And before we take a deep dive into those concepts, 16 00:01:18.519 --> 00:01:23.359 there's a third definition of alchemy and its intent that might be closer to the 17 00:01:23.599 --> 00:01:27.959 truth, at least for us today. So when we dig into this 25 00:02:09.400 --> 00:02:16.960 word further, we find that hieroglyphically, the word kim describes the dark mystery 26 00:02:17.520 --> 00:02:24.080 of what is called first matter, or the the beginnings of creation. They call it first matter. She invented several kinds of chemical apparatus and wrote extensively on the alchymol 39 00:03:44.439 --> 00:03:51.919 process. One of her theories was that metals have a body, soul, 40 00:03:52.840 --> 00:03:59.919 spirit, and gender attributes, and that by combining certain male and female metal 41 00:04:00.080 --> 00:04:05.479 new metals, new entities could be made. So I just find this fascinating that he was this woman who was 44 00:04:19.279 --> 00:04:27.560 considered to be a prophet who was connected to the Coptic sect in Egypt, 45 00:04:28.079 --> 00:04:34.680 who was Jewish in Alexandria, did all of this amazing scientific, basically scientific 46 00:04:34.879 --> 00:04:41.519 work. One of her principles, which has become known as the axiom of 47 00:04:41.639 --> 00:04:46.480 Maria, became a guide for early alchemists.
