Then he went to 57 00:04:30.959 --> 00:04:34.319 one of the biggest, super most famous hospitals in New York City, Manhattan, 58 00:04:34.360 --> 00:04:38.839 New York City. And when I talk about big hospitals, every hospital, 59 00:04:38.839 --> 00:04:42.519 if you talk to their president like I do the presidents of the hospitals, 60 00:04:42.560 --> 00:04:46.600 you'll hear that every hospital is the biggest super pooper place. But he 61 00:04:46.680 --> 00:04:50.560 happened to go to two of the biggest super pooper places. So a year 62 00:04:50.600 --> 00:04:54.240 ago, actually about a year and a half ago, he had a cough, 63 00:04:54.759 --> 00:04:56.959 he had a chest xtray, he had a cat scan, he had 64 00:04:57.000 --> 00:05:00.040 a mass in the lung. He had a biopsy that mass. It was 65 00:05:00.079 --> 00:05:04.319 squamous cancer. So had squamous cancer of the lung. He had skins of 66 00:05:04.360 --> 00:05:11.040 his body and the cancer already traveled to the bone, to the left hip 67 00:05:11.120 --> 00:05:15.480 bone. So he had stage four cancer. So there's for most cancers there's 68 00:05:15.560 --> 00:05:23.000 four stages. In stage one is localized, in stage two is usually more 69 00:05:23.040 --> 00:05:27.240 than localized. In stage three is with adjacent limpodes, and stage four meanings 70 00:05:27.680 --> 00:05:31.399 he got in the system and spread, so there's only four stages. And he went to 72 00:05:36.199 --> 00:05:42.360 the super duper hospital and he started on chemotherapy and he wasn't very satisfied. 73 00:05:42.399 --> 00:05:46.399 So they went to even a super puperius hospital and they tried to give him 74 00:05:46.480 --> 00:05:50.759 radiation to the hip because it was so painful, and then they gave him 75 00:05:50.759 --> 00:05:55.839 about a year, almost a year and a half of chemotherapy. And remember 76 00:05:55.959 --> 00:06:00.399 chemotherapy, first of all, it's costly, chemotherapy. What is therapy? 77 00:06:00.439 --> 00:06:03.600 People like to ask that question all the time. Well, chemotherapy most commonly, 78 00:06:03.600 --> 00:06:08.879 and it can include immunotherapy or chemotherapy. There are chemicals that go in 79 00:06:08.959 --> 00:06:13.000 the body or substances that go in the body most commonly, not always, 80 00:06:13.000 --> 00:06:15.600 but most commonly, Like as if you're going to put your body in a 81 00:06:15.639 --> 00:06:20.040 bathtub of poison, because these are these materials are in general poison to try 82 00:06:20.079 --> 00:06:25.800 to poison the cancer. They try to poison the cancer more than the rest 83 00:06:25.839 --> 00:06:30.040 of the body. So that's how the treatments work. And unfortunately, sad 84 00:06:30.079 --> 00:06:33.560 to say, for almost all cancers. There are a few exceptions like Lance 85 00:06:33.639 --> 00:06:40.759 Armstrong had testicular cancer and that's one of the few cancers where chemotherapy can cure 86 00:06:40.800 --> 00:06:46.800 the patient. But for most all cancers, chemotherapy's goal is not to cure. 87 00:06:46.639 --> 00:06:49.680 So you can say, heck, why am I taking this treatment if 88 00:06:49.680 --> 00:06:53.560 it's not to cure or what I mean. First of all, it's costly. 89 00:06:53.600 --> 00:06:58.519 The average chemotherapy is ten or twenty thousand dollars a month. Yeah, 90 00:06:58.560 --> 00:07:01.439 you heard a ten or two hours a month, which means is more than 91 00:07:01.480 --> 00:07:04.959 one hundred thousand dollars or two hundred thousand dollars a year. Remember this young 92 00:07:05.000 --> 00:07:09.959 man forty eight has had almost a year and a half of chemos. We're 93 00:07:09.959 --> 00:07:15.160 talking about two two hundred and fifty thousand dollars of chemo, and the prices 94 00:07:15.199 --> 00:07:17.680 are more at the biggest places, of course, sad to say. And 95 00:07:17.720 --> 00:07:21.079 it didn't work, and they kept on gave him the treatment, and he 96 00:07:21.160 --> 00:07:28.160 kept on getting side effects. And he came to me yesterday and he came 97 00:07:28.199 --> 00:07:31.000 to me complaining of what he said was neuropathy in the leg. He had 98 00:07:31.040 --> 00:07:35.639 pain in the leg, that's what he said. And he was losing weight. 99 00:07:36.079 --> 00:07:40.879 He lost almost forty five pounds. He was big man, went from 100 00:07:41.240 --> 00:07:44.600 three hundred and twenty down to two hundred and seventy five pounds, as height 101 00:07:44.639 --> 00:07:48.879 as five't ten. He never smoked. He never smoked, So there's 102 00:07:48.879 --> 00:07:54.879 another sign of someone who has lung cancer but didn't smoke. But he said 103 00:07:54.920 --> 00:07:58.639 he had some nine to eleven exposure. And I think more importantly to that, 104 00:07:58.720 --> 00:08:03.199 he grew up in a household his mother smoked all the time, so 105 00:08:03.319 --> 00:08:05.920 he was at home with his mother for the first twenty years of his life, 106 00:08:05.959 --> 00:08:11.040 so he had secondhand smoke pretty much for the first twenty years of his 107 00:08:11.079 --> 00:08:16.480 life. His bowels were okay, had colonoscopy, which was a good idea, 108 00:08:16.519 --> 00:08:20.879 as PSA was okay. And well, he came to me with cancer 109 00:08:20.120 --> 00:08:24.279 growing. And he had been on a variety of treatments. He was at 110 00:08:24.319 --> 00:08:28.680 his biggest super pooper hospital. He had been on carbo platinum packs of taxa, 111 00:08:28.879 --> 00:08:33.320 he'd been on pembro, he had been on a variety of medicine's chemotherapy 112 00:08:33.360 --> 00:08:39.519 and it just wasn't working. And he came to me, and I went 113 00:08:39.600 --> 00:08:45.200 through his documents, and I examined him and I asked him questions, and 114 00:08:46.120 --> 00:08:50.720 well, it became obvious that this chemotherapy had actually had never been working. 115 00:08:50.000 --> 00:08:54.320 So he had a year and a half of chemotherapy that was never working. 116 00:08:54.360 --> 00:08:58.039 For example, he had a leashon in his hip that they radiated and gave 117 00:08:58.120 --> 00:09:03.679 chemo two. Well, usually neuropathy. Usually neuropathy is a side effect of 135 00:10:18.919 --> 00:10:22.720 chemo, and lots of people who have chemo have numbness or pain in the 136 00:10:22.840 --> 00:10:26.759 hands and feet, which is kind of the poisoning of the chemotherapy against the 137 00:10:26.879 --> 00:10:31.480 nerves and there's much more delicate in the hands and the feet. So if 138 00:10:31.519 --> 00:10:33.480 you know someone who's getting chemotherapy, m'd ask him, hey, do you 139 00:10:33.480 --> 00:10:37.919 have neuropathy? Do you have pain or numbness in the hands and feet? 140 00:10:37.960 --> 00:10:41.639 And so many have it. And it's so hard for the patient who has 141 00:10:41.679 --> 00:10:46.159 neuropathy from chemotherapy because it's nothing you can measure, it's nothing you can see. 142 00:10:46.200 --> 00:10:50.759 So the patient tells you, hey, I've got this pain and numbness 143 00:10:50.799 --> 00:10:54.279 and difficulty. And some people have so much neuropathy they can barely walk because 144 00:10:54.320 --> 00:10:58.879 it's damaged the nerves of their feet. So this man was saying he had 145 00:10:58.919 --> 00:11:01.360 neuropathy, but in fact, it wasn't neuropathy that he had that was bothering 146 00:11:01.440 --> 00:11:07.159 him. It was his cancer that was growing massively in the hip. And 147 00:11:07.200 --> 00:11:11.559 his doctors never told him that. His doctors never told him that there's two 148 00:11:11.639 --> 00:11:16.279 new masses eating through the pelvic bones, but there's a new mass in the 149 00:11:16.320 --> 00:11:20.600 spine, there's new masses in the ribs. And what are they planning? 150 00:11:20.919 --> 00:11:24.279 More and more chemo, more and more chemo. Well, clinical trial means that they have no idea what to do, 157 00:11:50.799 --> 00:11:54.480 they've exhausted their ideas, and so they're going to do a concoction. 158 00:11:54.679 --> 00:12:00.879 Usually he's put together by drug companies or hospitals, and usually the drug companies 159 00:12:00.879 --> 00:12:03.480 are looking to experiments because they were all kind of like a guinea pig to 160 00:12:03.639 --> 00:12:09.759 experiment, because we want to see if we can safely give this concoction to 161 00:12:09.840 --> 00:12:13.000 this person and see if the concoction works, and more important, it doesn't 162 00:12:13.080 --> 00:12:16.679 kill the person or harm the person. They're never being told the truth.
