It's done. Hello everyone, welcome back to another edition of the Poker Go Podcast. I have exactly no idea what the heck this podcast is going to be about. This is Tim's idea. He's laughing over there. I come in today. He starts telling me about this idea. It's Father's Day. He's interviewing all these people who are dad's. He didn't interview with me because he's a real ass hat. And yeah, I don't know, so please explain to the people exactly what we're doing here. I want to preface this by saying, I didn't think you were coming in today. You had a light stream lost I did. We didn't get done until three a m. Or something like that. It was Father's Day. I thought you were going to spend time at harm with the missus, the little baby, and then he said, no, I'm on my way in about five o'clock. So I was gonna do this solo. I was going to freak out. But my plan was it's Father's Day. There's a lot of dad's here at the World Series of Poker, and I thought, let's just talk to the dads. I'm not going to ask him about you know, how to play aces? And all that kind of rubbish. We're gonna talk to him about family, you know, being a dad, being a husband, all that kind of stuff. So I just went round the room. I went to the PPC, I went to through the monster stack, I went through some of our staff members even and just you know, asked him a few different questions about being a father, fatherhood, how they're live lives when they're playing poker and and trying to be a father. You know, mingle, who did you talk to? Who talked to? You know, our Lord and Savior carry cats, our Lord and Savior. I'm gonna make this stick. I'm really going to try, really have to make this stick. Not the Lord and say I like the Lord and Savior. I'm not religious, so no like doing Lord and Savior. Popular President Marius Condani. You know he's also well actually both him and carry have grandchildren. Um, some of you might not know that about Kerry. Actually he has five grandchildren. Would you guess that it's a lot? Um? No, I mean it's a lot. I knew he had some grandchildren. I didn't think it was five. Yeah. Talk to Brent Hanks, he has three kids of his own. I mean, Brent could be a grandpa. Yeah, I'm concerned. I talked to Tony Burns, Okay has two daughters being in the industry, So that's basically, you know three people that were industry obviously carries a bit of a businessman slash poker player. Uh. I talked to Jack Appel from WSP. He's actually the first interview I did today. Um, and then a plethora. I know you love that word of bracelet witness Sean Deep, Josh, you said preface earlier, then you said plethora. I'm the earlier. You're sending to me quotes from people that have the word ton spelled t o nny. You've been in America more than a lot of America. I guess still some Australian words anyway, Sean Deep, Josh r A John Manette, Nick Schulman, Jeremy Osmus, and I talked to Brian the Icon Macon A little twist to that interview. You'll hear that, and yeah, that's how I kind of spoke to. So are we just like throwing into these interviews. Let's introduce it. We're gonna say, say I want to say something about some people, and we'll throw the interview be a quick episode because we're gonna do a double We're gonna come back a little later and bang another one out. I just want just quickly to let people know what's happening this summer is that we brought our good friend podcast producer Rich Ryan aboard so that we can record here in Vegas. We figure it's going to be late at night because that's what we've been doing in past years. And then normally it would be me, you know, editing them, putting them up on the feed. I kind of know, like the absolute bare bones editing. You know. I can put the introm music in, I can put the outrem music in. I can do some cuts here and there, you know whatever, nothing too snazzy. Rich is much better. He makes us sound much better. He can do some magic, all that sort of stuff. It's just past midnight here in Vegas. He's asleep. We just dumped the files in a drive. He gets up in the morning, he puts them up on the website while her in the feed while we're sleeping. Okay, I can't wait till he wakes up and see the nonsense that you have when the heat transitions between each interview. I want the best wsp slash poker goo related sound effects that he can come up with. I mean it has to be like the twang twang. I want the twang and he can use multiple versions of the twang or the chip shuffles whatever. But and then we're gonna finish with a little family part, you and me. I hope you have something I don't. It's been Father's that you gotta have something. I don't have anything. I don't know anything. Man. First up, her president Maries Candani. I talked to him about, you know, being a parent and a grandfather, both as a professional poker player and you know in the industry working with us and behind the scenes, you know, production and you know. I him. I also asked him give give us a piece of advice. I'm being a being a parent. First of all, Happy Father's Day to you, Honda. With you two, as someone that's been in this industry for a long time, where the busiest time of the year is the summer when your kids and grandkids are off, how do you balance being a father a grandfather with you know, your kids and grandkids. I send them away, I sent them know I it's you know, I try to spend time with them in the mornings. I mean, this is usually like more of an afternoon thing. So it makes some days be really long. You know, you're here until one or two am, and then kids expecting to have breakfast with you at eight. You know, you're just just going to do it. So you'll have a few really long days. But it's worth it. It's not you know, a lot of times they also take a vacation. They're not even here, you know, the biggest gets really hot. They move on going, you know, to Oregon. They have a place there they go to. But when they're here, I spend time with them. I see them every other day, but all in the mornings, all like a couple of hours. Whether you're a poker player or you know, you're work on the production side throughout the year, do you find you know the time to you know, to balance that work balance those kids, Like, did I understand it? Hey, there's times where I'm kind of going to be gone or what I'm actually not doing a very good job. I mean when I was just playing poker, when it was just purely playing poker for a living, it was a little bit easier because I could I could basically set my own time at any time. It didn't matter, you know, it could be in the middle of the busiest time or and usually when I picked the time, it was not weekends, so we could like go do things, not standing lines. If you're going to Disney, Man, it would have been like in the middle of the week and things like that because I could do it. But now it's a little different, and I can't say that I have a formula for it. I don't think I'm doing a very good job with it. But I still try my hardest to spend time with grand kids for sure, at least twice a week at least, whether we're playing three holes of golf or going to dinner or something like that. So you'll find fine, you're to give one piece of advice, so or the poker playing fathers out there, what would it be, Well, your kids most likely are never going to understand exactly what this is that you do for a living, and very good chance they're not going to be doing what you do for a living. So it's not you know, it's I don't know if it is. The best advice I can give them is tell the kids, explain to them, this is not gambling. Make sure they understand that there's a big difference between poker and gambling, and explain to them why there is nothing wrong with you teaching your kids how to play the game, because the least thing that can come out of it is good for their math. They will understand the mathematic part of it, the probability part of it, and all that, even if they don't understand the psychological part of it, which is fine. Yeah, a lot of fathers usually, you know, at least when I was coming along in the pro world, they weren't really easy to let their kids see them playing, you know, shuffling money around and all that, and they were afraid the kids will take that interpreted as gambling and apply to places that he's not supposed to. So I've always told my kids what I do. I always told him, you know, how you do it. None of them had any interest to become a poker player whatsoever. So yeah, and my advice is be proud of what you're doing. Explain to them what you're doing, and if they don't, you know, come along. That's fine. I'm sure a lot of people wouldn't mind. I mean, listen, Maury Is I mean, everyone calls him Uncle Morey. He really is Uncle Maury. You know, he just is. You know, he's always like kind of taking care of people, looking out for people, all that sort of stuff. So just an all around great human being, great guy. I'm assuming great father, great grandfather as well. I know he you know, he's invited my family over at times. I'm sure he's invited everyone in the company over at times. I've yet to take him up on it, but yeah, he has invited us over at times. You know. I think it was last year, was like, what are you doing for Thanksgiving? If you're not gonna go like back east to visit your family, why don't you just come over at our house? You know, like all that, all that sort of stuff. I mean, that's just the type of guy that he is. Also his wife Cathy, you know, she's always as cookies in the business, baking cookies. But I think she like went away for like a week. He told us that she's like going away somewhere for a week. Yeah, and we were like, well, Maury, what about the cookie exactly we need this. She's a baker at least a week's worth. Put him in the freezer and make this happen. Because we just can't go without the cookies, the rice, Chrissie choas and all of that sort of stuff. Um, all right, next up, who you got? We got Carrie Katz, businessman ka player runner Brice to a potential brace that this year. You know, he's you know, similar to more professional life, you know, in his industry, transitioning to poka more he's kind of the opposite away, um, busy, busy man. And obviously we have six kids, you know, four or five grandchildren I think, And yeah, I just wanted to kind of get how he approaches fatherhood as a successful businessman, and you know, you can kind of say a professional poker play now these days, how do you balance you know, work poker and as you said, six kids and potentially many more grandkids. Well, fortunately, one hundred and sixty eight hours in a week, so every every hour it is pretty much accounted for. Whether it's spending time with a family. I'm not spending time with a family. I'm working, or I'm training, or I'm playing poker. So it's obviously less time with the family when I'm playing poker, especially if I'm doing it well. When business was your focus, so you know, Hite a while ago. How involved were you know, your children in you know, decisions, were you cluing them into things or deals anything? It wasn't mainly just you know, separating family and business. Um, well, when I when I started my student loan company, I was twenty nine years old, so and I had at that point we had our fourth kid, our fourth child, and but you know, I'd worked every night till like seven or eight o'clock. So my wife did all the all the heavy lifting. I mean that was available on the weekends and stuff. But yeah, work was work with I didn't play any pover then. It was just all work. So nowadays, you know, probably a little bit less business, more polka. How do you like, do you set aside time just to see the kids, see the grand kids or do you just you know, have to kind of squeeze in a round your schedule. It's always time. Like because two of the two of the grands two of my grandkids live in the same building I live in, so I see them every day. And then the other three are in California, and Jackie and I go out there about every two months ago so two months or so, and we take them to Disney Lands. So there's always there's always enough time. You can always make the time. You just gotta be efficient. As you mentioned, six kids, what advice would you give to, you know, whether it's a fellow businessman or a fellow poker player. Um on, you know, six kids, multiple kids, like raising raising a family. Best advice is you got to like make sure your financial houses in order, or it's I couldn't even imagine the stress levels. I mean, we were very lucky that, you know, the business was successful and I was able to make a lot of money, and we were able to have additional support and housekeepers and things like that. So to me, try to make sure your financial order, your financial house is an order before you start having children. Is that something you've kind of spent extra time, you know, educating your children about like the importents of finances and you know, patfolios, balanced portfolios, everything like that. All um you know, and some of my kids are financially responsible and others aren't. But you know, I do my best to try to, you know, guide him in that direction. You call him a businessman, I feel like he's these days, is he's more of a poker player than a businessman. Yeah, I mean I think He's always going to have the businessman monica. You all my dad first poker players, second businessman. Third is kind of how I rank him, now, okay, yeah that makes sense. I mean that's just how I put it. Um, Brent Hanks, Brent Hanks grabbed him while you know, break from commentary on the two. No, he knew, he knew. I see him and he was coming. I said, I'll get you next break. He has no problems, you know, Brent's Brent's got three young boys at home. That just sounds like madness being being a part of three young boys. I have two younger brothers. I mean, it just sounds like insanity. So yeah, he's God bless his wife clearing up with that one hundred percent. You know, he's pretty much our age and you know, dabbled as a professional poker player. Now he's obviously director of programming and poker go. Um. You know, times like this it's hard to see they see your kids when you're at the World Series every day. But you know does his best and obviously has his fantastic wife Liz at home, you know, corraling those crazy kids. Firstly, Happy Father's Day, Thank you, Happy fathers, say to you was thank you. I want to ask you, as a industry experienced, savvy veteran, how it is you know, raising kids and working in this industry where your hours are just sometimes it's completely crazy, really hard. And it's not hard on me. It's harder on it's very hard on my wife, and she's the one that endures it all, goes through the crazy hours and swings, especially at the World Series of Poker. So anyone wives out there, moms that are married into this industry, they know exactly what I'm talking about, and it's yeah, it's very difficult. Your kids are a little on the younger side, But what do they know understand about kind of what you do for living both you know, working for Pago, but also when you're actually playing poke atonomous. Well, my oldest is kind of he's starting to understand poker a little bit, what hands are, what everything means on the screen. My five and two year old really just think I'm like a YouTube star. They don't. They don't really get that we're just you know, we're streaming there from time to time. They hear my voice, they see me, you know, from time to time, and that's kind of where they think I am. They just think I'm a TV YouTube guy. What advice do you have, you know, maybe an aspiring poker player that wants to have a family, What advice can you give them? You know, now that you have three kids and many years being a dad and being in this industry, everything will change, you know, if you're if you're gonna have kids and you're already in poker, or say you're just starting to have kids in your in poker, your life it becomes all about your family and not this game. There's always going to be time for poker down the road. Uh. This is a lot easier for me to say than actually do at times, as my wife would attest to. But perspective and understand that everything is more important than this game when it comes to family. All right, who's next Missus Seminal himself Tony Burns, who's no longer mister Seminal. He's uh, well then you can't call him mister Seminal's known him? Is? You know Missus Seminal to me? And so Tony Burns ran, uh poker, I believe poker operations down at Seminal Hard Rock in Florida. Then then he was he was actually promoted to run all of the poker marketing, which was like a higher position than the than the poker operations stuff. Um. He has now since left to oversee the upstart Moneymaker Tour that is branded, of course after Chris Moneymaker. So Tony Burns is working with Chris Moneymaker on that endeavor right now. And you caught up with him about being a dad. Tony went from many years working as Seminal to now on the money Maker Poker Tour and traveling. How does that affect you know, having two little girls at home and making the decision to lead from Seminal to the Moneymaker. Well, this is my first Father's day away from them, so you know it was a bit emotional this morning, you know, being in a different time zone and waking up to a message from my youngest and in a homemade card from home. Um. You know it's um, this opportunity with Chris is an opportunity to provide for my family in a UM. You know, the Seminals were great for me for the eight years, so UM terrific company left great terms. Still have a lot of love for the brand and all the people back there. Um, but you know this opportunity with Chris, like I said, is just something I looked at, um to get in on the ground floor and provide something even potentially bigger for my family and my daughters. Um. You know they're ten and eight. Um, So this was um, you know, it was a leap of faith. But going to work for for Chris and being able to build something um with Chris is something that I'm really excited about. And you know things are off and running in in a good uh, in a good way. Being part of the pok industry for many years now, so it's a deal. Is let's a full stuff that obviously have kids that travel, What advice would you give to to you know, people that are traveling with kids and stuff like that. I think I'm the one looking for the advice. You know. This is my first job that I've ever had traveling. I think the biggest thing I'm trying to do is just keeping in touch with them. Um. You know, when I was growing up, you know, in a split family, I remember writing letters to my mother, you know, and and having to wait for something to come you know, via the post office, right, and you know, then emails came about and now we live in the world of FaceTime. We have so much technology out there. Just utilizing the technology and keeping in touch. Um. I try to reach out to them first thing in the morning, before I start, and then you know, I try to reach out to them before they go to bed. Obviously the time zones make it a little bit of fun, but um, you know, that's the biggest thing I try to do, is just stay in touch with them every day and and see them and you know, interact as I would if I was there, all right. Next up, who we got the top dog of the WSP. Oh, the scariest man in the industry. Jack scary. Just on people, come on, he's a little scared. I mean maybe if you're William Kasu if he's scared. Yeah, you know. Jack's interesting. He's obviously logging long hours like we are. And he actually, you know, in a way references WSP is kind of being one of these children as well. So that was I've never really kind of thought of it that way from his respective, but he kind of elaborates on that and and the time he gets to spend with his kids at home and yeah, or lack thereof God, lack thereof correct, Yes, as a father work in the World Series where you're here nearly twenty four seven, how do you balance home life and work life. I have a great wife. I mean, it's very understanding that's been with me since I've been doing this, so you know, she kind of understands the uh, the mass chaos that you know happens at the World Series, and you know kind of what it takes to organize this this monster and to kind of keep it going. And you know, look, it's also kind of one of our children. So being Father's Day, it's kind of my baby and something that we're we're all kind of responsible for taking care of, right the same as you would feeding it, bathing it, clothing it, and making sure that nothing happens to it so it doesn't get hurt. So I guess, you know, and long and short, it's it's one of our kids. I tell my wife and kids that, you know, catch me July eighteenth, and I'll be a dad again. Are you the same? Yode chimes squeeze in family time during the World Series, So you know, it's interesting. You know, I have a very you know, dynamic home life, you know, and my kids. I try to see them when I can. They also understand because they've grown up, you know, with me doing this, so they they get it. But they like to see me too, and I like to see them, so you know, it's it's kind of a balance. So during the WSOP, like we're all hanging out for hours and hours and hours, but they definitely see me kind of coming and going from time to time. Alrighty, that was mister jack ffel If he's vice president of the I think is title. Yeah, yeah, I believe so he's very important. Let's I mean, of course he's very important. Yeah. Um. Next up, I see Sean deeb Sean. Yeah, got him in the Break of the fifty KPBC while he was playing the online event. Um, I hope you didn't help him with any hands, you know, it's the whole He would should not listen to me. If if I did, he should ignore whatever I said. I hope he raised the pace nine and you were just losing your mind. That's definitely a fault. Um. But yeah, I talked to Sean because obviously he is all in on the World Series of Poker, you know, playing every day, all hours of the day. And then outside of that, he you know, he could easily be on the tour playing everything, but you know, opos for that dad life, and I think that's an interesting approach for, you know, someone that's probably regarded as one of the best play poker players in the world. Sean, I want to know how you approach fatherhood while trying to be a professional poker player. You know, I just try to instill my kids, you know, this is not gambling. I have an edge. You know. We're trying to kind of hide how much money I win or lose. We tell them a lot of the time they watched me on a stream cash game that it's turnment chips, so they don't see real dollar value. When I see, oh, we want a Pilo term for a million dollars, we tell them, no, it's not that much. Like, you know, we really try to keep them protected from I don't know, getting the wrong idea of my lifestyle and stuff. But yeah, it's it's really tough. Obviously, I stay home a lot of the time for that reason, because you know, you can't be on the road twenty four seven. I'm not twenty years old anymore. So it's it's not easy. But me and my wife do I think do a great job. She carries the torch when I'm in Vegas for these you know, seven weeks, and yeah, it's just crazy here and the when you're sick and this and that, there's so much stuff going on at home and I'm just focused on you know, player of the Year in bracelets and poker. So yeah, to touch on that, you're here every day, you're playing every day, every event nearly, but then outside of that, you don't really play that much. Now is that a pure like family choice. Oh yeah, it's definitely. You know, me and my wife know that if I go to a term and stop or a cash game trip or whatever, I got to be playing a lot of volume and reasonable high stakes to justify being away from my family. Like I have a you know, mental amount in my head where if I don't think I'm gonna make X number of dollars on a trip, I'm just not going to go. So that's why I tend to, you know, grind really hard when I'm somewhere because I'm gonna away from my family, I'm gonna put in as much volume and try to make as much money and get as much eavy as possible. So for me, it's extra motivation because I know when I go home there's very little poker. So when I'm somewhere I can play poker and they're not here, I wake up, I can't wait to go. It makes it so much easier to grind, and it's extra motivation, as if I needed more. So, Yeah, it's been knowing the support behind, you know, knowing when they're watching a stream. It's great And I hope my kids don't get into poker, but I know my youngest is itching already at six years old. If you were to get one piece of advice to fellow players with kids, what would it be. I think, depending on what sleep schedule you're on, I think you and your wife or husband whatever, should consider separate bedrooms. I definitely think my wife's a very light sleeper. I'm a very heavy sleeper, so I think whenever I'm like running online all night or fly in from a trip, I don't want to make her day harder by waking up from middle of the night. So that's been very beneficial for us that sometimes the nights we do it. So yeah, just like recognizing how your schedule interacts with the routine of your family and trying to make it as smooth as possible for your kids and your wife. All right, who's next on your list? Sir Lucos. Shawan's friend, Josh Area, another Price of winner from this year, grabbed him as he actually sat down in the PPC early today. I think Josh's kids are a little bit olda I recall. But he's also similar to Sean where he's kind of pulling on you know, the World Series or you know, picking a series here and there, and outside of that, he's he's kind of a dad and just seeing how you know, that affects how he raises the children and how his you know, choice of lifestyle. Being a professional poker player kind of you know, works in that regard. How do you balance playing poker and being a father. Oh, I'm not good at it because I'm either just a father or just poker. I don't play. The only time I play pokers during the World Series and then that PLO series. But I'm not doing a good job. My kids are at home and I'm here working. But the rest of the year, I'm there's whenever they need me, So hopefully they they're okay with me being gone for a month out of the year to be with them for eleven months. Do they understand like what you're doing here and then you know kind of what you do as your day jogging away. Yeah, they totally get it. They're huge fans. Like they they're so happy when I do good and they check on me, and yeah, they get it. They know it's about who you got next. I got happy John happy. Well, like we said on the recent podcast, pokers is trying to calm family man John. I think I like family man John. I know. I mean it fits for what we're doing right now. Yeah, it does it. But he's very fitting. He's angry John. He will always be angry John. And he looked very much like angry John when we went over there to the PPC today. So well, yeah I spoke to John. Was he angry? He was not angry. And you know he's obviously full time poker player. You know his wife Diana, who used to work with us at home with the kids, and he's very much he can tell that he's you know, very family orientated. Um in a way, just trying to provide for the kiddos. John. I just want to know, you know, as a professional poker player, how do you balance life playing Bracelet Advance and playing cash games and then two kids at time and a wife. I think I've done a pretty good job. Like nonspe time because I'm able to pokers is pretty flexible if you want it to be. And I'm lucky. I'm only work in a couple days a week now, so I could spend a ton of time with the kids. I don't be a dad and a husband, so I enjoy that. I think that's cool. It's super hard, though, because like you just hear all day every day, you know, and so any bits and pieces of time and that you get, I try to enjoy with the family. So I got to spend a few hours with him this morning with dynamic kids and it was great. So like just trying to do what I can. All right, next up, who are we going? With only a few left? I think a couple of more left. I'm putting Brian Mike on here. Now, Okay, if you've been listening and you haven't got bored of my thriller dance myself. In my interviews, I basically asked, you know, how do you balance life as a poker player and parenthood? Now, Brian, see even a poker player anya the thing, Brian, I don't really think it is a full time poker player. But so I wanted to go different route with him, and I went down the financial route. You know, we heard like Carrie touch on a little bit about finance, and Brian's obviously big crypto guy, and I wanted to know, I think his daughter is, you know, ten or twelve or something, how he approaches that topic as a dad, you know, educating his daughter on money, educating his daughter on you know, crypto, another way to invest and you know, set herself up and themselves up for life. Um. And also like what do they how like openly and freely do they actually talk about money because I don't think you know, that's often discussed in a world like this, where you know, money is such a big thing. Um. So I wanted to get his take on that more than just balancing poker and parenthood. Brian. Here, we're on the bubble right now, and I've been asking a lot of fathers, you know, how they balance work, life, poker and kids. But you know, you don't play that much anymore. So I want to actually ask you more about the finance side of being a father, and in particular, crypto and I want to know, you know, obviously you have, you know, a daughter, and how how much do you educate her about crypto and finance and stuff like that. Yeah, it's a great question. Really, thank you for asking it. Um. I talk very freely about finance and like what thinks how much things are with my ten year old daughter, and we talk about from the time she was very young, about there's this much percent chance that this would happen, and just sort of how I think about, you know the world. And we're looking for a house in Antigua right now, placed a couple of bids. She asked how much they are. I just tell her, And I think it's really good for a kid just to have an honest, you know, conversation, honest and open conversation about finances. It's like there's it's on some rich dad, poor dad stuff to have your daughter have a really good grant upon what is out there. We talk about bitcoin a lot, we talk about other she had some We gave her tokens at one point on one of the other chains on the bitcoin cash chain. We gave her tokens Mike on family tokens, and she had to have a wallet and she kept her seat in a secret place. And so I think it's really important to educate the young about crypto. I think it's the future. A lot of people know that that have seen any m fee. They know I'm a big crypto proponent, and so I think, of course I would teach my kid everything I know about it and prepare her for the future. Do you and you and your pant openly discuss, you know, how much you have of something or do you think that's not really the time and place right now? Yeah, so our kids ten, and we don't tell her like you know, and also a lot of our you know, we have a lot of frog pictures is a reasonable size you know, line item there. So so a lot of some of the art that we have is very liquid, so it's difficult to value anyway, and you know, it swings rapidly. And then uh do we We don't really tell the daughter the exact amount of total crypto assets, nothing like that. But she has some general questions and like I think that we answer them as we decide for her age appropriateness and like how much things cost. I think it is much more important than like how much family KNT it has and just like this business like McDonald's cost one point five million for the franchise in some areas, Like little things like that, I think are more portant than my total net of a family. If we go forward, were looking maybe you know, eight years, ten years time, when your daughters older, she's off a college or doing whatever she wants. Do you think we can see you back here playing you know, not just the World Series, but you know, potentially around the world. Yeah, I mean, you know, I like Vegas, I like playing poker. I've been been in Europe a little bit more recently, and uh, I think I think I'll always just kind of I like poker, you know. I mean, but I just, you know, sort of stopped for a couple of years building some crypto stuff out in Nantigua and Barbuda, and I can see myself I'll probably dip in and play tournaments, you know, my whole life, I think. But I really I'm addicted. I'm a fanboy. I like it welcome. Some might say you are a little bit of a crazy kid when you were younger, When you're growing up in the twenties, what kind of advice would you give fellow poker players crypto trade as however you want to put it, you know, if they're starting their own family. You know, it's actually how I talk to my daughter about it too, But I would give the same advice where like you think of things as percentage of net. It's like maybe like you're not thinking like the like how much the family has everything, but you just think, Okay, a reasonable saving portfolio might be or very aggressive portfolio might be something like half SMP five hundred and a half bitcoin or maybe half bitcoin, maybe a portfolio bitcoin ethan, you know, maybe a wee bit of salon or something else that you would really like. And so I think speaking of it like that and telling the young to think of it as think of all of your investments, all of like your poker bankrolls and everything like that, as percentage of net, percentage of your network, and then decide for yourself, like take a good hard look. Am I overweight one thing or another? Do I have too much bitcoin? Do I have too much USD cash, too much stocks, too much on a poker site, too much on a Shenanigan's app poker site? Is that eighty percent of my net? Does that need to be on a poker site. I know at points in my past when I was like younger and a little crazier, that was a reality. And that's obviously now when you look at that, you're like, wow, that's that is suicide. Basically, Well, happy Father's Dina. You're on the bubble here. You got a little bit of chips, So good luck and I hope you can run this one up. That is a great way to say it. That is very nice, and that is a very nice way to say it. Thank you very much. It's a pleasure to talk to all Right. That was mister Mike on good stuff there. You know, it's good to hear that side of things, that that take on things. After I spoke to him, Yeah, the bubble burst in the eight hundred deep stack and he was in the money, so I mean, he's just he's got a cash. Mike kind is just made of money, okay these days Okay, Um, next, we've got Nick Schulman grabbed him during the very end of the break in the PPC. And you know, just whether it's playing high roller poker tournaments, playing high stakes cash games, you know, doing commentary for us, there is there's a lot of stuff going on in his life work wise, but also you know, young daughter at home, and how does he kind of, you know, like all these guys approach that balance of life life and being a poker player and being a parent. Nick, I want to know how you balance you know, playing high roller tournaments, playing cash games, golf and being a father and just that work life family balance. I just do you know, I just uh, I really don't know how to answer that question. It's a great question. But you know, I mean, outside of those things you just mentioned, I'm pretty much just home, you know, man, I wish I had a better answer. I'm honestly do you in you know, nowadays being a father, do you kind of is your schedule you know, completely dictated by you know, your daughter and how you know, what she has on school, et cetera. Stuff like that for the most part, outside of something like the series or you know, designated tournaments. But that's definitely why I've kind of ended up as pretty much just a tournament player now for a few years, to keep that schedule with the family and just be solid. I love to take her to school, you know, all the all the kind of classics like that dinner, you know, a lot of other poker players in this event right now, with children, what's your one piece of advice you could give to a poker player that's, you know, on the verge of signing a family, try your very best to you know, have a as much of a separation as you can and kind of a cliches like that, and don't put any bad runs on your kids, you know, all right, Last, but certainly not least here mister Jeremy Osmas. And the reason I saved him for the last because he tweeted out something this morning, a little letter from his daughter, and I actually want to read it real quick. I thought this was a fake letter. Well, we're going to get to that interview bit. Basically, happy Father's Day. I love you so much. You're the best that I've ever had and the only, no, seriously, you're the best that I could ever wish for. You were kind, loving, helpful, handsome, strong, you big muscle, was smart, hard working, very cool, and you're very caring. Now, this is the bit I really wanted to talk about, except four when you strangled me above the toilet like Darth Vader when I was five. But other than that, you are I think it's as awesome as dad in the world. And that's from his daughter. And I asked him a couple of questions and then we lead on and he kind of explains that letter, and you know, is it really truthful or is it a little fabrication from his daughter? Persually happy father say to a fellow dad, I want to know how you approach fatherhood while trying to be a professional poker player. Um, schedules help, you know, not playing through the night, and then you just have to, you know, make some sacrifices to your poker career for your family, you know, and be around for the sporting events and all the school plays and things like that. So just a balancing act. I've been able to do it pretty well over the years. So I've been fortunate there having two young young kids. Do they kind of understand what you're doing and also like kind of amounts of money you're playing for? Yeah, yeah, they because they watch the streams. Sometimes they don't really fully get poker, but they know that i'man you know, a poker player and play the big sakes and them on TV and all that stuff, and they think it's cool talk about sacrifices and like obviously there's plenty of places to play poking nowadays, but how much of does you know your family have any influencing deciding to go, say the seminole or a trying or something like yeah. Sure. So I don't go overseas a lot because of because of the family. I try not to be gone for over two weeks at a time, and I only do that like three or four times, three times a year, maybe something like that. So I went out of the country once last year, I mean, not counting Bahamas. So I usually just go to there's so much in Vegas now, I pick that and then go to Florida. Usually. Final question here, I think everyone's dying to know this, but did you really choke your son over the toilet like Darth Vader? Or was he just messing with you? No? That's my daughters. She has some weird stories from her childhood that I don't know where she gets them, and I tell her, like the memory is a weird thing, like you think you remember things, it's not. She has another one that I gave her a knife on the a butcher knife on the counter when she was like three years old, and then I just left the room and said to see you later, she swears the app and she was like two or three am. It's just it's these stories are hilarious, they're funny to hear in person. Actually good. I guess my question to you coming out of that endview is are you gonna be calling child services? Nah? Okay, but I believe him. I believe that he that the daughter is lying and that Jeremy did not darth vader her over the toilet. Good. There was there was a post in I think it was our community Facebook group about I don't know, somebody had a cell phone video they were driving down the street and there was a girl or a young girl, like a kid, riding a bike. She had an umbrella on because it was raining the other day. Um, and I think she was like kind of started in the street and then she got up on the sidewalk or whatever. But she was super young. I mean, she was probably like five to eight years old, so I don't even know. Um. But anyway, this person posted the video and was like, you know, your kids shouldn't be out here like this and this whole thing and yeada, yeah, yeahda, and it just turned into this whole thing. I was doing way worse ship than just riding a bike down the road in the rain when I was like five years old. So I don't know, I just I generally think, you know, everyone is just pretty soft these days. Mind you. This guy is driving while filming, which is illegal. Okay, pal, Yeah, let's I mean, the whole thing is just come on. Do you ever get into like these next door groups or these like Facebook community groups. I mean it is just absolute hell. Yeah, absolute hell. We have a new one for the community I moved into, and it's it's it's very dormant, you know, not everyone just yeah, just the Karen's gotta get set up. They gotta set up their computers and then it's got to fire stuff off. Yeah, that's how they are. I kind of enjoy the train wreak sometimes, but um, all right, so what else are we doing on this podcast? I promise the people the listeners, Oh yeah, we would have a family part if I have one. I'm hoping you have one. I don't have one. I'm ready to go go ahead. Is my son's seventh birthday this week, and we had his feeling. His son was like twelve. I don't even know why. That's my daughter, My daughter's fourteen but seven, and we went to one of those like trampoline parks called Explode. I think it's called Explode. He had a bunch of kids. He not the best name, but I was very like, I wouldn't want to send my kids somewhere where he could possibly explode, you know, I mean just that just it's definitely got an X because he said, let's go, We're going to the big x X explode zone. Yeah, that's anyway We're going to explodes. And I was just the first thing I was thinking was I hope I don't explode zone my acl jumping on trampolines, to be honest, because I'm old, and that would be not you're pretty safe jumping on trampolines. But yeah, he had four friends. I was chasing his friends around, were playing dodge ball. It was me unto four seven year old crazy kid. I hope you punished the hello. I hit them in the head multiplied, so you have to, like, you have to give give some back, So I no, you don't. I got him. I got each of them once in the head. I got him in the chest. I knocked Caleb to the ground, pushed some of them over and then I let them all get me. I like fell to the ground. They were just slamming with balls. But I just want to say I was We were jumping for like only forty minutes before like the cake and the pizza came and stuff. I felt like I just ran like twelve months. I was dressing sweat, I was puffing and puffing. I was exhausted, and I was thinking I was there with um, you know, one of our friends, Ben Ludlow, he was, you know, along for the for the jump of fun, and we were like for the jump of thn that explodes zone. I wish we had this when we were kids. I would have been there of my life. I mean, yeah, we had one kind of close to us when I was like in high school, but I never never went. I think I went once to like pick up my brother, but that was it. Yeah, it was fun. But I had a lot of fun and stead of him, Well that's good. That's all that matters. Yeah, the kids having fun. I don't. I don't have anything anything good for a Father's Day. Any presents this morning. Nothing. No. I got a card and like a little drawing thing, which is great. And that's the end of that movie. I'm just hell no, I made my wife went to work and I watched the kid on three hours asleep, which was fucking torture. What do you want me to say? Well, happy Father's Day to you. Yeah, that's fucking's great. It's just like any other day in my life. Um. So yeah, it's funny. My wife is always like, what do you want for a Father's Day? What do you want for your birthday? I don't want anything. It's just another day to just move on and keep it, keep it trucking. Yeah, we don't need nothing. I wanted two donnuts on a coffee. That's what I got, and that's pretty happy with that. So there you go. Yeah, um, all right, I don't think we have anything else to talk about on this episode of the Poker Girl podcast. That really was absolutely nothing about poker. That said, we did talk to a lot of poker people, yeah, about being dads to celebrate Father's Day. So that was a cool thing. Not a big deal, but it was fun to listen to all the stuff that those guys had to say fun to kind of like you know, jointly. It's it's kind of weird, how like now all these guys you you know, you came up covering and you know, you know, and you build you know, somewhat relationships with over the years just because you see everyone blah blah blah. And now the conversations are now that we're all dads. Oh as your kids doing this? Is that like that's what it's about, you know. So and I guess we should give a shout out to Jason Coombs.
