On today's show, we're going to talk about the PGTPLO series that just wrapped up. We'll also go into the PGT leaderboard because there are some updates there. The World Series of Poker announced it's Tournament of Champions for the w SP circuit, so we'll hit on that because there's been a lot of pushback, i'll say, from people on social media. We got to hit on the debut of the Savage Average. Hit took place recently at WPT Rolling thunder, so we got that. An interesting prop bet came up between Robert Koon and Sean Deeb that is currently underway. We'll hit on that. I want to know if Tim would be able to do it himself. We got to touch on the US Poker Open, which is going to start in just a couple of days. I think we should do a little fantasy something, Okay. I think we should do fantasy for all our series. Okay. And then I guess we'll hit on the Texas Poker Open, so why not. And then I'm sure we'll spin off into a few different tangents along the way. We were missing some faces, but we also got some new guys in the mix, so all in all, I think it was a pretty good turnout from start to finish. You know, the the PLO guys, I think they've held up their end of the bargain. The players, I mean better than the mix game guys. That's what I'll say. That's my hot take coming out of it. So, mixed game guys, I'm looking at you. You're the ones who pushed for us to have two mixed game series last season. You're the ones who pushed for us to have it again this season. But the numbers haven't been that great. I mean they've been good, but like not as good as the first one. Right, Yeah, series has been holding a little bit more steady. Right. I'm going to quickly run through the event winners and then Tim and I can just kind of hit on more of them as we go. There were ten events as part of the PGTPLO series. Alan Lee won the first one one hundred and sixty one thousand dollars. Elis Parsonen finished pro and Absolute Plo Crusher won the second event, which he defended his title from the series before PGTPLO series. He took home one hundred and thirty one thousand dollars plus another thirty two five hundred dollars in bounties. Daniel Negranu won event number three, continues his hot year one hundred and forty seven thousand dollars for him winning event number three Sammy Sippola won event number four for two hundred and forty thousand dollars. Ronald Kaiser, the Dutchman who now lives out in la won event number five for eighty thousand dollars plus eighty thousand dollars in bounties. That was a progressive bounty. Dylan Wiseman, when we talk about the PGT leaderboard coming up, we're going to talk about him because he is the top dog. Spoiler alert. He won at number six for just under two hundred and thirty thousand dollars. Sammy Sipple up back in the Winter circle for event number seven, took home one hundred and fifty nine thousand dollars and then two hundred and thirty nine thousand dollars in bounties. Another PKO as part of the series, another two time winner, Helis Parson and the Finns just absolutely crushing PLO as is expected by I think everyone in poker. He won at number eight, did Parson in three hundred and forty eight thousand, six hundred dollars. There seth Davies his first ever PLO cash, which is a wild to think about. He won the twenty five thousand dollars championship event. That was event number nine on the schedule, five hundred and twenty two thousand dollars for him, and then James Calderero, who we don't see too often in the studio, but happy to have the big show here. He took home the final event of at number ten. He won just under fifty seven thousand dollars for that. All right, what do you got for me? Sa, I got a lot of stuff. I'm gonna start with Alan lay Plo Crusha, the best Lee brother in poker. Yes, you heard that right, Tommy Nam It's all about Allen le He's had thirteen PGT PLO series cashes in I would say he's probably played twenty eight ish events. That's pretty damn good. He's got that one victory. Also plays our mixed game series, also plays the Arie high Rollers held in here, the PLO ones you mentioned, Sammy. He won two hundred and thirty nine thousand in boundies, right, yeah, which is what two and a half times what he won first place. He'd beat Jim. He beat Jim Callopy heads up, Yes, Jim Callop. He won one bounty three thousand dollars. So the thing of that swing it was an early like it was an early bounty or somebody hadn't busted anyone else. Yeah, so think about that swing where he could have potentially swung another, you know, one hundred and something thousand dollars. That's pretty crazy. Sat Col though the Big Show and then ten he doubled I think ninety six times heads up against Alan Lee to win that. That my little anomalies from the PGTP loosers. Yeah, so of course we always do a series leaderboard for all of our series. The winner of this one was Sammy Cippola. Kind of a little bit of a breakout. I mean, I mean, if you follow the high stakes scene, specifically leaning towards Polam and Omaha, you likely know who Sammy Cippola is. But a little bit of a kind of lataral Guera esque breakout in terms of like he's a straight plo player, comes here, does extremely well. He had those two victories, he had four cashes overall. He also finished second to Seth Davies in the twenty five thousand dollars Championship event, taking home a good chunk of change there when you include the bounties that Cipolo won in the event number seven victory that he had. Then he cashed for more than a million dollars at this series, so really really, really awesome showing out from Cippola. He came over with Elos Parson and Jones Cronwitter. You know that grew uh Mickey Duek boy in that group. Yeah, the boys, well, Yanni, Yanni, you can mine and I believe had a child, so he was out. He was you know, they had to send him to the bed a child a month ago. Well whatever, it doesn't matter. They had to send him to the bench and they said, Sammy, let's go. You're in. You're in the game the better PLO players, I mean clearly because he just came out on top. So yeah, Cipolo came out on top of the leaderboard, gets a ten thousand dollars PGT passport as a bonus prize, Elis Parson and got second on the leaderboard. So the Fins just as it taking all that money and gone Beckerson as as expected, as expected for sure. I did speak to Sammy after he had finished second. Him and Seth was sitting at the bar chatting a little bit, and I was kind of informing tell me about the passport, and he he asked, you know how I can use I said, you know, we're gonna do another PLO series in October, you know probably then if you can come, possibly another one hundred k. I said the one hundred k and his eyes lit up. So I'm like, okay, let's lock him in for that. I did tell him about the World Series and how we have you know, plethora. I'll pay a lot of high role is in this very room. And he said that he might not be coming for the World Series. So if you're out there, you know, trying to put him on your draft team, on the ADB team, he might not becoming he's having a baby. He's gonna be put on the bench with Yoni to have a shot. So he may come for a little bit of the World Series. He said, he's not really sure. He's gonna, you know, obviously talk to his partner about that and figure out the logistics. Yeah. I mean, overall, again, I think it was a good series, really good turnout. A lot of the regulars here. You know, we even got josh Ari, who is you know, just got married over the weekend and is probably on some honeymoon in some you know, luxurious, lavish place, probably some really hot weather Caribbean destination, who he knows, but he did come out for for a chunk of it. It was really well. I finished second to Ronald in that the PKO so well, yeah, he might he blew that heads of believe. I mean, he had just such a lead he did to play. And not not that Ronald's a bad player. Ronald's a very very very good hero player. And you know, but he he just had Josh had such a lead and just could He did leave very angry. I did notice that. Yeah, I mean I think I think that one was like it was there for the taking for sure, loss of any play. Yeah. So but ef at number six winner, we got to touch on him as we transition over into our next topic, that is Dylan Wiseman. So he won e at number six at the PGT PLO series for what was his third victory of the twenty twenty four PGT season. All of Wiseman's success throughout the PGTPLO series allowed him to move into first place on the PGT lead aboard. I'm going to quickly run through the top five. We got Dylan Wiseman up on top one. Thousand and forty seven points. David Coleman has nine hundred and thirty seven points. Notably, he's been on nine thirty seven for quite a while now. He did play a couple of events. Yeah for sure. I'm just saying he just hasn't really had the results. Sammy Sippolo, with all his success from the PGTPLO series, has moved into third place with seven hundred and forty nine point points. Daniel Legranu leap frogged a couple people to get up into fourth place. He's got seven hundred and sixteen points, and then Kristen Foxen has six hundred and sixty six points and she rounds out the top five. So Dylan Wiseman notably takes over the top spot. He's the first player to get more than a thousand points over the course of the season. He's the first player to win more than one million dollars from PGT events this season. Now, Sammy Cippola, if you include the bouncing money that he won from the PLO series, also has eclipsed one million dollars. We don't technically count the bounty money as prize pool money, but Wiseman still got their first so that doesn't matter. Wiseman has three wins and nine cases on the season. Those nine cashes, he's tied for the most with Daniel Legrandu. Those three wins, he's tied for the most with David Coleman. So, Dylan Wiseman, you know, he is known most as a PLO player, but did extremely well during the Mixed Game series. Joked coming into the PLO series that he's now a Mixed games pro and a PLO recreational player. Right now, I'm guessing he's going to be a no limit recreational player or no limit pro for USPO. I mean be he can obviously play USPO or played no limital right, I'm guessing because of how well he's done this season, his positioning on the leaderboard, he's going to for sure play at least the opening group of events at the USPO, So the five K, the ten k's whatever, you know, and then probably go I'll see how I go from their type of thing, and that'll be his approach. But uh, but yeah, what do you offer me on the leaderboard? Move over, Sean Dabe, because Dylan Wiseman is the best all round poker player in the world. Oh, my god, no limit hold him victories, mixed game victories, PLO victories. Sean Daep's sitting over there and you know, New York wherever. He is sitting on his auswatching TV, lifting some weights and eating a salad. He's lost his touch. All he does. He's played the World Series. He can only handle these soft World series of poker fields. He can't come in here, he can't compete with the best. The best players in the world play here in the studio. Sean deeb, you were not one of the best players in the world, and I don't think he will be ever again. Well well, I mean that's just an idiotic I know you had laid on thick there, but I mean, come on, I'm back. I'm back with my takes. Jylan Wiseman is, of course an extremely well rounded poker player, and I think he's he's showcasing that, you know, more in these recent months, the recent year, so, you know, showing out in the mixed game stuff. He knows his limitations too, because he has said, you know, like I don't think I can beat the you know, in the higher mind. No limits. He doesn't feel like he has any edge. He feels like he's you know, obviously a weak spot, but he's admitted, I'm running hot. Things are going my way. I'm gonna take some more risks I normally would, and you know it's paid off in events that are not his his forte which is mixing no Limit. But yeah, he's getting it done. CODs are following his way, and it shows a thousand and forty seven PGT points and he's hottest start to this to the season, he could possibly yeah, and given everything that that's coming up, you know, USPO, of course I would. I would expect him to play at least four or five events at the USPO and then again he'll he'll see how he goes from there. Not sure if he's going to head down to Texas or not for the Texas Poker Open, but you know, obviously wait to see there. Of course, the summer is going to be huge for Dylan Weiseman. There is a lot of PO events on the Wissity schedule. Of course, he'll be in every single one of those, from the one k is to the fifty k. Yeah, he'll be in there. He'll probably fire a lot of the mixed game stuff, especially if he does continue to run hot, right, He'll he'll certainly be in there. You know. Even if if Dylan thinks that he might be not as good as some of the best players in the world in terms of like Nolamit hold him and the mixed game stuff, you know, but he obviously excels in PLO. He's the type of poker mind that I think can figure it out right, and and the edge is not that great between those players, right, so I think he can do just fine overall. So so I would I would hope that he fires a lot across the world series of pograms right now, give me a price twenty five K fantasy Dylan last month. I mean I would need to know his volume. You're just a lady's volume thirty dollars. Yeah, but like, but I'm outlining his volume from a Dylan Wiseman poker playing perspective versus a ws P twenty five K perspective. Yeah, the pint, you know, so so yeah, whatever the price is, it's got to be more the Sean da Let's move on. No, there's no shot. Also, in regards to Dylan Wiseman, you touched on it earlier, there are nine PGTPOO events this year at the Studio. Okay, so there's that. There's also five NOL and hold him events, but but yeah, I mean Dylan Wiseman will have a lot of stuff to play during the summer, you know, if he thinks he can basically get his fix across I don't know, ten to fifteen, maybe fifteen to twenty World Series of Poker events and then have those nine PGTPO events. There's also going to be some PO events. I believe it's part of the Wins schedule. So there's there's a good amount of stuff that that I think can can keep Dylan Wiseman satisfied, which which makes me a little bit more cautious than maybe I would be regarding his twenty five K fantasy price, just because if he's if he's not going to be going like one all in on on WSFP only stuff and he's going to be venturing elsewhere, then then maybe I tick him down five to eight dollars or something like that and we go from there. But I think overall he's going to be a pretty good bye. We had him on our team two years ago, I think the first year at the at the Horseshoe. He got COVID halfway through the world procus, so you know, what are you going to do there? But yeah, I mean, but it's also like it's one of those things where he's he's known. Now, he gets drafted. Look up what he got drafted for last year, and we I think we got him two years ago for kind of cheap. I think he went up in price last year if I remember correctly, although I could be wrong on that. And then this year, especially if he continues to run hot, if people continue to talk about him, if he continues to do winter photos with with his fiance standing on his shoulders, then six dollars last year, Okay, we got already six dollars. Look at that ten cash. He'll go for twenty to twenty five this year, I think would be would be my guess. I think he's probably worth it if he can give you fifteen to twenty, like that's the floor for WSP events. I think that's that's probably all right. I mean, he's just that type of good, especially in the plo stuff. So yeah, all right, So that's the PGT leaderboard. Again. We have Dylan Wiseman on top with more than a thousand points. He's the only player up above one thousand points. We have David Coleman, Sammy Sippola, Daniel Legroanio, and Kristen Fox and rounding out the top five. All right, WSP announces that the WSP Circuit Tournament of Champions is going to be at the Commerce Casino in La So, this entire circuit stop is going to run May tenth through twenty fourth. The series is going to have one point seventy five million dollars in guarantees. I think the main event is a million dollar guarantee. And then the series also includes the WSP Circuit Tourna of Champions which takes place May twenty second to the twenty fourth. And then that has a separate million dollar free roll prize school attached to it which includes like all ring winners braced the winners of like the recent year, basically the recent season of the circuit. So so yeah, now a couple things here. It gets announced. First, the WASP announces the ws AP schedule. Within that press release, they say that they're going to announce the Tournament of Champions because the Tournament Champions was not included on the schedule, and it has been in recent years. You know it has been held elsewhere, which I think Chad Hollowy did a good job of pointing out, because people have really revision is history where they're like, it's always been in Vegas. We'll know it hasn't been, okay, So first of all, let's just stop there. It's been in Vegas recently, yes, okay, but it hasn't always been there. So let's just you know, put that out there now. They did say in the press release with the schedule that it will be announced I believe they said March fifteenth, yes, and they didn't announce it on March fifteenth. There was some people that are like, hey, where is this week goes by? Two weeks go by. They finally announced, Okay, and it's in La at Commerce Casino. So the beautiful Commerce casino. Listen. I love the grungey Commerce casinos, the big Poker Pit. I like it. I like like it because it's like grungy, and I'm like, yeah, this is like, this is it. This is where I go grind, Like, yeah, grind, grunge. Let's go La like people getting pissed off yelling at you, like, let's go seventy thousand things on the menu. To eat, you know, like I'm in so a lot of people mostly like the you know, the way circuit crowd, and there's a lot of those people that frequent those events. There's a lot of ring winners, there's a lot of people kind of chasing this all that sort of stuff. They took issue with the fact that one the announcement was late. Then the announcement was late, and a lot of people pointed to a press release from last year when the World Series of Poker said that it would return to Vegas this year. Yeah, so that was an issue. People are just saying, you know, generally it's just easier to have it in Vegas during the World Series of Poker. I think I would agree on that. Yes, there's also the California tax situation where I believe it's if you're not from California and you cash, you're like slapped with an instant like seven percent tax and you can try and get that back, but it takes a while takes back, Like, yeah, it takes a while. It could be like multiple tax Yeah, I mean that's just that's that's why, like, you know, we've at the PGT, I've talked about let's you know, why don't we try and go somewhere to California, Like we're always like, well, taxes, like people like people have gotten hip to the tax thing now and they're like whatever, I'm not gonna bother with the California events. So so that's the sort I think in Hyde roll is it's more of an issue because of the ROI yeah, so so yeah, I don't know what are your thoughts on this overall? Where do you where would you put it? Where do you think it would be? Vegas? Baby? Come, Okay, let's say let's say here's here's on the schedule that you mean. Listen, it can't be it can't be apples to apples because I don't think it is, although I don't know, but I'm assuming it's not. So let's say Commerce Casino is offering you five hundred k, or you can do it in Vegas, but it's on your own time. But I'm still doing Vegas. Yeah, I'm just I'm just wondering, like, at what point is it like, is that number two million? Is that number five million? Is that number a million? Is that? You know what I mean? Like, at some point it makes sense to take the money. Yeah, I mean if they're adding a million to the prize pool, it would be it would it would I think it would convince people. If you said we're going to come us, it's not a million dollar free roll, it's a two million dollar free roll. I think you're more likely to buy some like Goodwill and more likely players will come. My biggest issue is obviously the late announcement. Like, let's put aside the even though they said it in Vegas, they already made this decision. They should have been released simultaneously with the WSP schedule. Now I know there's probably contracts, I'll say that it should have been released. It should be released when they announced the WSP circuit schedule. Yeah, they don't. They don't announce like the events at every single stop, but they say these are the stops, and then the last stop is this, and this includes the Tournament of Champions. Now, maybe that's in Vegas, maybe that's commerce, maybe that's somewhere else in the world. Oh who knows, right, But like, that's how I think you would want to do it because I think, again going back to that original announcement that people pointed to when they they all they said was it was going to be in Vegas during during the doubsit, so people had like, Okay, well, if I like chase a little bit here and there, I'm always gonna end up in Vegas. Now people are like, wait, now I got to go to La Yeah, Like that's kind of frustrating for a lot of people. It is frustrating, But if they had had some more time, because I feel like once the WSP schedules out, a lot of people are planning that series. They're also so booking flights, planning accommodations and stuff. And now if you're if you're like, look, if you're West Coast space, you can figure it out. If you're coming from New York, or you're driving from Florida, or you're flying in from wherever because you want to bracelet. Now you have to come in a week early to play the TOC in another city, so you have to either spend some money on changing your flights or book another flight and more accommodation. That's more of an issue to me than the tax, because I think it's a free roll. Whatever you win money away, it's kind of a double tax. You're not getting taxed on having to go somewhere pay extra money flight, accommodation, you know, all that sort of stuff. It's not I it's not that cheap to stay in California. Yeah, that thing to me, brothers me in more what bothers me? And I'm you know, I'm going to I guess be picking a fold at WSP is that they they made an announcement saying who was qualified, and it excluded the twenty twenty three WSB Bracelet winners. Now then they release the list of players and they keep updating it. I don't understand why it can't just be updated when they can't be one hundred percent accurate when they make this announcement, like, I don't to me, I don't think it's that hard. And then they decided to add the WSB Bracelet winners. So it was it a you forgot that they were supposed to be part of it in the press release and now you're adding them, or you felt bad so now you're adding them. Either way, I think, like, you know, if you're trying to plan a release or a press release on something as big as this, you should have all your eyes doted or your teas crusts. That list should be one hundred percent accurate up to that point. I don't think it's that difficult. With the data that's out there and you are the WSP, you can keep track of these results. So that to me left. We saw it here in person in the studio. We saw people that had qualified but that weren't on the list. They were pissed, like wow, so I don't get to go so like and then they get added and they're like, Okay, now I'm fine, but you leave this bad taste in people's mouth. Even though it gets resolved, they're just like, it's just like a shitty kind of situation. So that kind of bothers me the really the most. Actually, yeah, I guess I got to say that. I think I was wrong because didn't I say that this would be the hundredth bracelet event on the podcast? You flowed the idea that that would add this to the schedule as the hundredth of bracelet. Technically it's is there still a bracelet? It is a bracelet. And if we go on previous instances where WSP added an event to the series midway a couple of years ago, maybe the second last Rio one, it became the last event number, but it was in the middle so technically this should kind of be a event. Does this count as like a bracelet or like the I'm saying in terms of like getting us to a hundred, Like, I don't think I would classify this as a hundred even though it's negative one. I don't think so it is it's a hundred bracelet. So yeah, I mean that's it's it's really interesting to see the pushback. Now, Is anything going to happen? I mean, it's not like we haven't seen this sort of stuff before where the playing community gets mad at something. You know, they're all up in arms on social media, they're voicing their complaints, et cetera. But are they all just going to show up at the end of the day. I think so. So oh, they might skip the first ball. Like I would say that it's hard because it's hard because listen the other side of this argument, and you know, I think it's worth mentioning because there are always two sides of an argument. Is end of the day, they're giving a million dollar free role. I mean yeah, Like you know, it's like that's still a lot of money that's up for grabs, and I know they might have like lessened, like what the buying equivalency is in recent years and whatever, like, but still, I mean it's a million dollar free roll. Yeah, and I think I wouldttach another part of that argument in that if you are playing, if you are planning to play in the million dollar free Real Tournament Champions, then I would think that you would also go out for a part of the series. I mean, they have a I think it's a six hundred dollars they're calling it the house forming event. That's an opener, five hundred k guarantee. You have the main event that's I think it's seventeen hundred dollars buying, which is always their main event million dollar guarantee. So you know, there's gonna be some good value from some people out in LA because there are a lot of tournament players that are out there. So if you're on the better side of a pro poker player or even like a very serious recreational who's very good, like, I think you can still go value hunting out there overall. So I don't think it's like the worst situation in the world. But yeah, if it was my choice, it just would have been in Vegas because one, I mean I always try and come at things, maybe to my detriment at times, but like pr branding, marketing first, I mean that it puts the best eyeballs on it to have it as part of the World Series of Poker, right, Yeah, Like I feel like that's where you want to do it, and you want to like you come to us as the production team and say, hey, this is something we want streamed for sure, like this is something we want to highlight, like or let's kick off the world series with it, you know, because if it's not going to include the bracelet winners from this upcoming summer, well then you just kick it off right at the beginning. Yeah, you know that sort of thing. I have an idea that I could almost have it be. You could have it in a way like the opening week could kind of be like Champion Celebration week because you have the Champions of the Union, you got the Tournament of Champions, like you know, boom boom, like everything kind of in that opening weekend or whatever. I have an idea like, obviously I don't know how the money works, and I'm assuming they take you know, there's a portion of the RAKE that is set aside for the TC, but I think it would be cool if it wasn't a million dollar free roll, it was like a fluctuating number. So what I mean is as the circuit grows and you have entries and you're pulling money from each entry, the free roll starts building. So this start of the season, the free rolls zero dollars, right, you guarantee a minimum a million. But then there's a world where if the circuit is popular, and that should be the goal if you're running the WSB circuit, that you want ear on your increase in numbers. In atten DAEs that the freeroll could be one point one three six million, right, Like that'd be kind of cool that if you hit targets you give, you start giving a bit more back to the players, so it increases the free You would want to for sure set a minimum set down and go above that, which I think is is it does incentivize people to like really play. Yeah, I mean, I think that wouldn't be a bad idea. So so yeah, I don't know. I'm interested to hear people's thoughts. Man, I've obviously have heard a lot of thoughts out out there on social media. So yeah, I mean, we'll kind of see how it goes. I'm guessing the end of the day, it's still a pretty good series overall. You know they're going to get big numbers. It is Tournament Poker, it's a big brand, that WSP circuit, it's out in LA, it's at commerce, so you know, they got big guarantees on everything. So I think overall the series will will have a good turnout and then kind of lead right into the World Series of Poker, which is you know, if this is going to end if the Tournament Champions takes place twenty second through twenty fourth of May, I mean this is that's going to be a week until the ws P at that time. Speaking of California, I mean kind of the Savage average debuted at Rolling Thunder WPT Rolling Thunder at Thunder Valley in northern California. So this tournament was the idea of Matt Savage, friend of the podcast. Not sure if he's a friend of me anymore, but a friend of the podcast. After my my take on this event, he might not be your friends of the Oh wow, Okay, So what this is is it's a tournament where everyone starts with fifty big blinds. There's a fifty big blind average to start the tournament. Over the course of the tournament, there are no tournament clocks in terms of like the time level, right, normally you're like, okay, every level sixty minutes, every little forty minutes, whatever it may be. No, in this tournament, the levels increase based on the big blind average, which is determined of course by the number of the players in the field. The big blind average never below fifty big blinds, so you just play, play play if it if it ever gets or if it gets too high, right, then they put the put the blind up. Yeah, yeah, and then they you know, you continue on, but you're always keeping like the big blind average, never below fifty big blinds, I believe is what they're doing with this. The first one, again was at thunder value. It had ninety one entries. I actually forget the buy in now that I should have wrote that down in my notes, but anyway, ninety one entries within the first or sorry, within the registration period. One third of the field was eliminated, which makes sense because you're not starting as deep. You're only starting fifty big blinds deep. A lot of tournaments you're two big onine ZB your three hundred big mine z, but like it's just it's insane, right. The longest level, I think this is all from Matt Savage put it on Twitter. The longest level after registration closed was two hours and fourteen minutes. The shortest level was thirty two minutes. The average level was forty four minutes. So that that average level falls right in line with like what you see at this sort of price point, you know, you get normally it's like a thirty minute at this price point, which I think this was what six hundreds, I can't remember exactly. Can you look that up for me? Just look up Ben Ludlow because he made the found table alongside Jeff Platz. Shout out to those two guys best friends. They probably colluded the whole way to the damn fountain. So anyway, average level was forty five, so it's probably really yeah, five hundred plus seventy probably so anyway, so yeah, so when you get that that sort of price point, I mean, I think that's perfect. The tournament lasted just under thirteen hours. There was a heads up chop Savage posted himself said not much that he'd changed. Ben Ludlow again got second place after that heads up chop. He said his favorite part of it was how deep they were at the final table. He also said that he loves playing meaningful poker from the start. Lesser experienced players didn't adjust accordingly to being deep late, which you know, if you're a better player then you can certainly take advantage of that, and that heads up play was too deep that he said there was a seventy five big blind average heads up, which is insane. Got to speed that up for sure. Jeff Platt also made the final table and said that he agreed with what Ben Ludlow said. He echoed playing meaningful poker from the starts, that it was nice to play deep at the final table and towards the endgame. So it seems like people enjoyed it. It seems like it worked out pretty well. I'm curious to see where it goes from here now. It is definitely going to Seminal hard Rock in South Florida as part of the Seminal hard Rock Poker Showdown coming up later this month on April twenty second. They're going to have a six hundred dollars buying fifty thousand dollars guaranteed Savage Average tournament. So We'll see how it goes there. I would say that Thunder Valley is a tournament room that I think the staff is certainly on top of things, very much more attentive, which you have to be with this tournament. I would probably say the same of the Florida crew, you know, just knowing what they've done in the past. Now, of course maybe that change is going forward with how they handle this, but I'm guessing they handle it perfectly. So yeah, I'm curious if you think it's going to catch on, Like do you think this is going to be a thing where we're removing tournament clocks more on poker? I mean it all. It seems like the biggest thing that I think is caught on recently is well, one, clocks in poker have certainly caught on a lot of places use clocks also, like mystery boundaries have certainly caught on. Like those are the two biggest things to me. I mean, mystery boundies are if you have a series, you have a mystery boundie, Like that's just what you do, right, So are you now like if you have a series you have a savage average or is it something does it take on? So does it take on the mystery bounty approach, where like it's like, if you have a series, you have one of these tournaments, or does it take on the big blind ante approach where it's like, this is just the way it's going to be from now on. What's your opinion? Which way does it go? Well? Because at first everyone was like big blind antih like, well, okay, we'll try in this event, will try in that event. Now it's just the norm. That's just what it is. Is it become the norm or does it become more of a novelty event. It's a novelty event and that shows that the fact that only ninety one play is played. Yeah, but you got it first of all, you got to start somewhere. Sure, I would gay, I would probably bet that thunder Value lost money on this event. What wow, right Covering Dealers, you said it one forty ohs. I don't think it will catch on the fact that it was done at thunder Valley. I think Ben Irwin is willing to try things, willing to work with their partner, which is great. Now we're going to see savage average of the world series the PGT tried. Probably not and maybe it will be it like a thunder Valley and WPT friendly slash family stops. The idea is interesting. It probably does need some tweaking. Obviously, it's the first time it's ever run. I bet you there'll be some small changes for seminal and wherever it goes next. I just think that industry operators, and I'm including ourselves in that, I'm including Matt, including all the tours out there, knows what works, right, We know what works, but sometimes we try and get fancy. We sometimes you know, look, we've done that as well with some stuff we've done in the PLO series. We know it works. Just keep it simple and kind of just yeah. We always start antying work and then eventually somebody, well we're still handy. It's just I'm just wondering, this is still running to ternament, This is still I get a different way to do it. It's just that, do we need to reinvent the wheel on something like this? I don't think we need to. My hot take, I think this does. Okay, go ahead, give you a hot take. My hot take is, did Matt Savage invent this to keep himself relevant? You can't be a question. Your heart take has to be a take, and my take is he created this to stay relevant. He's not. People think he doesn't do anything at the WPT things. He plays too much golf, He does nothing with a WSP anymore, barely plays any poker. This is his shot at becoming relevant once again in the poka industry, now that it's not two thousand and three. That's my heart take. No, that's that's a ridiculous take, your second ridiculous take of this podcast. You're just ramming. My take is this, If this does catch on and become a thing, it is going to be detrimental to poker in the long run in terms of getting more recreational players into the game because recreational players cannot play deep, elaborate poker. They can't. I get what you're saying. Okay. Which Ryan, producer of the podcast, has been on this take for years. It is the first. He is the first to be on it as far as I know, he's been on it forever. I know some other people have picked it up at times. I don't know exactly who was first with it, but I'm giving rich Ryan credit because I want to. He's always said that the WSP manim in structure is too good and hurts the quote unquote dream for recreationals because once you get deep, you know, day six, day seven, et cetera, the res have no chance. I mean, yeah, you might get unknown players in terms of like name brands, but they're all still generally very very good, right. I mean, who's like the kind of the wild card that broke through recently. I mean John Hesp, that's exactly who you know, Like he's like but he's like the only one you don't. You just don't get this like craziness anymore because it's it's too good. They're so deep, right, Like it's just so I'm taking the Rich Ryan take, and I'm expanding it to this in that if every tournament were to move to this, like the REX would have no shot if you're playing if you're playing fifty big blind average from the start to the finish of a tournament, like I understand at the start, like, yeah, you're a little bit shorter than normal, but over the course of the tournament the average stays at fifty big blinds. I mean, the professional players are just going to eat the recreational players alive. So yeah, I feel like maybe the fixes it starts fifty. Maybe it says one hundred bb average and then it like it slowly like increases so goes or decreases one hundred and ninety eighty seventy sixty to fifty. So when you get to the found table, maybe you're at thirty big ones, which is still a lot. You know, if you're at the final table at thirty big blind average at a final table is pretty deep overall, So you could stop making at the start, you know, as you get as you get to like half a final table, then yeah, thirty big bind I mean I certainly also on the other side, like I hate like when you get everyone's got ten to fifteen big bndes and it's just silly, Like you know, I don't like that about some of our events. How it just basically gets to like if they play for so long, they're also good, they're also worried about ICM, Like I mean, it's part of it's fascinating, yes, to see how these guys maneuver those sort of situations, but also part of it is like it's just crapshoot, and you know, we want there to be a lot of skill involved. So I think from a like I almost feel like the savage average would work well like in PGT type of events where it's more pro heavy, elite player heavy, and like that's what we're trying to sell, like these are the most elite players in the world, Like it's been told to us, like we want this to be the PGA of poker, Like those are the best golfers. Yeah, like we want these to be the best players, right, So then maybe this sort of thing works better here, But for a six hundred dollars buying event, I don't know if it works so much in terms of like you might play it once or twice, but then you might realize, Okay, I'm not gonna win because I'm not going to beat the good guys. Yeah, because it's just once we get deep, I just kind of had no shot type of thing. So so yeah, so that's my take there. I would like to see it continue to be offered as you know, kind of a one off novelty event is part of every schedule because I do think that variety helps and there are going to be some people that like this sort of thing. So so yeah, that's that's where I'm at with it. Why would I want to be locked up on a cruise when you can just send me to a resort somewhere I can do the thing with the possibility of leaving and the possibility of not sinking into the ocean. Would be a cool idea to play some poker on a boat, just like the old party poker days of the early WPT season. Yeah, you know, I'm just not a go on a cruise type of guy, so I agree, i'd but I think it looks. It looks it does They're they're doing a damn good job of making it look good. And this has certainly been something that I think Adam Pliska has always wanted forever, you know, and and he got his wish and he made this happen. So kudos to him and the team for putting this on decent turnout and beat the guarantee overall. So yeah, you know, I think I think it was I think it was good overall. You know. The only other thing that I would say like that I might change is Originally when I heard about this idea, I just assumed it was like families, but it's not okay, but they have a partnership with the Virgin. The Virgin cruise ships are all adults only. That's the thing. Get a different partnership. Yeah. I was also thinking actually on my drive down here to the studio today, it just popped into my head. So, now that you have this partnership with the Virgin the cruise ships, can you do a WPT at Virgin here in Vegas or like? So deb gave Coon twenty to one odds. Cohon is betting three thousand dollars to win sixty thousand dollars against Shan Deep. Coun cannot consume anything other than water and coffee for thirty days. He can drink. I think it's he can't drink coffee for two hours upon waking. Or maybe it's he can drink coffee for two hours. Wrong, I can't. It's written as he can drink coffee for two hours upon waking. But I'm wondering saw me either that's he can only drink the coffee in two hours, because coffee is a bit of an appetite suppressant. So wondering if that's the case or if he needs to delay it. I'm guessing it might be because they don't want him to have it be an appetite suppressant for the entire day. So anyway, he can also consume electrolytes, salt, and vitamins. I checked Koon's Twitter today. He's on day ten, so he's going strong. At this point. I feel like he's just gonna make it. I try not how like I've done a water fass. I think you've done a water fass. It's terrible, It's brutal. No, it's not, it's not. It's terrible for the first three or four days, and then honestly, after that you just forget about it. I mean, he's I think he said he's what ten days in? Is he about ten days in? I think today's day. I believe he's in Costa Rica playing poker like so that makes it tough for I think going in the tough spot. I saw one photo where he was like out to dinner with people. That's tough. I know. I don't know if I could do that, like you just gotta say my waterfast like I was. I feel like I was dying. I feel like I was dead. I had nothing in me. I don't know I was gonna excited that the water fast. I've done some extended juice fast and like the first two to three maybe four days are usually annoying. That's when your body is really adjusting. You might get some headaches, you feel really grumpy, all that sort of stuff. You know, your energy levels are are low while your bottle body is still adjusting. But then once you get past like that third or fourth day, it's kind of just like the new normal and you can just go. I mean, I went on a I went on. I know the juice fast is different than waterfast, of course, yes, I think the longest water fast I did was a week juice fast. I went on one time. I planned to do a five day juice fast, and it lasted like eighteen days because I just got to the point where I was like whatever, like let's just keep getting calories and you don't get you get like fifty alleries of juice. I mean, no, I understand, I understand, but I'm just saying like it's like it's not that much, just a prefaces. He's starting weight was three or five. Yeah, he has some fuel on his body to burn through, so yeah, he still but he should make it. The fact that there's a listen, there's a reason he was probably three h five, probably ate a lot. Yeah, I mean nothing against Robert Cooper. That's probably you get to three oh five, right, So you know that said your body is used to consuming. Yeah, so I did mine. I just think that in general, the fact that he was like, is willing to risk three thousand to sixty thousand? Like, I just feel like, I don't know. I just I got the sense reading through the tweets when it was kind of being worked out and Kuon was talking about that he's a sure bet to make it, like he's like, anyone want to bet against me, let's go whatever. Like I was like, there's I think there's no way. That was just the sense that I got there was no way. I mean, could you do it if I was straight or five? Maybe, well you couldn't do it right now if you want to do it right, if you were to do it right now, okay, twenty to one, but you have to wager something. What are you wagering I had long to have to do it, four thirty. I get the coffee a bit though, Yeah, you get coffee. Trying to see a coffee for the first two hours upon waking, you can consume electrolytes, salt, and vitamins. That stuff helped. The electrolytes help a lot. Well, no shit, I would bet am I getting twenty to one? Yeah, so like if you bet five hundred dollars, Like, is winning ten thousand dollars really going to push you to do this? I'd probably be like a thousand bucks thousand to win thousand. Kune did say that, like, you know, because of the health stuff, the medical stuff that could happen in this, he's going to be trying to see a doctor. I think he said every week or maybe a couple times a week to go through with it. If it was me, I think I would consult the doctor beforehand see if it was okay, which I'm guessing it would be, and then I would try and Max beet. Yeah, I mean you have a lot more experience than Raub and me doing this, so yeah, I think you have a better chance to do it. Yeah, I mean it's it's interesting. I don't know why I might need to bet more money so it hurts me more, and then I'm more likely to do it. It's also it's also a question of where you are in life. And what I mean by that is like Tim and I and I'm assuming a lot of people out there who are listening. You have families, you have kids. You have to think about that. I mean, I can't just do something that could possibly cause in the most severe case, some death right in a less severe case but still severe long term health implications right now if you're single, you don't have kids. It's a different equation to some extent. Of course, Yes, you want to avoid, you know, the ultimate tragedy of death. You want to avoid any long term health risk, Yes, but you don't have to worry about like doing so for your kids. It's only you type of thing like so, so that would that would come into play for I think someone like you know, you and I and a lot of other people out there, whereas like you know, I can just say that I was a little bit more crazy when I was single and didn't have a lot of responsibilities and to worry about things like you can do whatever you want and it doesn't really matter so much. In a way, you're kind of only hurting yourself, so so that would be part of the equation here. But ultimately, I think Robert Kuon's going to do it again. He's ten days in, he's got to go thirty days total. So I think Sean Deeve is going to be getting some of that money that he won from Bill Perkins for his way loss bet and he's going to be sending it on over to Robert Koon in this bet. So I think it's interesting, and I think again, you know, we're never going to stop hearing about these kind of wacky prop bets coming out of the poker world. I mean, poker people love to bet on everything, so they're always going to find a way. So Robert Kuhne found a way to get twenty one odds on a thirty day water fast and he's often running. He's ten days in, all right. Coming up in a couple of days, what April eighth, we have the US Poker Open eight events, five thousand dollars is the opening buy in. The championship event is a twenty five k. It's gonna be a lot of fun. We are going to be live streaming every final table, plus bonus coverage possibly. Yeah, so there's going to be a lot of What I mean by bonus coverage is it could be some as I keep dropping my ring, could be some day one covers that we're going to be doing. Maybe they skipped the first event well, the second they skipped the first event, who cares, well, what I mean, it's the It's the start of the series, so it means a lot like starting well. Poker Cup we did a five. Okay, we got one hundred and eleven entrants. I was hoping we would get more than that, but I would say maybe somewhere in those same, very similar numbers for poke A Cup. Obviously, we as in the PGT have had a substantial break from Nolanman to hold him last PoCA Good Cup of event finished on February third, so we're basically, you know, two months out since No Limit. I felt like back then in January we kind of had too much stuff going on with Kickoff, Last Chance, the Championship, and the Cup. Now they've had some time rebuild bankrolls. Hopefully they'll will have better numbers than the Polo Cup to kind of push the USPO even further. So yeah, I'm always going to hope for the biggest numbers we can get. Yeah, I mean, listen, I'm pretty bullish on the USPO in general. For whatever reason, I just feel like the turnout is good every single year for this series. I think the majors generally do pretty well, but most importantly from the majors USPO and Poker Masters, which always takes place in the second half of the year. So I know. The third major, at least in terms of a series, is the Poker Rol Cup, but I don't know, I kind of put that as the one b mostly because it's newer than the other. The other one, you know, USPO and Poker Masters are just a bit more established. So yeah, so I'm expecting a pretty big turnouts. You know, I think it will be a good series overall. So yeah, I mean, I I can't wait for it. You know, I'm also kind of happy to I mean, this is not like a knock, although I know it's gonna sound like a knock, but I'm kind of happy to get back to some nolm and hold them. I mean, it's just actually, I mean not that I'm knocking the mixed games in the PLO, but like I want some them to hold them back in my life. So let's go. I don't know why, but I could just get the sense that they were not from around here, but also like not like used to going to Starbucks a lot. I just got that sense the way that they were kind of talking, looking at the menu like whatever you I think most people that go to Starbucks that are regulars, like, don't even look at the menu, you just know your order as you go in. Boom boom, you're out. So they order behind me. I'm standing so first of all, over by the register or over by the pickup area, right where they have at Starbucks. I'm standing like five feet back because a lot of people are kind of coming in and out. There's people that have mobile orders whatever, like you don't want to stand right up against it. There is a woman though, that is standing literally right up against it. She's leaning against it. She looks annoyed, like she just looks upset, annoyed whatever. She's standing there. The barista is doing something for her, like blending a drink and like the aluminum thing. She shows it to the woman. The woman says something, but I can't hear it because of where I am. The barista goes back, blends it some more, does whatever, comes back and shows the lady once again, and the all I hear is the lady say, do I need to come back and do it for you? And I'm like okay, Like what is happening? So the maaris is like like whatever, She like turns around and like you know, she goes back, she blends it more or whatever, and then the lady says something like I'll just take it basically, and so then the lady like puts in the cup and takes it, and then the verisays, then, you know, after that lady leaves, she's kind of complaining that the woman didn't like the consistency of like what she blended and it was this whole thing. So that's happening. So while that's happening, another barista puts a puts a hot drink on the counter and says, whatever it is, you know, blah blah blah. One of the guys that was behind me the line goes up and takes it. Okay, fine. Then the same barista who just dropped off that hot drink goes back to her station, does something, comes out with a cold drink. It looks like my drink, fenti cold. She puts it. I don't know if people know about the Starbucks pickup bery, but they now have little things that have letters. She puts it right the d The other guy of the pair behind me grabs it. She'd Now the woman doesn't say anything. She doesn't say VENTI coldbrew whatever. She doesn't say Donnie, like whatever. She just puts it down. The guy grabs it, and I'm like about to say, excuse me because I'm pretty sure that it's mine, and he just drinks it and he doesn't even he doesn't even look at the label. He just literally picked it up and drink like this is Starbucks raw dogging it as far as I'm concerned, Like, he has no he has no idea, like if like maybe he ordered a Venti cold Brew and that's a cold brew with six sugars in it, Like he has no idea what this is gonna be. He just straight up drinks it, and I'm just like and then he like taps the other guy on the shoulder and they just leave, and I'm just like, well, I think he took my drink, but I don't really know for sure, but I think he took it. So I'm like, Okay, I'll wait another minute and i'll see. So same woman who just dropped off that drink. She comes back out and she puts another cold drink down, venting, she goes Venti eised Americano, and then I go I'm like, yep, he for sure took my drink he probably ordered ventcy ice to Mercano. He just took the colbrew but they're long gone, so whatever. I go up to the register, I say, hey, you know, you know, can you just check on my colder. I think that other guy took it, but I'm not really sure, but whatever, So they get me a new one, like right away. Not a big deal. Now. Later at night, at like eight o'clock, I go to the grocery store. My wife needs some things. I go to the grocery store. I grab a cart. I walk in. First thing when I walk in is it's like the produce section, fruits and whatever. She wants me to get some strawberries and whatnot. So I have like some strawberries. I think I put some potatoes in there, and some avocados in the top part of the cart, you know, like where the kids sit. Yeah, in the top part of the car. Then I'm like, oh, let me go check on something else, which was like ten feet behind me, like not even that far. So I just leave the cart right like to the side of an aisle, up against something like, I suys I'm not going to leave in the middle of an aisle, so I just leave it right there. I go over to check on something. I come back. I'm over there for twenty seconds. I come back. My cart is not where it was, but there's a cart that's about five feet from mine, but like turned at this weird angle, and I'm just like in my head, I'm like, there's no way I left my cart like this, right, I just wouldn't do it. And then I'm like, wait, there's no strawberries and avocado and whatever in it. So I'm like, Okay, what the hell happened? So I'm like looking around, like thirty feet away from me, there's a couple with my cart going through like the deli meat section and just putting deli meats and stuff into my cart, and I'm just like, Okay, clearly they stole my cart, but like I didn't have enough things in there that I was like, whatever, I'm not going to care. But also I'm like their cart that they left that I then took had nothing in it. So you took this cart and you didn't realize you have strawberries, avocados and potatoes in the top part, not like it below or you might not be able to see him. No, you just took this cart started to walk around with it, are completely oblivious to the fact that it was certainly not in the same area as you left your cart, and now you're just putting stuff in it like you don't care, Like I don't understand the thought process behind people to do this. You're justerries. And really, I actually I did pick really good strawberries. I spent a lot of time. And the thing about the fucking avocados, they only had three organic avocados left and I took all three of them, so they took my damn avoca. That's why they took They saw you take the avocado, and like, man, it is absolutely, absolutely positively messing no, because I was like, I'm not going to deal with this, Like it's just awkward, Like what am I still say? You took my car, that's what you said. They're already putting all their stuff in there. Whatever. I'm just like, you know what, I'll just grab another Cardo'll carry on with my day, get your al It was just very weird to me in general that the Starbucks thing happened and the grocery store thing happened in the same day, two similar situations, different venues, different parts of town, but they both happened to me in the same day. In a way, I was thinking, like Ashton Kutcher was going to pop out and say that I was being pranked in bad What is happening in three is Yeah, maybe there was another thing that happened. I did have to sit through that three hour meeting yesterday. Good point. That was it. That was pretty frustrating. But whatever. Anyway back to I don't even know what we were talking. We're about to talk about Texas Technics, Texas Pokerup. Let's go. What do you got. We're going to Texas. We are going to Texas Champions Club. I don't know what that means. Does that mean the main is and my role is maybe he's only playing some cash games. I don't know bet he is coming. I've heard I've heard some other names coming. Ki Chiwi, Osmas, Victoria, Liveshits might be going down. I believe the foction's I've heard it falls at a good time, right, you know, right before WPT Chalk TAW. So you know, you can make kind of that sort of swing hit hit Texas, drive on up to Chalk Taw, play that for the World Poker tourunt They always get a really good turnout for that. Chalktaw events very popular, so, you know, two very good you know, mid mid stakes price points for those events, big guarantees on offer as you mentioned. Then if you're someone who likes to play higher as well, you know, I definitely think it does benefit you in terms of what's being offered on the PGT side. You can grab some points there. There's gonna be a ton of them up for grabs as things go. So so yeah, it's a nice little uh, it's a nice little series. I hope it does very well, you know. I know, we definitely have aspirations of taking the PGT outside of Vegas, outside of the studio, and this is the first step in that direction, our first try at it, you know, our first swing, and it's a it's a fairly big swing with what we're doing here. So maybe this is something where we can replicate it elsewhere. You know, I think I've always thought a PGT type of series could do well in Texas. Yes, but also Florida, I think is a possibility. Possibly somewhere on the east coast, maybe another you know, I'm talking like northeast. You know, it could be another opportunity. So yeah, you know, we'll we'll see how it goes for this first one. But we all, I think we're all very much well aware of how popular and how much growth there has been on the Texas poker scene. So yeah, it's kind of only natural that we try and dip our toes into that area, into that region and really try and grab hold of it. I know that, Yes, it's it's obviously one thing to go down there with lower buying stuff, you know, and that's great, that's all well and good. But I think a lot of these Texas people or people within that region have a lot of money. Man. I think they're willing to blast off. So I think some of these high rollers might be a little bit crazy. And then of course, you know, we'll have daily shows during the summer for the World Series of Poker, which at this point is just going to be here before we know it, because it's just it feels like every day that goes by, we're just we're so much closer than just a day closer, you know. I was, Oh, I mean, I guess quickly. I played the WSB Circuit main events at Horseshoe. What I want to say is that I was in the Normandy Ballroom upstairs on the I guess, the Jubilee side of Horseshoe. So if you're looking at the Hall of Fame poker room that's called which is the regular Horseshoe Casino poker room. If you're looking at it, right to the left you have the Jubilee Theater, and then to the right there is a cafe, and then right to the right of the cafe are two escalators, one up, one down. You go up. That's where you go up to the Normandy Ballroom. There's actually another ballroom above it if you take another set of escalators up. But that first one to the right is where they had the circuit events. And it was nice. I mean, everything that I saw said that they were newly renovated. They looked newly renovated. You know, everything looked updated. The carpets looked nice, et cetera. They had fifty tables in the room that I was in. They had a separate cage in there. They had fifty tables. They had a couple Caesar sportsbooks, kiosks, they had a couple of massage chairs, et cetera. So that's where I believe that they said they're going to be putting the deep Sacks tournaments during the WSOP. I'm talking about the daily Deep Sacks, not the you know, the bracelet events, but the daily Deep Sacks and then also the satellites. So it's quite separate from you know, the main horseshoe area for the tournaments and then also Paris, but it's it's a nice little space that those people are going to have. There is also a hotel tower right there and the elevators excuse me, come down like right onto that floor. You can get off and walk right there. So if you're a guy who comes out and you want to fire, you know, a handful of daily Detach tournaments play some satellites, et cetera. I would say, and you're going to stay at the Horseshoe, try and book that tower because then it's just quick up and down. It's right there. So it was very nice over there. I was pleasantly surprised. You know, last year when they had the circuit event at the Horseshoe in Vegas, it was on the main casino floor in the middle of the smoke. It was a giant pain for those of us trying to play. The smoke was just way too much. You had all the noise, the music from the people playing slot machines and all that sort of stuff. But not this time. Is a very good area up there, kind of set away from everything. You got your own little space to play. And again they crammed fifty tables into that place, so I counted them up, so that's quite a lot of tables.
