oh, I have to save that baby. That's how it's going to be, and that's what I'm going to do. So he ran around the house. He tried to go through the back door, the side door, then he found a door that he could kick in. Smoke and fire in that area of the house was too much, so he went around and found another door that was already open. So he crawled into the house to search for the baby, and then he was driven back again by the smoke and the flames. So he went out to ask the mother where she last saw her child, and she said next to the baby gate. So once more this guy goes into this burning inferno and it was still he can't find in the oxygen running show. So he can't find the baby. So he's thinking to himself, what the heck do I do? And thought of saving himself emerged, but he just said, nope, I've got to go do something about this. Well, then he heard the baby, Yeah heard, He actually heard the baby, and it gave him some direction of way to go. So he, while inside this burning house, kind of dove towards where the sound was and managed to touch the child's leg. Wow, how about that for a story. Huh? Yeah, grab the baby got out of there, and the fire was so severe that when the firefighters had gotten there, because you know, he would have never been able to run inside that burning building if the firefighters were already there. Yeah. So, by the time the firefighters got there, two of them who had gone in to put the fire out, two of them actually ended up being severely injured. That's how horrific this fire was and how consumed this house was. When he went in on more than one occasion trying to find this child, and he rescued the child. Bad news, bears man. Then, well it was could have been bad. It could have been worse news. I wonder how it will affect his health in the future, because when you inhale that stuff, it gets into your lungs. It's really hard to get it out. The tar and the smoke and that sort of a child right now, imagine what's going on with that child's lungs. Along from being fully developed, the idea here thinking back to September eleventh and all the firefighters that eventually in the police first responders who died of lung complications over the course of their lives because of all of that stuff that they breathed in. It's really dangerous. Firefighters. People say, oh, what an easy job, and the fact that they work forty eight hours a week in most cities they have two shifts that are twenty four hours, and you most of them all have other jobs, have other businesses. That's cool. But when you're going if you're in the line of duty and you really have to go into something that's very intense, it's tough. They all wear masks and they have oxygen and all that sort of thing, but still it's a dangerous and sometimes that equipment. Yeah, it's dangerous, all right. So let's see here. That was good. Here's the bad. High mortgage rates and rising prices putting a damper on home buying this spring. Existing home fails off of sales were off by a couple of points. Jay, Let's see here. For a little over four million homes were sold in April. That's down from down about ten twenty thousand of March. Still, that seems like a lot of homes to be sold in one month. Yes, and it's showing that it's spring is still the seller's market. Spring is still the best time to sell a house, and then I'm really interested in seeing what happens towards the end of summer when it becomes the buyer's market. The rate on the let's see thirty or fixed mortgages here in the last few weeks it stands right around seven percent. It was at six point three nine a year ago. So one wonders why that is because the interest rate is actually was high. Well, no, it hasn't gone up since last year. They were looking for it to go down by a quarter of a point so that the prices on home still around where I am anyways, really tight. Inventory supply of homes went from let's see where it was to one point two many a little over a million, the fourth straight month of increase. It's still low. It was about one hundred million, sorry, about a million seven homes available per month before the pandemic. So if there were four million sold, the numbers don't quite add up. At least in the long run. And this was looking at existing homes, not not any new bills. So I wonder what the differences between those we're doing on the farm the agrohood. And it's a high priced neighborhoods, no question about it. And homes in that area and that well in the geographic area, but also in that price range A million dollars or more have gone up. The availability of homes priced and that department around the country gone up forty percent from a year ago inventory that sort of thing, but those are that's where the action is. Frankly, a third of the sales went to first time buyers, which is probably the best news of the bad news. That's the best of the bad news that more first time buyers are able to buy. That's been something that really was a goal to get more people into homes. Okay, here's the ugly news this week. Lots of tornadoes, tornadic activity. I'm looking at some video from Greenfield, Iowa, where a tornado just ripped through this week. A lot of neighbors in this small town talking about those who have been killed by these tornadoes, big storms that went through the Midwest midweek. Wow, a lot of fatalities and many more injuries in this town, or Greenfield, which is about fifty miles southwest of Des Moines. Tornado carved a path through the community, and looking at the pictures in the video, what a mess. Nothing left, basically jay of this community. It pretty much flattened the whole town, everything, every structure in the town, absolutely heaps of debris, tossed cars everywhere, uprooted trees, so a lot of people. The only thing that was left standing was the church, which was kind of in one little church in this little isn't it though? Why would that be? And one of the residents was quoted as going to church and pleading with God to protect her home and her family. Didn't work. She was in the basement of her home and she's okay, but she says, and you've heard this before from people, when the tornado comes through, it's like a train running through your living room. That's what it sounds like, the vibration, right, And so when she got out of the basement, there's nothing left of her. So you're okay. In the basement, although it rips, you know, sometimes the bottom floor will stay. Often in these circumstances, just rips everything off of the house. And so the good thing about this, there's always a good, you know, good bad, ugly, there's always something that good comes out of it, and that is neighbors helping neighbors, people helping each other, working together, as that's kind of what people do. What a tragedy, though, think about this happening to you, and then what would you do? The rubble again, I underscore that there are eighteen tornadoes in Iowa this week. Eighteen tornadoes, the torrent of storms, power outages, flooding, this kind of stuff. And because the news media likes to play this sort of thing up a tornado reports, this is something. Well, it seems that the severe weather is getting more severe, and so far this year we've had almost eight hundred tornadoes reported around the country. Yeah, there are eight hundred and some odd reports. I'm looking at a fifteen year average, and so far this year the numbers are lower than they were last year and in twenty twenty two. So okay, take that for what it's worth. If you look at the real news, Okay, bad, no question about it's bad, bad, bad, But is it the worst that it ever was? The answer is no, And so when you you know, it's like going to science class here. Earth School needs to There's a because you know, when you look around at all of the happenings, all the things, the way we just we kind of distort. We allow ourselves to be influenced by people who would distort the news. There is now online you can go to something called Earth School, which provides people with and education as to how well the Earth works? What's the heart and soul of our planet? Right? And this I'm looking at the syllabus for this. They have a course called the Earth's Intellect. Isn't that interesting? And the Earth is like it's a breathing thing like our bodies are. The Earth is a body and it's undeniable what we sell me a friend of mine in Italy this week. He sent me some pictures last night of what he was experiencing where he was. It was the most beautiful. I was just thinking and I sent a note back to him. He's one of them. He thinks spiritually like I do. And we were back and forth about the beauty of the Earth and how it takes care of itself and what wonders there are to see. He sent me a picture, right, outside of his window of Mount Vesuvius, which has been, you know, over the years, pretty destructive. It's an active volcano back in history. Lots of stuff about Yeah, I think of Pompeii. Yeah right, exactly, yep. So anyway, lots to be thankful for some of the things we've talked about this week. Maryland woman accused of plotting to carry out attacks on energy substations around Baltimore pleading guilty this week to federal conspiracy and firearms charges. Her name is Sarah Beth cln Danielle. She was charged with conspiring with a Florida based founder of a neo Nazi group to carry out attacks and what prosecutors described as a racism fueled plot to spark mass chaos. So I have a hard time, but I guess I need to grow up a little bit. All the hate that still is around. Baltimore is a fairly predominantly black city. I worked there for a couple of years, and I knowed I didn't like Baltimore, Frank, I never thought it was that I didn't. I just didn't feel comfortable there. I never did the inner city and the harbor and stuff and that kind of it's cool, but the rest of it. I was up in Caytonsville and I took the train into the radio studio every morning I would come back. I've lived there during the week and it was on my farm during the weekends. I don't feel comfortable. Never did. I just don't like Baltimore. You know, it's not anything to do with this sort of thing, except there always seemed to be in the energy of the city. There always seemed to be this tension. And that's what I read into it. There's always this white versus black thing, and it's been going on there. I was looking i left Summerson know that I came across some video of what it was like in America one hundred years ago, two hundred years ago in terms of black and white relationships. And you know, we have a lot of attention now black lives matter, that sort of thing, which I think is an unfortunate way to have handled the situation. But when you get down to brass tacks in some circumstances, in some cities, it's as bad now as it ever was, and Baltimore is an example of that. There's lots of racism there and the population I think about fourteen percent black, but most of them live in the same part of the city. And so, okay, what is there about somebody who's black that you don't like? You ever thought if you don't like them? And I would say this to black folks as well, what is there about white people that you don't like? Is it about all white people or all black people, or is it certain or anybody else in the mix? Yeah, like some people just and they're not born that way. Hatred is not born, Racism is not born. Prejudice is not born. It's taught, exactly. It's sociology over psychology in this instance. And it almost seems like to hate people, and to not just hate people but actively hate people has become, I hate to say, accepted, but people just kind of like turn the other way on it, or they just brush it under the rug, or it just seems like it's so much more prominent. And is it because of COVID and the shutdown and everything? Is it because of social media where you have the keyboard warriors who are just so quick to attack people. We've talked about it recently, where it feels like the public, like the public hobby is rage, right, offense, bitterness, go get him that kind of Yeah. Like, look at politics and with the it's all about the two parties, the two main parties, even though there are more than just Democrats and Republicans, and people might hate Trump or people might hate Biden, but then people are going to go the extra step to hate people who hate Trump, or to hate people who love Trump, or who we hate hate people don't like. Yeah, and I know you don't like that word hate, but that's how strong that a lot of people feel about it. Can you imagine just despising people because of anything like that? Yeah? Right, and you know what to go a step further with this, Jay the situation in the Middle East that you look at the Israelis versus the necessarily the Palestinians, but Amas and then as we end the week, focused on the governments of Ireland, Norway and Spain recognizing the Palestinians and recognizing a Palestinian state, which has been something that's been in the off well, it's been something that's been suggested for a long long time, pretty much since the beginning of the Israeli state. Now, the Israelis are really angry at the Irish government and the Norwegians and the Spanish. They got together this week and they're trying to get other European countries as well. The Israelis, especially Netnyaho's spouting off about this amounting to a reward for terror, and so the Israelis have brought their envoys back from these countries. That doesn't fix the situation. I guess the question here now that everybody's asking because of the I still have sympathies. We have sympathies for any group of people that have lost their lives in a circumstance like this. The questions about the facts here Hamas started this. Did the Israelis know about it? Yeah, it appears they did, but still they couldn't go attack. Well, I suppose they could have the sites. They knew that with the Hamas organization, where their encampments were, and where they were practicing. The ultimate goal of invading Israel, So to wipe out Hamas the is what they're trying to do. But in the meantime, they've taken a lot of they've taken a toll all of the civilian casualties. Yes, innocent people are dying, and that is happening at the same time where innocent people are still being held hostage. And we wonder why everybody is acting this way. She plans to use it for apparel. She wants to make hats and hoodies and socks and pants and t shirts and tops, and so she's filed under her own name. She's got a website, she has an Instagram account, Twitter account. So Marjorie Taylor Green responds to the application quote, I'm very happy with myself. I turned fifty next week, and I'm excited that I'm still alive and healthy and have done so much in my life. And I think, no matter what shape, size, or how we look, we need to be ourselves. Not telling women the only way to be attractive or accepted, accepted is to have fake boobs, fake hair, fake lashes, and injections into your face. So, having sat next to Marjorie Taylor Green on an airplane, I can tell you that she's she's not a hulk, but she's solid. She's an exercise video that's out there of her in the gym. She's no what she owned gyms, right, yeah, she did, she still does yeah right, yep. So she's worked, she works out all the time. I would say some women that do this do get fake boobs as they're mustling up and they lose their breasts and fat tissue and stuff. But anyway, I'm looking at the reason for this, there was something going on at the House Oversight Committee meeting, and so Green commented on her appearance and this. So they went back and forth like a couple of cats. Yeah yeah, oh yeah right. And so after they were as they were having a spat that the two of them were back and forth, Miss crocoded was Green, do you know what we're here for? And then Marjorie Taylor Green says, I don't think you know what you're here for. I think your fake eyelashes are a mess line. Whether you're reading is this that's the Trump era though? You know, that's the stuff that Trump is is very good at. And so some of it's rubbing off, but he's fun Like, I'm sorry, but he is funny. He's an entertainer. He did all of the stuff that was his personality on The Apprentice and he brought that into the presidency and how other people are trying to mimic it through the same thing. Yep, right.
