He won one last year, now he won one this year and it was a big one. Tammy Abraham won the Ladies Championship, the record breaking Ladies Championship, the largest Ladies Championship INSP history. The Man, the Myth, the Legend, Phil Hellmuth, the greatest of all time. Okay, possibly, but no most decorated. I will say I will give you most decorations. I will give you most decorated in terms of WSP titles, because that is what he is. God. He won his seventeenth World Series of Poker gold bracelet. I was gonna say late last night, but it was really super early this morning. It was five to five thirty in the morning. If you can believe it, um. He won the ten thousand dollars Super Turbo Bounty for eight hundred and three thousand, eight hundred and eighteen dollars, one of the largest scores of his tournament career, the second largest score as it pertains to all of his seventeen goal bracelet winste The only one that was bigger was the WSP europe Victory bracelet wins the other the other biggest one I think was seven hundred seventy seven or fifty five K when he won the WSP Manament. I know him right, I wrote this, Yeah, yeah, it was just thrown up by something. But continue. It's his tenth no limit hold him bracelet. Yeah, his ninety ninth no limit hold him cash. Is that overall or just at the World Series of Poker? Just one serious? This world? We only care about the one series, okay, just making sure one hundred ninety seventh WSP cash. So he's knocking on the door of two hundred and then his seventy second World Series of Poker final table. This event, as we talked about yesterday, extremely good turnout, six hundred and forty two entries, nearly six million dollars in the prize school phil Hellmuth makes his run to the seventeen cold bracelet, had to go through phil Ivy to get there. Phil Ivey made the final table as well. Yeah took six that he just ain't good enough to get it done. Well, you know when you move all in with the king ten of diamonds and mister Helmey just wakes up with two aces the ace burg trapped him. He didn't wake up. He trapped him, trapping trap. He hadn't acted yet, So phil Helmy's busted. Phil Ivy en route to this seventeenth Devisip Gold Bracelet, he got heads up with Justin Zachie. Justin Zaki's been around for quite a bit of time now, um always seems to kind of be knocking on the door of a major title. Has been close in some WPT events, has been close in some World Series of Poker events, but as yet to win one of those two titles just yet. But he took home more than four and a thousand dollars for his efforts, so a very good score as well. The final hand saw both players see the flop of king eight four with two spades. It was eight four of spades. They get it all in Helmy's got eight four her bottom two pair. Justin Zachie's got seven six of spades, so a flush drawn a straight job tapped him again gutter to a straight flush. The turn is just a four, rendering Zachie all but dead because he needs to hit the five of spades on the river in order to make a straight flush. He doesn't. And that's all she wrote for Justin Zachie and Phil Hellmuth takes it down five in the morning. What was it? I don't even twenty local time, super ely, I mean crazy, It's just it's kind of funny how we had been talking about, well, you know, producer Rich his tweet, his take about who's gonna be the first to catch Phil. You know, he said Jason Mercier. Then Jason Urcer goes and wins the race. I mean, I don't know. Maybe Philhamuth falls Rich on Twitter. I know they had a really long interview years ago in the Borgota food court for like three hours or something something absurd um, So I don't know, maybe they're boys and he saw Rich and he was like, you know, I guess I guess day you challenge exactly because then he goes out and wins this. Ye. Um, maybe he heard us chirping on the podcast the other day, how we were saying, you know, it's been kind of a lackluster summer for Ivy, Nikron, you and Helmuth. But the all three of them, they all delivered yesterday. Yeah, I mean, well they didn't win. The other two didn't win. Yeah, but I mean I know, good, very good. Yes, But you know, Helmy just decided to do it all, just win it all, win the whole damn thing. He's just trapped them, trapped them into thinking he ain't got it anymore when he still has it. This all took place last night. Um, you saw some videos on social media or whatnot of like Hellmuth they were super super close and chips on the final hand, it was the first hand of heads up play. They were just about tied. They had to break down the chips, count all the stacks. Um, I'm sure that wasn't easy to do when you've been working for who knows how many hours and it's five in the morning. How many gets the word that he won and he's running up and down the aisle. This all took place over in Paris, So this was supposed to be a one day of you there to let's just get into this. There's a been a lot of talk, been a lot of criticism thrown at poker Go for not streaming this event. Ye here's what happened, full transparency. At one fifteen am, I walked from Horseshoe over to Paris. Yes, you were leaving, and I said, well, I'm gonna go over there and I'm gonna see what the deal is and then I'll address the situation. Also said that I'm pretty sure they're gonna bag because the other two bounties did, so I'm out of Yeah, and they have. They have been the tournaments that have gone super late, they have been bagging, Like, you know, tournaments that are scheduled for three days that are down to three players, they would bag them and bring them back next day, even if it's like, well why don't they just finish it out? You know, No, they've been bagging them. It's been that's they've been doing all summer long. So I said, you know what, let me just go over there. Obviously, this thing is a super turbot twenty minute levels. It's just it's crazy, like they're getting all in every hand. I get it right. So I go over there's two tables left. I talked to the floor. I said, you know, what's the plan? He said, I've been instructed to bag them? Okay, he said, are you guys nine? Well he said, he said, I don't know if it's gonna be nine or eight or seven, but I've been instructed to bag them when they get to a final table. I said, okay, cool, that makes sense. I'm with our photographer. I said to our photographer, you don't need to stick around to a winner because obviously they're gonna bag them. There's not gonna be a winner. We'll just do it tomorrow, No big deal. Why don't you just shoot around and then we'll head on home. So he shoots around, we head home. That's that. As I'm like walking to my car, I text Mari and I say, hey, you know they're going to bag them tonight over there. So there's a chance we get an absolute all time final table with ivy n hell youth. There's a chance we're gonna get there's a really good chance we're gonna get at least one of them for sure, you know, So let's try and you know, start thinking of the puzzle. Puzzle pieces that we need to move around to get this thing streamed. Then I woke up at five am and fell on me this heads up and I'm like, what did that happened? So I guess they I don't know, like if it was pushed back from the players or what the deal was. Listen, we've obviously been in spots before where you know, we've tried to stop bigger name players and they try and lobby, you know, use their their name, power, their stature to to be able to push things. So I don't know if that happened. You know, I don't know what what happened last night, because, like I said, we had gone home. We were under the impression that it was going to bag and that we were gonna try and somehow stream it today. We also knew that today it would probably be an easy thing to stream and adjust the schedule because we were only streaming the Ladies Championship. Okay, with this being a super Turbo, it was not gonna last that long, right, So like worst case scenario, maybe we say to the Ladies Imagship, Hey, we're gonna start you an hour later. We're gonna finish this tournament and then we're gonna put you guys up there so everyone still gets their play. Like, you know, we weren't gonna like do something where we were just going to kick the ladies off and have the super turbo bouncy on like no that you know, we're gonna we were gonna the goal was to do both if it came to it. But it didn't come to it because helm it wins at five in the morning, which you know, listen, we're with a lot of the viewers out there. We want to stream it, like we want to try and stream as much things as possible. I mean, that's how it actually iconic. Even even before even before that thing happened last night, we were having conversations. You were in the conversations about how can we stream the duce to seven? Yeah, you know, we got like ne Grani's making a run, like we gotta like, we gotta start, we got to switch the table lot, we gotta do this. We're gonna do that, like who's available, Like we're you know, like we're having these conversations. We're trying to get it done. Unfortunately Daniel goes out, you know, so you know it kind of goes away like that that those are just the breaks in production. So trying to, you know, just offer a little bit of transparency there. Maybe that a little bit too much information. I don't know, but you know, I believe in transparency across all things, and I think you guys need to hear it from us for how things went down. So unfortunately it broke that way. That said, still an incredible moment of Phil Helmeth winning his seventeenth dobish would be gold bracelet at what is a record setting World Series of Poker. Yeah, gonna be our record setting WISP main event, you know, I mean it's going to be that. I mean so yeah. The best thing is we will get to stream his eighteenth bracelet when he wins the main event this year. Well he can get second to me. How about that? No, he's winning, then I'll take second, Finn. Yeah, I'll be fine with it. I'll be totally found. Could you imagine if if he made the event, who would be the biggest to make the vent found table? Would it be ivy negran New or Helmy? I think it would be negroned. Actually, I think that would be a bigger thing than a helmet. I know that the stats obviously laying towards Phil, but I think Grano being I don't know if the stats would lean towards Phil. I think the stats might lean towards Daniel. So no, no, I mean the stats is in he'll be gone for his eighteenth the bracelet. Oh that's a big statistic than that. You're talking for viewership? No, no, no not. I just think the Grano audience would really gravitate to that, and we would be able to have an insane, uh, insane viewership for that one. You know, if I get heads out with Phil, bracelet's his, He's just gonna hand it over. Bill. You deserve this. It really well. I used to have this crazy dream years ago, ten years ago, whatever, because he used to have all these guys had all these bracelet the bets, chief among them was Phil. I used to like he used to hear about these bracelet the bets that he had like seven figures on the line, all the sort of crap. Right remember that year that's uh who was it was it? Simon Watts, Tom Dwan and like was gonna break the poker community and like you know, like Mike mass I was running in and out of that that little like Thunderdome area where that they had and like the guy want He's like, you know, we're there going to hang a poster of his face in Bobby's room, like you know, all this sort of stuff like that was just epic, epic epic. Um. But like if you're let's say you're let's say I would get in Simon watch shoes and your heads up with Tom down. You're aware of the bracelet bets, wouldn't you be like, hey, how much are these worths? How much is this bracelet worth to you? Two million? Yeah, let's make it. You know, you can have the bracelet, slide me one point five million and you're you're good to go. I'll make it look good too, like you know what I mean, like make a deal. Yeah, Like if it's worth that much, if he's you know, if you have some astronomical bracelet butt, you're gonna win two million dollars on okay, Okay, give me five hundred k extra and you can go nuts, like I mean sure, yeah, I mean that would just be like the dream moment, right, um, Okay, Moving on the Doyle Brunson Celebration of Life. This took place at the Jubilee theater starting at mid day today on Sunday, pretty large group overall of family friends, ends, poker industry members. You had people from Gig Poker, from the WPT, from poker stars from Aria, from obviously the world Treo's of poker, and Caesars. You had the Brunson family was all there. You had you know, fellow poker players that were close to him. You had fellow poker players and you know gamblers and friends that grew up with Doyle. Like you had a whole ton of people there. Then you had a whole bunch of fans as well, like you know, that was just like the front like quote unquote VIP section, and then you had all like you had media there too. Like it was, there was a lot of people there. The Jubilee Theater was was packed. Brian BALLSBA Doyle's longtime friend and agent, did a really good job with you know, kind of being the the MC in a lot of ways to this thing, you know, kicking it off, giving a speech, um, kind of helping to introduce some of the speakers. The speakers were Brian Balls, but as I just mentioned, Dewey Tomko was here, President of Poker Grow, Mari Eskandani gave a speech. Gabe Kaplan, who was hilarious. It was so good. Him and Doyle very good, Lil Burman U, Phil Helmy, Daniel and the Grand New and then Todd Brunson as well, and and Phil Hellmy with them. Pretty sure didn't sleep. I mean he might have gotten a little nappin a little forty five minute power out. Yeah, I mean he I'm assuming he didn't get so after he won yesterday they walked him all the way back over here to take the photos on the main stage, So he probably didn't get out of here until six am minimum plus some interviews. Yes, yes, exactly so, and then he's got to be back for this thing. I mean he was there like he was on eleven forty five, you know. So yeah, not a not a quick turnaround for phil Holmleys, but he made it there. Um, so yeah, he was very good. I thought Dewey, Tom goes Uh speech was very good. Yeah, everyone's opinion also spoke. Yeah, everyone was fantastic. Daniels was funny. I mean, Todd's was hilarious. You know, it's obviously very close to him with him being his dad and whatnot, but you know, he he kept it somewhat lighthearted given the situation, but that's tall you know, He's always kind of joking in his own like fun and loving way, and it was it was very endearing. It was great. Um, they gave about some special like commemorative cards. Um. Towards the end of it all, Brian Ballswood came together and announced Doyle Brunson Day is going to be on ten two, which is October second. Basically that's going to be you know, a celebration of Doyle and a celebration of poker. Yeah, right whatever to get out and play some clouds basically. Yeah. There was a bunch of different video clips and highlights were shown like you know throughout the whole thing, like you know, in between all the speeches. One that it was kind of it was different clips from the same thing, but it happened, you know, two or three times was a Dove runs in documentary that it is supposed to be coming because it's you know, it's set on the screen door runs in documentary like upcoming or whatever. So that'll be very cool looking forward to that. Obviously, Doyle was just incredible. Um. There was some stories that were told that I had never heard about Doyle. One that you know sticks out top of my was the stuff that Dewey Tomco was talking about about how Doyle um spent all this time, effort and money to have these um water wells builds in Africa and all these different countries and then basically his wife Luise would go over there and like help set him up. And they cost like fifteen hundred dollars a piece, which you know is a good amount of money even in today's world, but years ago was a lot more money, right, and and Doyle did this and he had, you know, according to Dewey, I think he said, hundreds of them built and m kind of an honor of all of Doyle's like friends and you know, people that were really close with him. Luis was naming them after their friends. Yeah, So like you had like the chipperess well or pump or whatever it was, and then you had the Tomco one. Like all this sort of stuff. Sou that was extremely cool, Um that that happened. The poker production team was was there to kind of well one produce it because there was a lot of multi media that was happening in the moment. But then also to you know, get some footage, photos and all that sort of stuff. We're gonna plan to hopefully release something big shout out to pay Ye, put the all the video montages together and cut the photos, the music and made that show run incredibly smooth, because it's always a little tough with you know, kind of celebrations memorials where things drag on or it just doesn't flow, and this was, you know, rand absolutely amazingly. Yeah, it was. It was great to be there. Um, you know, it was good to see everyone. It was great to hear from everyone about Doyle, what they meant to him, tell some stories. So yeah, I'm assuming we're gonna probably release that at some point. I don't know if it's going to be like during the main events or I think we're saving it probably till October second. Yeah, so we'll see. Maybe we put some stuff in during the obviously main event. I don't know, you know, that's a whole different that's yeah, that that's that's possible. Yeah, but um, but it was very cool. So, um, stay tuned for that one. It does eventually, you know, come out, and we'll talk about it when it does. But before we move on, we got to kick it to the interview that Tim did with Gabe Kaplan after the Celebration of Life. Gabe, I know you've probably been told this a lot that you know, people grew up with Welcome Back Carter. I grew up watching Welcome Back Carter. But I'm in my mid thirties, which is a little odd. But I want to talk to you firstly about a little bit about TV, and then we're going to some poker. Nine seasons of High Stakes Poker. When Morey asked you, okay, come commentate here with AJ, what were your initial thoughts on that request. Well, I didn't like more to begin with it, So I said, it's going to be very tough to deal with this man. You know, has anyone will tell you who was stuff will marry. He's a very very tough man to deal with, you know, tough to negotiate with, to just to be around. You know, it is not a pleasant man to be around. So for nine seasons I sort of just tucked it in and did my best and try to get along as best I can. You stepped away this year season ten, but because the more because of more yeah, wait more. I would have done a hundred seasons, but it was more. You know, it's constant calling me. What are you wearing today? How are you dressing? What kind of what are you putting on your hair? How are you gonna look? You know what's happening? You know? Can you bring me something to eat? You know, I'm hungry. I got tired of it. No, I completely understand that. I'm wondering, where do you see the future of poker on TV going? You know, especially with Poker Go Anywhere without more? You know, as long as it tries to include more, is it gonna be a problem. That's uh, it's just my thoughts. You know, I could be wrong, you know what I mean, Some people like more. But you've had obviously a lung career on TV. Welcome Back, Caught Up, High Sex Poker, we mentioned all that. Is it something that you wish you had achieved over the last you know, fifty ideas? Yes, I wanted to win the Triple Crown as a race horse, you know, I wanted to just get that Kentucky Derby under my belt. Good to the Preakness feel that, you know, I had that chance to get all three of them, but you know, I never they never let me into the Derby. So I never got the shot I was. I was a really robust three year old, and I think I could have done it. I think I had a shot. Let me put it that way. I had a shot throwing at the PARKA last night. You're cashing the super Tub of Bounty, your first cash in sixteen years here at the WSP. What made you kind of what was the decision behind you know, jumping and that well, I was sort of thrown in. You know, people just said, why don't you play? You you can't do it? And I said, you know, I was doing this tribute to Doyle today and it was the one day event, and I said, okay, I'm gonna I'm gonna try and see what I can do. And you know, it's a really aggressive tournament. Everybody knows this last thing one day, the blinds go up every twenty minutes. Oh I caught a few hands, got a little lucky, and then last then I got unlucky. So that's how it is. But it was it was really fun playing another tournament over your career. You touched on, you know, Doyle Cossius thirty two million dollars in UH in your in your career. But thirty thirty four millions. Sorry, you know, we were talking about your poker career. You've had a second couple of thirds or fifth year at the WSP, you have a third on on the WPT. You know you've won events, but WSP goal would elluse you. Is that something you really wanted to get or is it just you know, a part time poker player, you know, oh, well, something that would have been nice. But I you know, I haven't really played a lot. I never played a lot. I would play maybe two three tournaments a year, and then um, then I stopped playing. So they told me it's hard to get a bracelet if you stopped playing. And I didn't believe it. I thought, you know, at just some point, I'm just gonna get one. It's just gonna appear. And but no, I mean it would be nice, and I might, who knows, playing a few more events and I could get real lucky. So might happen? Still, you in the in the book Pucker Face Too, you there's a lot of images of you smiling, enjoying yourself playing back in those days at the Whole Shoe. Was that the kind of atmosphere it was, you know, enjoyable time, was it still mean, you know, everybody knew each other. Back then, there was just a small group of people that played, you know, and it was fifty sixty people in the tournament. Everybody knew each other. You played in the side games, so it was more camaraderie. And now on the other hand, you get a chance to meet a lot of new people and talk. So so both, you know, both have their benefits. But at that point, when you're talking about those pictures, you everybody knew everybody, and it was it was kind of fun to do to play with people you really knew. Final question for me. You know, we've talked a lot today about Doyle and remembering Doyle. What do you want to be remembered for? Is that comedian being a comedian? Is it being a poker player? Like? What is how you want to be remembered? Well, my dream was to win a triple crown and h since that never happened. Uh, just want to be remembered, you know as a guy that tried to do whatever he could and try to stay away from Morey as much as he could. Thank you very much. I'm gonna go to more room. Okay, I'm joking about all the stuff because he's standing right here. I wanted to throw it to more really quickly. Obviously, you've worked with Gabe a long time. Come on, you have to have a story about him you can share with us. Oh, I got many stories show now, not that he opened it up like that way. I can share many, many stories now, one story. I mean these two opening season of High Stakes Poker, maybe a couple the network executives will come and sit in the video room. And then he made a joke and he laughed, so they kill it. Now we can't have this, nor network, we can't. It was just like that was the worst part of it, Like, you know, he came out, so this is gonna work. They wouldn't they wouldn't allow it. So one of them was the director. I'm not gonna say that. There was a there was a director in the game. And one of the poker players said, do you guys know him? A couple of people said knows he did, he did blow he did movie below. It's it's a bigger love love story than a pretty woman, and Gabe goes, yeah, the poker players every time there's a prostitute in the show, it's a love story. Of course. And every time there's a hooker, every time there's a hooker, and any show, it's a love story with poker players and me. Laughs. They didn't make the show. Every time I got in trouble high stakes poker was because of this gentleman right here. Every time he wouldn't listen to him. Seems in really good spirits. You know, he's telling jokes to me, you know, Jos, he's great. He's sending some blame to Mari. It was great. It was actually very very interesting. Yeah, we'll see if see if Gabe gets in the Dumbstman events. He did hop in the Super Turbot Bounty. Yeah, kept cash. He did cash. So we'll see if he also hops into the WSP main event, and if he is, will certainly be following him as he goes. Ten thousand dollars no limit Duced to seven Single Draw Championship is next up on the list. One hundred and fifty four entries. In this one, Chris Brewer wins it all for three hundred and sixty seven thousand, six hundred dollars, his second dubis Apegal bracelet, his second Peagal bracelet. This summer, he won the two hundred and fifty thousand dollars super high roller for a whole crap ton of money, and now he wins this tournament. He's now second in the Player of the Year pending the stat update, but it looks like he's now moved ahead of Seawan Dive and is behind Ian Matacus. He's the ninety second player per stack guy Tim over Here to win two bracelets in a year. He's the second player to do it this year. Chad eve Sledge did it right out of the gate. He won the fifteen hundred dollar Dealer's Choice and then he won the ten k Dealer's Choice in the span of a week. So I have to remember Chad eve Sledge for that. Um, But Chris Brewer has done it now. He's a ninety second player to win two bracelets in a year. As I said, twenty four consecutive years at the World Series of Poker a player has won two bracelets, which yeah, two or more, which is wild. You know, that's that's kind of crazy. Yeah, um. After and then also this event took what five days, six days, seven days? Yes, I think we hit the seventh day eventually. I think this was it was scheduled for three days. This was the fourth day. UM. So very long drawn out events, very good structure in this one. As we mentioned earlier, Daniel Legron who got fifth place. UM, Chris Brewer beat Alex Livingston and heads a play, and then David od b Baker finished in third. Chris Fitch took fourth. So UM and now we'll throw it to the interview with Chris Brewer. Like, Chris Brewer two bracelets. Now, if I would have told you coming into the summer that you're gonna win two goal bracelets, what would you have said to me? I would have said that seems unlikely. I mean, because it's possible, but it obviously must feel really good. You know, you were known for quite a long time of the guy who just took some crazy beats, got really unlucky and some really super big spots. That kind of changes. Do you win the two hundred fifty k Super high Roller. Now you win one of the toughest tournaments of the year as well, the ten K deucee. How's it feeling overall? Yeah, it feels great. I've just been getting hit in the face by the deck, Like I don't think anyone could have lost the tournament with my colts. To be honest, I the deck just chose me and it was very fun when that sort of stuff happens. Do you ever worry about up tilt um? No, that's I mean, like the two fifty K moles while like I want it, and it's like I'm gonna go play like the three K six max. I want to. I want to like always try my best and like play the best I'm capable of. So that I felt it a little too, like we felt like I was playing out like ninety or ninety five percent. But in general, it's not something I'm too consoled about. I kale so much about how well I'm playing, compelled to like the money that usually winning. I don't know. I have a lot of mental game leads, but I don't think I think one thing I'm strong about is I am putting a wale of aliens either way. So when I win, I don't think it means I'm the best or something. When you win the two hundred fifty K high Roller, you drew a little bit of similarities to your running career, and you said specific to that you felt like you had kind of left something on the track in a lot of ways. Is that kind of always in the back of your mind as it comes to poker that you want to then give your all for sure? Yeah, one hundred percent. I want to just know whenever all I'm done playing pokel WHATEVERL that I tried as hard as I can And I'd really like to have like a good legacy in this game. Now that you've won two bracelets, you have a lot of trading titles, you have a bunch of wins in your career in general, kind of what's the next goal? Keep winning? I mean I was thinking about this actually, I was staying next to La and he was talking about like the Pocohol of Fame stuff, and like there's so many guys. I mean, I assume Bryan Master would get in this shield, but like, I think it would be really cool to have a long, successful careal and like someday be able to get into that with like that group of guys. And I mean, I'm no will closed fy now, my resume is not remotely impressive compared all those people. But if you're talking like a long Ton goal, like that is something I want to have a legacy and become like one of the Battle players of all time. But it's a long way to get though, all right. The fifty thousand dollars pot limit Omaha high Roller, this absolute crazy event. Two hundred entries, Holy two. It was I think it was seven thirty one for the ten k PLO Championship, which was a record, okay. Then it was four one hundred and forty nine for the twenty five k Polo high Roller, which was a record by a lot. Now two hundred in the fifty KPLO high Roller, also a record by a lot, okay. Absolutely incredible scenes out of the Omaha players. Here at the twenty twenty three World Trees of Poker, Jesse Lonus wins it all the fifty k PLO high Roller for two point three million dollars, his second UBISIP goal bracelet. He won an online bracelet last year. Now he caps it off with this one. Ian Matakas cash in this event. What place did he take do you know? Nine ninth, so extending his Player of the Year lead by a little bit. You know. Obviously we just talked about Chris Brewer moving into second place with his success recently, so Ian Mataicas is still on top. And then Shaun Deeve, who I think is still in the money. I see, I see the Sparkley hat. You can't miss the disco ball of the hat across the room. Standing up to bust is no, I think they're they're breaking tables. Okay, they're breaking tables. You know who else just stood up? King the King John John reord In the third. I don't know if he really is the third, but King John ord In the Third just sounds way more like royalty. Baby. Yea, let's go both of our horses in the money over there. Boys, for the love of God, please make the final table together. Yeah? Please, we need it. We absolutely need it. Um As, of course, we're referencing twenty five K fantasy. But back to Jesse Loonis. Afterwards, I spoke with him, Jesse, his fiancee. They have one twenty one month year old and they have another one on the way. He got a little bit emotional in the interview, a little bit teered up talking about how he's got money now to put his kids through college. So here's the interview with Jesse Loanis. All right, Jesse Loanis, Uh, see some emotions brewing here? How does this fun feel? Man? It's unbelievable. It kind of it just came at me fast. I couldn't really think about it. I the final table lasted probably an hour and a half. I was just it was just unbelievable. I actually had amazing card distribution. Obviously I knocked out every single player, so obviously I was getting the good side of the deck. And it was just a lot of just a lot of practice to get to this moment and feel great. Practice, Like you know, how do you rank your PLO game? You obviously play a lot of nolam and hold them, but people might not know you as a PLO guy. Yeah, I mean secretly, I play polo probably three four hours every night, play online, cast multiple tables at a time, so people may think that I don't know what I'm doing. I'd like to kind of give off that vibe. It benefits me, I think they think because they think I'm crazy and loosen and just reckless. But there's a it's controlled chaos, so I know it. It seems crazy, but it was controlled. At the same time. It was just crazy. Obviously, you gotta win some hands in PLO, and it was just an awesome, awesome time. Ever since you came onto the scene. You've had a lot of success, but you also have a lot of support from your friends. You got a whole bunch of people over there waiting for this photo. So last question here. You know, how how important is it to have all the support of everyone within the community. Yeah, it's amazing. Um My fiance Meg and she she's always there for me. We got another baby come in August eleven. Say so sorry this emotional so hopefully you know, I got my kids set for college and everything. So so good thing. Good for him man seems to be a very very well liked person in the industry, has you know, really made a name for himself in recent years. So good for Jesse. Very good player as well, very very good player. Yeah, um so congratulations to Jesse Lonus. The one thousand dollars Ladies Championship twelve hundred ninety five entries a big boost over last year. Is one thousand and seventy four. Also a record setter. I believe the record was two thousand and seven, had twelve hundred and eighty or so, you know, give a take a little bit, but this one sets the record. Tammy Abraham wins it all one hundred and ninety two thousand dollars for the victory her firstsp goal bracelet. Super exciting final table. If you missed it, it was live streamed and it is available to watch for free. You can head on over to YouTube check out the poker Goo YouTube channel. It is on there. Remco Rinkima handled the commentary and he was joined by Kaitlin Comeski and Nicky Limo for that and it was a lot of fun. The rails were pretty bananas from start to finish. It seemed to me like Abraham, you know, it got the chip lead and just kind of like kept it and never never gave it up. But hey, that's what it takes in tournaments, you know, as as you know Chris Brewer talked about earlier when I interviewed him, you know, he said, you know, basically I woke up and I felt like her. You know, I played the tournament today and like you just, I couldn't lose. Like, the cards just all worked in my favorite And sometimes that's what it takes. Um. Not that you know, Tammy Abraham didn't play very well also, um, but the cards also do have to break your way, of course. And she is now the largest ever Ladies Event Champion twelve nine five. You just phrase that a little weird that whatever, I get what you know, what I'm trying to say. I'm not trying to talk the biggest ever Ladies Yes, winner of the biggest ever Ladies Event championship, speaking of largest four and all colossus that you like that transition the four hundred dollars Colossus. The official numbers come in fifteen thousand, eight hundred and ninety four entries, so it is still in that eighth spot on the all time largest live poker tournament attendance, uh standing leaderboard whatever you want to call it. Um, we talked about that on the recent episode. So if you want to go back and kind of we list them all, you know, we're not going to go back and do that, but um, it's eighth. The Colossus is on that list, like you know, eight times, eight, nine times, whatever it is. Well, this is the enemy eight, the Colossus. It's a night times how the eight classes, this is the eighth one. Okay, this is I mean, it's crazy how big this tournament is every single year. It's just wild. I think it's it's one of my favorite to try and play every single year. It's one of my favorites to watch. I think it's like it's just a can't miss events. You know, if this is kind of in your wheelhouse, I understand, Like, you know, some of the bigger buying players are obviously going to skip it. I get that, but like for more, most of us normal folks out there are us normal poker players, Like this event is just absolutely incredible and if you miss it next year, I'm going to punch you in the face. How about that quinning, I'm dumb, were tiring. Um, there's about two twenty five maybe two hundred by now remaining more than five hundred thousand dollars for first place, five hundred and one thousand, one hundred and twenty dollars for this one one eighty five. Look at that. I hope fingers cross our guy Ian Steinman is still in the field two point one millie, Well, he had two point one million round, so I don't know exactly. It seems like a lot of chips, yeah, but they're not like super DP. It gets kind of quick towards the end. But you know, Ian is very well versed in these large field, noelman hold them tournaments, so we'll see if he can get it done for us. He's chasing the top eighty one in terms of our twenty five K fantasy team because that will get us the field bonus. So ian fold to eighty one. Normally it's fold to cash. This is fuld to eighty one. Let's go yeah. Um no, but we're obviously rooting for him the twenty five all big bet and mix, that's what we would have been reciting. That's going on across the room. Looks like they're down to fifty one players. That means they're in the money because fifty seven spots paid three hundred and seventy six entries in that one over one hundred and ninety thousand dollars up top for the winner. Eric Lingern's out there in the field. We just mentioned John Reardon King, John Reardon the Third and Sewn Deep. I see them both still. I see the blue sweatshirt for mister Reardon. I see the sparkly hat for Seawan deeb. Bryce Jockey was over there, um, John Shorman was over there. I think John Turner might be over there as well. Come down a second in chips, there you go. Ryan Reese is standing up think he's playing on his phone. I see chat Eve Sledge going for number three. He's still in um. Jeremy Osmas was still in Shout Out Team, No Gamble, No Future um. So yeah, this is a very very statue. I think Nick wa Genty is also in over there, so yeah, extreme ste Steve's altown and you know what he gets to play in this one? He does pot m Steve Ze came to us, walked up to our desk in the middle of some PGT series that we were having, I can't remember which one, and he started to make the case that we need to bring back pot limit Old. Alex Foxon heard him say this, and Alex Foxon was like, pot limit hold him, get out? What do you talk talking about? God here? And Steve Ze then one of those whole thing about how polman Omahas is greatly incredible game blah blah blah, and Alex Foxon's like, didn't they get rid of that at the World Series of Boger Yes they did. Yes. I actually think the last person to win the ten k pot Limit hold him was Shaan Deep. Can you look that up for me? Stack guy? Oh sure, but that sounds right. I was trying to. I don't know if I don't know if he is the last winner of it, but I think he might be the last winner of it. Twenty fifteen, ten thousand dollars pot limit hold him three hund eighteen thousand dollars. I don't think that was just that was Sean Deep's first goal, Brad. So, I think that's the last time that they had this event. I don't think that they had this event too. That was correct. That was the last year there was any potman hold him on the WSP schedule. That's right, baby, let's go. That's how we do think Sean Deep and now we got him on our team seat. It's just all coming full circle. Yeah, that's how. That's how things are going to work out this year for us. So let's go. But yeah, so they're playing down to I'm guessing the final table. Don't think I make it. They'll have. They played one fewer level yesterday and then today they came back late. Yea, So the schedules a little quirky over there. The players have been, you know, talking about it that you know, Andy on the floor has been like he has to adjust the break clocks, you know, every level basically. But they'll get it done. They'll get it done, and that one's going to produce a pretty good field overall. So I'm looking forward to seeing that one play out. Hopefully we get deep runs out of Shawn deep and John reared him underway. Today. We gotta talk about this, the one thousand dollar Mini Main Event. I didn't get in there. I didn't defend my back to back cashes, unfortunately. As much as I love right up there with the Colosses, for me is the Mini Main Event. I love it. I think it's such a great tournament, and obviously a whole crap ton of people also think it's such a great tournament because last we checked more than fifty three hundred entries, which is actually down from last year if you can believe it, and we had I think we talked about how that's going to set a record or you know, be absolutely massive, you know, could possibly rival getting into the top fifteen of that list of the largest live tournaments. I don't even see it now. It's not even on Bravo. It's finished soever. What somebody won? Yeah, who won? Um, it's literally not on I mean, what's happened? They all just maybe they all just went all in im chump and they said, you know, what the hell with this three chump? You guys all want to take two K and just go home kill? I mean, gosh, so I would. I would definitely agree to that one. I mean, how is it not on Bravo? What? How do these remove it from the tournament? That's not even possible. Maybe that's not possible. Anyway, Here's what happened today. They had a whole crap ton of people coming back for the Colosses, like way too many, yep, and they basically couldn't get all the people in for the mini main event. Is what was happening. You know. I think they're like they've paused registration at one point. Is but I heard like there were some dubis to the officials walking through the lines. Yeah. There was some videos on social media videos and photos of the lines. I mean, it looked like the most insane thing I've ever seen. It was like going from like one casino to the other. Yeah, I mean, like I can't even imagine what that was like. Um, you know, I think a lot of people were in a tricky spot, you know, coming back for the Colossus, but then thinking of Oh, should I register last night? No, I'm still on the Colossus, So I'll obviously play the Colossus, and then what happens there happens there. If I've bust, I'll hop in the mini main event. Well, I don't know how many of those people were able to do that because of how crazy the line was. I don't know how long you want to wait all that sort of stuff. So if they would have had the capacity to put people in, you know, I think they would have blown by this number. But the number last year was five thousand, eight hundred and thirty two. But you know, do to the capacity issues, which is one of those good problem to have types of things, but also like a problem you don't want to run into because you just don't want to run into it. Yeah. Um, but yeah, So I'm assuming this is something that's probably gonna have to be looked at for sure for next year. Just having the classes one day earlier would have made this. We know what they're trying to do, Like you're trying to get the carry over, like without giving people like time off, Like once you give people the kind of a day off, then they have an out to go home. Yeah, Like we think about that all the time when we're doing the PDT series, Like, you can't get these people in out, you have to lock them in, lock them in. He's like, you know what, walk right past the registration desk. Can be like, no, there's another tournament, let's go. You don't want it out. Yeah, you don't want to give them a chance. You don't want to give him a chance to leave. So obviously that's what they try to do. But if these fields continue to grow as they are you over a year, then yes, they're gonna need to adjust the structure schedule because it's just there's just too many people, I mean, or they have to get another venue. I mean, it's just like if there's nothing nothing else, I don't know if there's any of these three casinos, I mean there's three Casina Cromwell Cromwell Paris. They need to build a bridge, like overwhelm the ground conveyor belt. I always thought that they were going to go to the newly built Caesar's Convention Center. That would yeah, that would make sense because I think that I think that that's massive, like absolutely massive, um over by the link by the high roller thing. Yeah, that doesn't finish it, though, well, I don't know. I thought it was, Oh, but I don't know if I don't know, but I don't know if that's well, it would be a perfect spot for the entire world series, but I just don't know if it's like zoned for gaming, if you know that sort of thing. It's more of a convention space. Did they do it for gaming? So is this this is a convention but this is this is like directly inside a casino, got it? So I don't know, I don't know, I don't know all that stuff. Um that said, you know they're packing this place. Signs for a discman events just continue to go higher, Like I mean, it's just like at this point, I'm just I'm not going to be surprised at any number when it comes. Yeah, the only number I will be absolutely surprised with this sub nine thousand. That's the only number. I'll be prizes, no, my no, sublimer, sub nine thousand, I'll be surprised. We could just be blowing this up too much. Yeah, I understand, but I'm like, I've been in the camp of like ninety four hundred pretty much the whole time. There's people out there that are saying eleven thousand would and I think those people are insane. Okay. I mean if if that happens, great, then you guys can call me insane. Fine, But you know, I just think at this point, only to get over last year's number, they need what three hundred and fifty more people. Yeah, I think that's a lock. I mean, you had to have like three hundred and fifty more people from this World Series of Poker cash for ten care more that are now willing to parlay that event into whatever alone, into the main event alone. Like, I think that alone is enough. Like with all the field, the numbers that we've seen from you know, the Millionaire Maker, the Colossus, the Gladiators, the Mystery Millions, like all that sort of stuff, there has to be three hundred plus people that didn't play them an event last year that cash for ten k and will parlay that in. Yeah, because there's thousands and thousands of people that are just coming out for these events and it just has to be that's my take on that. Yeah, the ten thousand dollars pot limit Omaha High Low kicking off today two hundred and twenty two entries, is what the Bravo clock said. Because that one is actually on Bravo regios still open though till what started. They too, So that'll probably be another one of those. You know, they're gonna get thirty people showing up for day two. I'm guessing Phil Hommy's one of them. He probably did the whole thing he did last night, went to the doel Brunson Celebration of Life today and it's probably still sleeping. Yeah okay, and then he'll show up tomorrow. He'll talk about how he's gonna play his heart out. Plo eight is probably one of his best games, according to him, and yeah, he'll go for number eighteen. He's he's gonna need a new hat. You think he's already got the new hat. He already got the eighteens. Remember, Oh my gosh, of course he did. That's how good he is. That's how sees the future. He just has them all right, like he just happened. He's got, he's got, he's got up to twenty four. Yeah, that's gonna happen in like twenty twenty five. So yeah, why not. I just can'tet that discount that group the bulk or a discount. I mean, look at this this. So they start they have all these mega satellites for Yeah, they have the twenty one twenty one hundred and seventy five dollars mega satellite for the event one hundred and seventy j I mean everything with the eleven hundred eliot I don't see it on here. Maybe already thing it's done. They had a five hundred and eighty had three hundred ninety four paying nineteen or twenty spots, jeez. The other one, the twenty one hundred, was paying I think seven spotsors so something I don't know. I don't know. They had the twenty five seats scrambled today. I played that I busted. Um still getting to light. I mean, I have no idea when I busted they were giving away thirty seats geez, So they're over that guarantee of twenty five seats. So yeah, it's just it's gangbusters everywhere. It's great World Series of Pokers banging. You love it, you absolutely loved to see it. Of course. Tomorrow, Monday, July three, the World Series of Poker Main Event twenty twenty three edition kicks off twelve pm. What is our plan? We are streaming from the start of Level three to the end of the night, we're gonna be on a little bit of delay so we can speed through that dinner break. Ye. That table will be on the horseshoe table where all the YouTube streams have been this world series so far. I'm gonna go pick a good table for all you people at home to enjoy for a few hours. Yep. I mean so, I guess let's just get into a little bit about how this is going to work schedule wise. Peel back the curtain a little bit, a little transparency some more here. First four days are going to be on the poker Go YouTube channel. Yeah, I think you also be able to watch them on poker Go itself. It'll just all be in front of the paywall. Now. The reason for that is if we didn't for that and get that done internally in the company, there would be no coverage of the day once because they have to set up the set for the main events. Like, all the stuff that you normally see is basically gone. They've already taken the cameras away that we use all summer. The jib is gone, like stuff is gone. They moved the table that was on the horseshoe over to the secondary table area, like, stuff is gone. The crew that comes in, the beefed up crew for the CBS stuff is coming in. The jib is going to be ten times the size. They got to bring in all these beefed up cameras. You know, everything gets everything gets put on steroids. Okay, they're building the trucks out back. They got additional trailers, bathrooms, tens, all this sort of stuff. Like it's it's getting pretty crazy. Okay. They have to set all that up over these next four to five days. So because of that, you can't stream there. That said, we do have the horseshoe set up, the horseshoee your table set up, so we will be operating one table from the Horseshoe feature table on each of the day ones. We're gonna have some coverage for levels three, four, and five. So the final three levels of each day, we're gonna the tournament's gonna start. We're gonna let it run. We're gonna see how the action, let people filter in, you know, try and pick a nice table, put it up there and go from there. So you will get some coverage. And then starting on day two, it's gonna be split coverage for a couple of days. You know, we're gonna do the early levels on the poker Go YouTube channel, and then we're gonna transition to the last three levels on poker go dot com. That's gonna happen for the day two's three, and some of day four because it will just be level one. We'll be on the poker Go YouTube channel. Then from there on out Day five onwards, it's all on poker Go, including the two day final table. July sixteenth and July seventeenth, those are the days for the final table. So that's gonna be the sched for what we're doing here for the US main Event coverage in twenty twenty three. It's gonna be a lot of fun. Yeah, I can't wait either. I'm gonna hop in there on day one. CE do my best. Please there, try and be the next champion. I'm gonna I'm gonna try and make you some money. Be the next Jerry Yang, Be the next Jerry please. Just just I don't want to think there's set every like ninth hand. Just not think likes, just aces. There's just three all ends in front of me. Call like easy stuff, Make it easy. Yeah, this doesn't need to be hard. It doesn't need to be hard, like it's just Sun run the thing. Let's go, you know, come on, baby, let's go. Tim and I will be doing daily podcasts. I hope Tim's ready. Are you ready for the main event? You gotta taste of the main event podcast stuff last year, but not fully because no, I did every day with you during the main event. But by then, I know what I'm saying, like we gotta be in there on the floor on the bubble, like we gotta be I'm interviewing people all the time, like we gotta, we gotta be in there. I'm ready except for day one C because I'm gonna stay around for that one. We're gonna get up early for the soccer tournament. So the soccer Tournel World Cup of Vegas. Yeah, yeah, go you speaking of Remco there he is right there, all right, that's gonna do it for us. I have something, oh special coffee quiz. He's okay, God, I want to predict Day one A numbers closest to the pin Owes the other a coffee. I bought your coffee today that I owed you. You just want to win this back? Well, yeah, but we're gonna do it for all the day ones. I'll go first, what was the number last year? I'm gonna give you all the data, thank you, because I know you already looked this, so you can choose my number for Day one A. Where am I looking? This first column right here? This is all the recent main event numbers. They only had eight ninety six last year. I'm going with nine twenty five for Day one A closest the being wins coffee twenty six. That means I have everything. I'm nine twenty five. I'm well aware that. Yeah, Remco, you're back in nine twenty four. Wow, you just got would you do that? We got aft up? Man, he's out, he doesn't count, he's all. Okay, So you have nine twenty five and nine twenty six, well higher and lower? Yeah, yeah, okay, that works. I like it. We'll do it every day. We don't need to do all of them now, yeah, we'll do each of the days each other the day when we're not We're not gonna pick them all right now, no, no, no, yeah, correct, yeah, yeah, yeah, it's fine. We're gonna see how it goes. Remco wants to ask a question, live question. Okay, remember back in oh nine when Patrick Antonius and a bunch of people got shut out of the main event because they didn't register in time. My question is, how many people are gonna get shut out of the main event this year? None? Zero. I think they're gonna do their absolute damnedest to get everyone in. I think it like it might be like a It might be like last year when they were like, if you're playing Day one, D might want to switch type of thing because like it's gonna be bananas. Yeah, they're not looking anyone out. So are they gonna tell people on day one D like, sorry, you're gonna have to register on day two, there's no space for you. I mean that is actually, yes, that could happen. I mean that falls under the category of good problem to have. I mean, because that means the main event is just bananas. I'd tell people every year play Day one C. I think they add a flat before they lock anyone out. Yeah, they're not gonna lock I know they can't, but I don't think the locking anyone out. They're gonna hit the biggest number ever. What's your guest for a number? This is the main event. What's your guests for a number? Room Coo for total. Yeah, total, My total is ten thousand, two hundred and twenty. He's over ten thousand. Need to raise my number. I need to raise my number. I was out of a nine and then I'm slowly moving up a little by a little. I'm at like ninety three right now. Yeah, I'm at like yeah, he came out caught. I like it. I mean, I got people telling me eleven thousand is no chance of how all? All I want to do is to be able to post a dragon ball Z meme of it's over nine thousand, Okay, I like it. That would be like the first sort of step and then I think that's for sure. The thing above that is like profit. Yeah, I think that's for sure happening over nine thousand. You got any more surprises for me? No, I'm good? Okay, all right. Well, my name is Donny Peters. His name is Tim Duckworth, and we also had a guest appearance. What's up. Did you tell people to watch the main event tomorrow on YouTube? Yeah, we talked all about we got the night shift, We got all about the schedule. Donny Peters three day, four day ones all on YouTube only. Did you did you tell people that Jeff Platt is our sideline reporter every day. Oh really every day. Oh baby, you're gonna go into the field of Jeff Platts. Now I'm pumped. We're gonna get a report if someone's barking in the tournament, or Jeff Platt is gonna find them, well, we don't know. We got to see who it is. Okay. My dream feature table is a very known pro, a lesser known pro, a woman, a crazy guy from Japan, and so and and a random him Hadukan Shimizu Shimizu. Yeah, oh really yeah, he was rounding the Japanese. I'll get to work on that impossible list on day one night, just walk out there in hand, pick people one person from gonna break it. Sir you, sir you you gotta come with me, sir you you gotta kill with me. Miss Yeah, you come with me too, Like yeah, do you speak? Where are you from? Brazil? You're in turn all right, all right, that's gonna do it for us. We'll talk to you guys later. We're out place.
