Next thing, we knew 497 00:35:39.239 --> 00:35:45.119 that this investigation was growing into an investigation of multiple rapes of multiple victims over 498 00:35:45.159 --> 00:35:51.480 the course of the past several years. Basically, what the allegations were was 499 00:35:51.559 --> 00:35:57.679 that Joseph Eubank hadn't been raping and sexually abusing girls in his class, or 500 00:35:57.719 --> 00:36:00.480 that he was familiar with. I guess not technically in his class, although 501 00:36:00.519 --> 00:36:04.039 it started out that way, because the rape allegations went all the way back 502 00:36:04.039 --> 00:36:07.360 to when he was an eighth grader in middle school and continued throughout his high 503 00:36:07.400 --> 00:36:10.280 school career, but the earliest one was when he was still an eighth grader. 504 00:36:10.320 --> 00:36:16.280 He ultimately pled guilty to rape in sexual abuse four different counts, four 505 00:36:16.320 --> 00:36:21.000 different felony counts, and accepted a twenty five year prison sentence. They don't actually go to adult prison right away. They go to 508 00:36:28.960 --> 00:36:32.679 a juvenile facility until they turned eighteen years old, and an eighteen years old 509 00:36:32.880 --> 00:36:37.639 usually the juvenile goes on to an adult prison at like eighteen years. But I had never seen that happen on someone 515 00:37:04.079 --> 00:37:07.840 who had a sentence that would run them past their twenty first birthday. It never anything that I had ever seen used by the Department 518 00:37:19.400 --> 00:37:22.320 of Juvenile Justice related to somebody that was convicted not just of rape, but 519 00:37:22.440 --> 00:37:30.239 of raping and victimizing, sexually abusing four different teenage girls. Rather than fight 520 00:37:30.360 --> 00:37:36.760 that lawsuit, Andy Basher's Department of Juvenile Justice has rolled over and played dead 521 00:37:36.960 --> 00:37:38.599 basically and said, okay, we'll just how about you know, we'll just 522 00:37:38.679 --> 00:37:42.320 keep you here until you're twenty one. She's been a good judge, very thoughtful and methodical judge.
