Well, where does that money go? You are paying for the taj mahal and your friends and your neighbors, 88 00:06:43.160 --> 00:06:46.519 and me, I'm paying for the taj mahal that you're getting elsewhere. 89 00:06:46.279 --> 00:06:49.439 So let's talk about what I want to talk about today, which is part 90 00:06:49.439 --> 00:06:55.519 of insurance rates and the hospital rates and how expensive it is, and how 91 00:06:55.519 --> 00:07:00.759 people often don't get true second opinions because if you get the same opinion in 92 00:07:00.800 --> 00:07:03.279 place one, two three, it's not really a second opinion. It's just 93 00:07:03.360 --> 00:07:08.000 group think. And some people like group think that say, oh, doctor 94 00:07:08.040 --> 00:07:10.560 one two three all said I should have my breast remove, so I should 95 00:07:10.560 --> 00:07:13.759 have my breast remove, or I should both breast remove. And that's how 96 00:07:13.800 --> 00:07:15.920 it was when I came to New York. When I came to New York, 97 00:07:15.519 --> 00:07:21.600 people women with breast cancer, ninety seven percent were getting mestectomy for care 98 00:07:21.759 --> 00:07:27.639 of their breast cancer. Ninety seven percent at the biggest hospitals in New York 99 00:07:27.680 --> 00:07:30.639 were getting messtectomy. Was that because it was better care? No, I 100 00:07:30.639 --> 00:07:33.199 don't believe so, because there'd be studies to show that. There aren't studies 101 00:07:33.240 --> 00:07:36.199 to show that it's the most expensive care. And you can find that out. 102 00:07:36.279 --> 00:07:40.839 You can go online and see the price of a mastectomy versus the price 103 00:07:40.839 --> 00:07:44.639 of us giving radiation to the breast, and you'll see it's whatever ten times 104 00:07:44.680 --> 00:07:48.519 more, and it's invasive and it's deforming. And that's why so many women, 105 00:07:48.560 --> 00:07:54.079 for example, with breast cancer come here because some just don't want to 106 00:07:54.079 --> 00:07:57.639 have their breast deformed. They don't want their breast removed. Many women don't 107 00:07:57.639 --> 00:08:03.920 even want chemotherapy, even though it may give a few percentage points better survival. 108 00:08:03.000 --> 00:08:07.160 Many women just do not want that. And I talk 123 00:09:05.360 --> 00:09:09.000 often about the super duper hospitals in New York, but I can tell you 124 00:09:09.080 --> 00:09:11.080 where I trained in Boston, spent many years, was on the staff. 125 00:09:11.320 --> 00:09:18.360 Boston has also super duper Pooper Scooper hospitals, world famous hospitals, and they 126 00:09:18.399 --> 00:09:22.279 too think that they're the best in the world. And I can vouge for 127 00:09:22.320 --> 00:09:24.200 that. They spent many years there, and I know how the thinking goes. 128 00:09:24.679 --> 00:09:28.519 So this man had prostate cancer. He's found and he's fully active man. 129 00:09:28.679 --> 00:09:33.759 He's highly respectable man, businessman, family man, and he went to 130 00:09:33.799 --> 00:09:39.320 the biggest hospitals in Boston and mainly they want to do surgery on him. 131 00:09:39.360 --> 00:09:43.720 And we know for Glease in seven cancer success rate is about sixty percent. 132 00:09:43.279 --> 00:09:46.720 And most of the places in Boston wanted to give him hormone treatments. Well, 133 00:09:46.720 --> 00:09:50.559 hormone treatments. What are hormone treatments for men with prostate cancer. Well, 134 00:09:50.559 --> 00:09:56.559 they're anti testosterone. They take away testosterone and that leads to a loss 135 00:09:56.559 --> 00:10:01.399 of sexual feelings, loss of libido, loss of a actions, loss of 136 00:10:01.480 --> 00:10:05.440 muscle strength, hot flashes, weight gain us and growing of the breast. 137 00:10:05.480 --> 00:10:09.759 You'll see that in our office. Part of the art of radiosurgery. And 138 00:10:09.879 --> 00:10:15.120 many many, many, many many men and many men just do not want 139 00:10:15.159 --> 00:10:18.720 to have hormonal treatment if they don't need to have it. It shows that eighty percent of people who are 210 00:15:07.960 --> 00:15:15.080 getting chemo for palliation for metastatic cancer think that the chemo is aimed to cure 211 00:15:15.120 --> 00:15:20.200 them, when it's not for stage four cancer. For most cancers, chemotherapy 212 00:15:20.279 --> 00:15:24.399 is given, possibly to slow down the cancer for a few weeks or months, 213 00:15:24.559 --> 00:15:28.600 but it's not made to cure the person. So why is it that 214 00:15:28.639 --> 00:15:33.519 eighty percent of people are getting chemo for palliation, which is the usual thing 215 00:15:33.799 --> 00:15:37.879 when cancer has traveled. Think they're getting chemo for cure, but it's not 216 00:15:37.919 --> 00:15:43.200 true. So why don't the doctors say it, Hey, you've got incurable 217 00:15:43.279 --> 00:15:46.720 cancer. You cannot be treated for cure. You can be treated to slow 218 00:15:46.759 --> 00:15:48.679 down the cancer for a few weeks or months. Why don't they say it 219 00:15:48.720 --> 00:15:52.919 to the patient? Why aren't they honest? Why are they subjecting the patient 220 00:15:52.960 --> 00:15:56.720 to months and years of chemo it doesn't work.
