I 48 00:04:00.000 --> 00:04:04.159 want to talk about this because it's so dramatic. One of the major problems 49 00:04:04.199 --> 00:04:10.240 people have or misunderstanding, let's say it's more of a misunderstanding that creates a 50 00:04:10.280 --> 00:04:15.400 problem is that when people get treatment, they often think treatment for cancer, 51 00:04:15.520 --> 00:04:19.600 like chemo for cancer, is curative, the purpose of the treatment for cancer 52 00:04:19.720 --> 00:04:24.759 is curative, when in fact, most chemotherapy, in my view, is 53 00:04:24.800 --> 00:04:29.800 not curative at all. And I've always wondered why people will spend of their 54 00:04:29.839 --> 00:04:32.519 money or insurance money. Someone pays, most likely you and me and your 55 00:04:32.560 --> 00:04:38.879 neighbors and friends one hundred or two hundred thousand dollars for treatment that doesn't result 56 00:04:38.920 --> 00:04:43.120 and even a chance of cure. And what am I talking about? Well, 57 00:04:43.199 --> 00:04:46.600 people that have had treatment cancer comes back and they have recurrent cancer or 58 00:04:46.639 --> 00:04:50.920 stage four cancer and they go to a super duper pooper place and they think, 59 00:04:50.920 --> 00:04:54.959 oh, if that's super duper place and they've been offered treatment, it 60 00:04:55.079 --> 00:04:59.079 obviously is to cure them. Well, the truth of the matter, and 61 00:04:59.120 --> 00:05:03.959 we discussed this pretty much every day, is that most chemotherapy doesn't cure anybody. 62 00:05:04.360 --> 00:05:08.319 It may work for a few weeks or months at the beginning, and 63 00:05:08.399 --> 00:05:15.199 chemotherapy usually works better at the beginning before the cancer mutates. Cancer can mutate, 64 00:05:15.279 --> 00:05:18.079 and it does mutate. Cancer is not like a table or a chair. 65 00:05:18.600 --> 00:05:24.399 Cancer is like a living organism. And if you expose cancer to chemotherapy 66 00:05:24.959 --> 00:05:28.560 most commonly, and I'm talking mainly about recurrent or metastatic cancer, which is 67 00:05:28.600 --> 00:05:34.000 why most people get chemotherapy, the cancer then mutates and makes it resist the 68 00:05:34.079 --> 00:05:41.360 chemotherapy. And that means that the chemotherapy basically has a basically zero chance of 69 00:05:41.480 --> 00:05:45.920 curing the patient. So why are people racing and spending so much money. 70 00:05:45.920 --> 00:05:48.639 I've seen articles in the paper, Oh, please help poor Jim. He's 71 00:05:48.680 --> 00:05:51.920 got this terrible, rare cancer. But if he goes to a super duper 72 00:05:53.040 --> 00:05:58.680 place, the law firm some experimental treatment for eight hundred thousand dollars, which 73 00:05:58.720 --> 00:06:02.240 has zero chance of curing the patient. I remember vividly it was an overseas 74 00:06:02.319 --> 00:06:05.519 patient they had sarcomo. As a young man in the army, he was 75 00:06:05.560 --> 00:06:10.319 twenty five years old. He was raising money from those friends and neighbors to 76 00:06:10.360 --> 00:06:15.120 get eight hundred thousand dollars to give to a super duper place here in New 77 00:06:15.199 --> 00:06:19.839 York City that already has billions of dollars, knowing that he has metastatic sarcoma, 78 00:06:20.000 --> 00:06:25.879 knowing that that chemo or treatment will never in a million years cure him. 79 00:06:26.199 --> 00:06:29.480 And yet he's going and his family's going to all their friends and neighbors 80 00:06:29.480 --> 00:06:33.040 and loved ones and religious people and government to get eight hundred thousand dollars to 81 00:06:33.040 --> 00:06:39.439 give a treatment that has zero chance of cure. And in fact, I 82 00:06:39.480 --> 00:06:43.480 wrote the periodical in which this plea was made to say, Hey, you 83 00:06:43.519 --> 00:06:46.480 can come here to Radio Sart to New York for your metastatic cancer, and 84 00:06:46.519 --> 00:06:51.319 we can treat your cancer and the lung or the liver, or the bone 85 00:06:51.360 --> 00:06:56.920 marrow or the bone or the lymphanode wherever it might be, with a high 86 00:06:56.959 --> 00:07:00.319 degree of controlling the cancer. Where we aim to be, which is totally 87 00:07:00.360 --> 00:07:05.959 different than chemo chemo for metastatic cancer usually always fails, whereas with us ninety 88 00:07:05.959 --> 00:07:12.519 percent chance of the treatment working where we aim to beam is about ninety ninety 89 00:07:12.519 --> 00:07:15.000 percent chance where we am to being, whether it's through pancreas or liver or 90 00:07:15.079 --> 00:07:19.680 lymphanote or lung, ninety percent chance that cancer that we aim to beam and 91 00:07:19.720 --> 00:07:25.000 treat most likely will stay controlled, will stop or shrink or go away for 92 00:07:25.120 --> 00:07:29.199 the rest of the life of the patient, which is so different than chemotherapy. 93 00:07:29.639 --> 00:07:32.319 So I want to talk about this article by Kopecki and Campbell was in 94 00:07:32.360 --> 00:07:39.000 a journal called The Oncologists published this year, and they start out the article, 95 00:07:39.040 --> 00:07:44.519 I want to read exactly this a staggering sixty nine percent of patients receiving 96 00:07:44.680 --> 00:07:50.800 non curative chemotherapy for metastatic lung cancer and fifty percent of people receiving chemotherapy for 97 00:07:50.879 --> 00:07:58.319 advanced gastron testino hipatobilary or pancreas cancer, the patients report the goal of the 98 00:07:58.319 --> 00:08:01.920 treatment was to cure the cancer. The author's going to say similarly, eighty 99 00:08:01.959 --> 00:08:07.519 one percent of patients with metastatic colorectal cancer believe the chemotherapy they're receiving has a 100 00:08:07.560 --> 00:08:13.480 curative potential. The authors then say, why does this disconnect exist and what 101 00:08:13.600 --> 00:08:18.680 might we do to do about it? So they're saying here patients think, 102 00:08:20.319 --> 00:08:24.720 most commonly they're getting chemotherapy to cure them, when the doctors and of course 103 00:08:24.759 --> 00:08:30.399 the authors know that's not the case at all. So are doctors misleading the 104 00:08:30.439 --> 00:08:33.879 patient or they not stating the facts? And I can tell you so often 105 00:08:33.919 --> 00:08:37.320 I see patients that are come to me from super duper places. They think, 106 00:08:37.360 --> 00:08:39.240 Oh, if you're at super duper place and you pay two hundred thousand 107 00:08:39.279 --> 00:08:43.080 dollars, it must be to cure the patient. No, most commonly it's 108 00:08:43.200 --> 00:08:48.399 not. It's like putting your body in a bathtub a poison and knowing 116 00:09:18.440 --> 00:09:20.399 that it's not going to cure you, you may not be so eager to 117 00:09:20.440 --> 00:09:26.279 go rush out and have this chemo put in your body. Understand the clinical protocol or clinical trial is designed to test 139 00:10:54.840 --> 00:11:00.720 a treatment designed by the hospital or the doctors or the drug company, not 140 00:11:00.799 --> 00:11:03.440 to cure the patient, but to see what happens to a human being who 141 00:11:03.480 --> 00:11:07.360 gets these drugs. And there's different phases of testing one, two, three, 142 00:11:07.840 --> 00:11:13.000 stage one, say two to three clinical trials, and well, you 143 00:11:13.039 --> 00:11:16.559 have to understand why it is.
