This place has been an absolute madhouse all over the place to say, there's the seniors everywhere. Yeah, record setting field and the ten k PLO Championship. He had to go do a lap at Speed Vegas in like a Ferrari or whatever kind of fast causes is right by my house, Oh it is, And there was like ten people competing and the person that had the fastest lap would win a seat in the main event. And this was this was basically being run like the bens Beans or something that I don't really know much about it, but I've seen him pop up on social media. Ok, he's run some other contests, but he was doing this one. John, who is a podcast listener, was part of it. And this tweet came across across our feed. It was just like the no gam will no future you know card protector and he said, I just want to see to the main event. Because I think he meant to say because I flipped a no gam on no Future coin The more investigating I did was it seems like him and someone else tired for the fastest lap. So they did a coin flip, and someone at the racetrack had the card protector. One side says poker, one sided says, no gam on a future. I'm watching a video and all right, Will Jaffee's there. That's probably why I say. John flips the coin and calls John the the guy that the father the girl from. He flips the coin, calls no gam on no future. It lands no gam on the future. Now he is in the WSP main event. So what are you picking? No? If I turn around, if it lands on the pictures up? Okay, all right, we're all here watching here, here we go. We got that t y. Chief among the headlines fifty thousand dollars Poker Players Championship Brian Rast winning his third PPC title his sixth WSP goal bracelets. He topped to the field of ninety nine entries to take home more than one point three million dollars. Rast was pumped up afterwards, yelling let's eff and go on the stage getting pumped up. He got emotional in his post win interview with Natalie Body when he was talking about his wife who is not with him. She's in Brazil and he's here, but he's still felt a very strong connection. When we get into the interview that we did with him, he'll talk a little bit about that as well. So there's all that he won a bunch of money in a crossbook. I guess as well, him and his buddy David Openheim. Oh he so he I thought you said just it was just outs well, according to Rast, which you guys will hear in the interview, he Openheim cross booked Rass against a bunch of high stakes people. But then he also gave Rast a piece, so he gets he gets some money. Brian Rast has six gold racelets now two thousand and eleven he won two. He won the fifteen hundred dollars pot Limit hold Him. He also won the fifty k PPC that year. Then five year gap twenty and sixteen, he wins the fifty k PPC again for his second PPC title and his third gold race. At two eighteen, he won the ten kate no limit deuced seven single draw. In two twenty one he won the three thousand dollars six Max Nolan hold him. And then this year twenty twenty three, he wins the fifty thousand dollars Poker Players Championship. Let's just get into the interview with Brian Rass. It's a little bit of a longer one. It's probably I don't know, twelve minutes or so overall, but Rass spoke to length about you know, what this wind means to him, how he feels, the Poker Hall of Fame, the cross book, I mean, really everything we try to touch on. So here is that interview right now with Brian Rass. All right, Brian Rass, just one year six gold bracelet, third in the PPC. You obviously have a very illustrious career, high stakes cash game legend. I think there was little doubt before and now many would say there's probably no doubt. But I have to ask the question, are you a Poker Hall of Famer? I mean, listen, I have my opinion, but the truth is is the people that vote on ear in the Hall of Fame, So what I think doesn't matter. You know, MY job is to come to the poker table and play when I want to and compete, and we'll let the people in the Poker Hall of Fame make that decision. And you know, I just keep doing what I do and we'll see what they say. We've seen you in many times here at the World Series of Poker before this one, it seems like you have a little bit more personality. It's a little bit more emotional. Can you speak to what this one specifically means to you? Yeah, I don't know. I I've been emotional after some other wins before. I mean the most emotional maybe it was after I won my first PPC, which was like my first major tournament I ever won. Maybe a little more emotional after this one than the second one. I don't know, this one just you know, it just it just meant a lot. Like I'd say, in like sixteen, seventeen and eighteen, like I was playing everything all the time. Maybe I've been playing a little bit like the Bobby's Room mix game doesn't go regularly. You know, I'm not playing quite as much maybe as I was before. So from that perspective, in fact, if anything, I treat the World Series a little different. Like I'm here, I'm playing w so PE tournaments like every day, Like I'm not even really playing cash. So I just have like a slightly maybe just different perspective only because I'm treating poker a little bit differently. So it just was really gratifying. Okay, like this year, last year my focus was like tournaments. So but it's nice coming in saying okay, like this is you know this is what I'm doing this summer and then and having it work out. Yeah, So I don't know, it's they're all satisfy. I don't know. The thing is like maybe as I've gotten a little bit older, I've kind of learned like you really have to enjoy it when things work out, because it doesn't happen, you know, all the time like this, this happens. But then there's like the you know, twenty other ones I've or fifteen other ones or whatever it is that I played this year where you know, I mean I should I only cashed like two other times. You know, I made the twenty five K final table, but so many of them was like day two and out, day two and out, day two and out, you know, two fifty k, like out late day one, and you're like, oh, okay, okay, and it just tournament poker can be tough like that because emotionally it's it's like so much failure with some like moderate success and then like the very occasional, like big time success. And I've just gotten to a point in my life where I realized, listen, man, like okay, when it works out, just fucking enjoy it. Speaking about this emission. Is it more about happiness, is it more about a relief or is it proud? How would you describe the emotion you've had. There's all of that in their happiness, some relief that not that much, some pride also just like I don't know, even though my wife is in Brazil right now, just just the connection I had with her during this was was very strong. And just the way I was like sending her a message on every break, you know, she was like, keep the WiFi, the Wi fi strong, it's trust me, you need to do it in this one and so you know, I don't know, I don't know what it is. But then just so you know, I'm doing it every time. And it's just it's weird because in a number of the big tournaments where I've won, it's kind of like sort of been the case. I mean, in like the five hundred, the first Super High Roller Bowl, my wife had given me this like mantra, and first she came there on day one, which almost never happens, and like with a shirt with a couple of her friends like go rest, and then she gave I had this mantra for Santa Sarah, a collie like saints. It's like a saint but it's in Portuguese and just you know, it's like this mantra. It was like a three minute long thing and I was listening to it on every break, and you know, so I don't know what it is. And it's not like I do this for every tournament. I probably don't do it for for most of them, I don't do anything like this. So it's just so weird that, you know, some of the times in my life where it's worked out, it's like I've been like the most connected to my wife during a tournament. So I mean that was pretty emotional for me too. Yeah, And the Poker Hall of Fame nominations came out today before the final day of this tournament. Of course your name was on the list, so pretty good timing for that. Did that motivate you heading into today? Heading into today today? No, because let me break it down for you, when you're going to play something. When I'm showing up today, any thoughts involving ego are only going to get in my way at the poker table, Like what is this going to mean for my career? You know, what, what what do I going to do with this? Money. What, like, what is it going to mean for the Poker Hall of Fame? I mean, how that's actually it's never gonna help me play, and it's probably gonna make me play worse. So all that stuff no today didn't motivate me at all. In fact, I just cleared all that nonsense out. You know, these are questions for before and after the tournament. When I'm not playing. I will say that making the Poker Hall of Fame did motivate me coming into this w sope, and it's part of the reason why I've decided to play a full slate of tournaments, because I feel like that's more noticeable. I mean, you know, if I'm being honest from a cash game perspective, there's really like not that many people who have Like I played the biggest cash a no limit games in my cow. I played the biggest cash PLO games, you know, years ago in the WSP. I played some of the biggest full tilt games back in the day. Maybe I didn't have as much success as guys like galfonder Due, but like I won money in it. Like I've played the biggest tournaments in the world, and they're you know, maybe I'm not really doing that as much anymore, But there was a stretch in the two tho tens when I was doing that and I was winning. And you know, now I come and play all the tournaments to the WSP and even like I didn't win a bracelet last year, but I had three final tables, So you know, I just think like what I've done speaks for itself. With the people on the Hall of Fame think about it, it's on them. So I just keep going and doing my thing, and people like it, they'll vote me, and if people don't, they'll vote for someone else. During those five days of tournaments, you better lo again is the greatest player of all the means game. Did you have a particular strategy on how did you manage to make the difference against against this clear against some of the very best guys. I wouldn't say there's oftentimes there's not too much exploitative or particular that you can really do. I think that comes into play a little bit more when you're playing people that I would say, like, make more mistakes, because at the end of the day, that's what exploitive poker is trying to do, is take advantage of them. So it's so maybe yes, but not really. Yes, it comes involved, but not as much with what you're thinking. You know, I'd say the biggest thing that I was just really trying to do during this tournament, and I do think I made some headway with it is you know, it takes a lot of concentration, but like really watching a lot of hands, like even when I'm not in it, trying to pick up reads on people. And you know, I do think that there were a number of times throughout this tournament that and even against some of the world's best players, I felt very comfortable with a lot of my reads and and I'd say that helped. But but strategically speaking, part of what makes the players so great oftentimes is there aren't a lot of adjustments you can make, like because you're not going to really be able to exploit them because they're playing a very strong, solid style of poker. Right. Yeah, You've been pretty clear in recent years about your goal to ultimately make the Poker Hall of Fame? Is that an end goal? Like? Well, what comes after that? I'm gonna play poker the rest of my life. I love this game. You know, there were a couple of years there a few years ago where I thought, oh, maybe I'm going to be a trader and do that more. But I actually don't like that lifestyle very much. Like actually not that I probably will probably will never play poker quite as hardcore as I did earlier in my career when I was a monster, but I'm always I'm always going to play. There's just something about Okay, well at least about the trading and poker thing. It's like, I don't really ever want a job where I have to just be like on all the time. That's kind of like why I got into poker, Like poker has this thing where you're playing, but then like if you step away for two weeks, like it doesn't matter, so you're off, you're off, and you're on, and I like that, And you know, I just don't want, like I don't want to run a company. It's done interesting to me. You have to always have this like unending list of fucking things you have to do every day, and or trading, like you have to follow the news every day and like manage your positions. And I've just come to find that a lot of those things just in life give me more anxiety. And I'm lucky enough that kind of I think maybe I'm good enough at poker to keep on making money doing it and investing that money, and you know, hopefully that'll continue. So what am I going to do. I'm going to keep playing. And for me, the World Series of Poker has kind of become my favorite thing. And why is that? Because I play all the games and you know, I mean it's unfortunately, you know, I actually think it's kind of was bad for me that poker became starting to become solved, because I actually think I was relatively better before people got answers from solvers. But um, you know, I've accepted that and dealt with an Actually, my no limit game in the last couple of years has made a lot of strides because I've worked on it some. But um, but yeah, it's never gonna be like eight, eight or nine years ago in everything. But but I'll always play. And if anything, I love the World Series because you come here and you play all the games. You know, at this point, probably a tournament like this or like the Dealer's Choice, they're like my strongest event because there's just nowhere to hide. Like I believe that I can play every game at a very high level. Obviously some I'm better at than others, and you know, and and but like I think one of my strengths is just my all around game, my like sort of understanding of poker in general and every game and whether that's a limit or eve, especially in big bet so um stuff like this or Dealer's Choice or whatever. Yeah, and I mean you really only find tournaments like that here at the w SOP right, So for me, it's just a combination of sort of how the poker world feels about it. It being this cool six weeks where I can come and just like go back, go back to school, get back in the grind, you know, like it's kind of fun to do that. It's almost like like I love my wife, but almost like being on my own for that because like you know what I mean, it's like I'm playing all day and then I just go home and I need my little online time and this, and it's like, you know whatever, I'm probably slightly aspies, so I like need you know, I like my own my mind time sometimes. So but yeah, I love the WSP all right. I just have one more question. Who was crazy enough to cross book you? And how does that feel? I mean, wow, should I give details on this? Yeah, I mean I guess, I'm guess some it's some high stakes, high stakes players that will at this moment go nameless. But uh yeah, I don't like their don't like their side of the bet. So that actually wasn't with me, but the bet was with David Oppenheim, and you know, he gives me a quarter of it, you know, keep me motivated. It must be pretty sweet to come out come out on top of that for both of you. Andy. Yeah, and you know, the actual really funny thing is in twenty sixteen, which was the last time I won this, I had that actually ended up being my biggest tournament win because I mean, you know, like in the five hundred, I sold whatever, but like, uh, not only did I have all of myself, but I had a lot extra in that one. I felt very insulted when TIMEX came out with his sheet of like he like basically you know how he has this thing and everybody could bet on his market. Like I'm sitting there, like, first, I play a lot of tournaments and then you hadn't been in Bobby's room a long time then. But I've been playing and I've even been winning, and it's like everybody in Bobby's rooms like one point three, one point four, one point five, and I'm like one point two, no TIMEX, you give me the max that you want whatever, how was much you buy? Cut me off. And then these other guys were drafting their teams and I wasn't on either one of those teams. And the guy who I thought had the worst team, I'm like, book me against all your team and since you didn't, nobody drafted me, everybody in your team must be better. So I want five cents juice my way. So so yeah, yeah, and my my favorite guy, Antonio had a piece of all those two because you know I don't. He's my guy. Arrass defeated to Lalsha Kirchy and heads up play. Matthew Ashton, another former champion in this event, finished in third place. You had James Opps taking fourth, Christopher Tong took fifth. Those are the final five players that came back today on Thursday to play to a winner. Last night, If you guys were watching on the YouTube stream that I was commentating on alongside Kevin Gerhardt, phil Ivey basically bubbled the poker goal live stream. He bubbled day five, when he finished in sixth place. Phil Ivey still took home two hundred twenty eight thousand dollars. But I think he did it on purpose. You think he did it on purpose. He didn't want to be on TV. He was already on a stream though, so real TV. He was like, I'm not I'm had enough, I've had my share. I'm good, I'm out got it. Top fifteen players from the ninety nine player field cash in this event. Also in the money was Phil Hellmuth he finished fourteenth, John Minette, who won a bracelet earlier this series, He finished fifteenth, and then John Minette cashing for the first time in the fifty KPPC about twelve attempts. I think yeah, one of the best mixed game players out there in the world finally landed himself in the money. But of course Brian rast taking it all down his third PPC title, his sixth overall braces Do you think he's in the Hall of fame? Okay? Question did you think he was in the Hall of fame before this? I? Yes, and I was. I was. It was a it was a soft yest, okay, because it could have been a couple of other candidates, I think, um, but now with this and voting still open for the eligible members, I think, you know, maybe it's a recency bias. It's obviously deserving, but I think he would probably get in this year. Yeah. I mean, it's gonna be really interesting to see if if that that recency bias, because pretty much right now is when they announced the Poker Hall of Fame candidates YEA for this year, and then kind of coincidentally, Brian rast goes on to win number six, and not only is it his sixth goal bracelet, it's fifth DKPPC and it's his third fifty KPPC, so it holds a lot of weight. The Poker Hall of Fame candidates that were announced were Josh Arier. He won his fifth gold bracelet earlier at the World Series of Poker. This year, he won the ten K limit Hold Him Championship. Jeremy Osmas. Speaking of timely, Jeremy Osmins just won his sixth WSP Goal Races. He won the thirty two hundred dollars online events last night. You've got ted Forrest, Kathy Leebert, Mike Mattisow, Mike the Mouth, Mattisow, you have lawn McCarron slash Norman Chad. That's a duo. Then you have Brian Rass, who we've talked about, you have Matt Savage, you have e Si Sheinberg, and you have nineteen eighty five top main event champion in Bill Smith. Is it only one? Are we still doing the whole one thing? Look? I want to say that I think all everyone that's going to ever be on these lists, ninety nine percent of the time, they should be in the Hall of Fame, right Like it's hot to argue against Josh Jeremy, Ted Farres, Kathy Leeman, all these guys. But the fact is, if we're only putting one in every year, people are gonna get people are gonna miss out. You think of all the people coming up, all the younger guys that are, you know, in the late thirties getting into their forties, Jason Mercier, Sean Deeve, the list goes on and on. If we are only putting one in every year, we're never gonna get everyone in. Yeah, So let's say how many are on this list? One, two, five, Okay, so there's ten on the seven and a half. Let's say five of this list are gonna get in. I'm just picking a number, picking a half. Five are gonna get in eventually right of this list, yes, that we have in front of us. That means if they stick to the one per year, that means five years the next five years are is somebody from this list, And as you mentioned, we have so so so many more names. And then let's say, like, you know, we get three years down the road, well by that time, Sean Deep's gonna have twelve bracelets. I mean, you know, it's like it's like it just gets crazy. So yeah, I think the format probably needs some sort of adjustment because I think a ton of players are deserving or at least should be in the conversation, you know, for being in the Poker Hall of Fame. I think they should be listed on the candidates list. So yeah, I mean you should probably probably the best thing is to go to some sort of like voting format, however you want to do it where it can it can be. It could be possibly one a year, it could be eight a year. Like if if like enough people get enough votes or points or however you want to do it, and they pass the threshold, then then they're all in. But maybe it's only one person that year, so yes, maybe the list one year is like phil Ivey, Tim Duckworth and Donny Peters. Well yeah, okay, we're definitely not getting in. But feel I think it's all the votes, so he's in, you know, So it's like that's how it shakes out that year. But another year, if it's Brian rast Um, Mike mattisow EASTI she Sheinberg, maybe all three of those guys get in, you know, like that sort of thing. So it's kind of tricky. Sounds like you're leaning towards like the Baseball Hall of Fame. Yeah, I mean I don't. I also don't fully know if the Baseball Hall of Fame model is correct. I would probably try and look at all the Hall of Fame models out there and then kind of go from there, like like use that as a baseline, and then still like Bill Joe, and I wouldn't just say like, oh, let's do it like this. I would. I would do it kind of like it, but I would also probably change it a little ways. I don't know. I just think it's interesting overall, and I think that there's a lot of backlog that's gonna be had here. We've been talking about the backlog for several years. That's no secret, of course, so we'll see how this goes. I do want to touch on Jeremy Osmas because he just won his six goal bracelet. I mean, I feel like he has the weirdest collection of bracelets in the history of bracelets. Yeah, I mean, they're all over the place. So he won his first goal bracelet. In twenty thirteen, he wins the sixteen hundred and fifty euro pot limon Omahaven at WP Euro or WP Euro he wins seventy thousand euros. Then there is a big gap. He doesn't win any anything until twenty twenty one at the World Series of Poker. Obviously has had success, but doesn't win anything. The event he wins is the one thousand dollars COVID nineteen Relief Charity Poker Tournament, and he wins forty eight thousand dollars. I don't know if you remember this, but I remember. I think what you're gonna say, I think after this wine, he dust set off two bullets in the opening event twenty five k, which was like event three on the schedule. So this even though he could win a bracelet, he would still be stuck for the series. Two days in he said, yeah, he like tweeted something like I'm the only guy who won a bracelet and is still down for the summer or something like that, because he was still down to two thousand dollars or whatever it was. Um, so that's kind of a it's kind of a fun like like he's like, no one else is ever gonna win that bracelet, because that's that's I mean, unless we have another COVID nineteen pandemic, which I'm guessing we're not gonna have. Um, but you know that's crazy. Then that same summer twenty twenty one, he wins the fifty k PLLO high Roller for almost one point two million dollars, So like on the compleat opposite side of the spectrum, which is just why the two faces that are on Poker's Mount Rushmall. He beat David mcgrano, finished third in film Holme with. Then twenty twenty two, he wins three thousand dollars six max and I'm not going to say no limit hold him because he won the limit in a tournament that he was like, why did I play that type of thing? Like that? Was kind of the you know, and then you're playing it, then you go deep. And then obviously Jeremy's firing a lot of stuff here and there, and he had to miss some events because he's stuck in this event. Ultimately he goes on to win it. So he wins that one for one hundred and forty two thousand dollars. Then this year, well where's it? Are you missing the online one? Oh? Then he won the online one? What was that? It was like a four dollar buy in something like that. It was like a super small buy and part of the September Online series. Yes, yes, that's why it's not um, that's why I'm not finding it here. Uh, here we go. H the twenty twenty two to Be Online Us to Mestic That was Nevada and New Jersey. He won the three hundred and sixty five three hundred and sixty five dollars buying Sorry, I can't speak, no limit hold him event for fifty one thousand dollars. So again, kind of like quirky in a weird way because it's an online event, so it obviously gets a lot of runners. But yeah, you know, some people look at online bracelets differently. He only won fifty one thousand dollars. You know, it's kind of like, what is this type of thing? And then of course he wins another online gold bracelet that this this was the one that he won last night, thirty two hundred dollars No Limit hold Him high Roller here as part of the twenty twenty three World Series Broker. He takes home three hundred and sixty thousand dollars for that one. So his braces are all over the place. I mean, the next year he'll probably win the fifteen hundred dollars Badoogie or like the Stott something, it would be something. I mean, the whole thing is like wild, you know. And then this this year he's at the final table one hundred k Yeah, you know, he's running deep in some other stuff. I mean, it's just it's kind of just he's got a very wacky kind of umusp resume, which is interesting. Josh, he's well rounded, I think as well. Yeah, yeah, I know, it's just kind of funny. That's it's kind of broken out that that way. Um, Josh Area has five bracelets, Ted Forrest has how many six fours? Right? Wait? He Forrest won three in a year. Yeah, I think, yeah, he's one of how many people have won three in a year, like four or five? Not too many, like not a lot. Um. So yeah, so Ted Forrest, I feel like Ted Forrest. I mean, yeah, he has six school bracelets. Yeah I was thought that, but he also has a w p T title he won. The three that he won were in nineteen ninety three. He also won two in two thousand and four. Ted Forrest feels like a guy who should have been in already. Kathy Liebert Um, one of the best female players in the game, has been around for a while, you know, continues to do it. Um. I would have guessed that she might have already been in at times, or at least up for being a candidate. You know, she could be another one of those where is she gonna get in? I don't know, But if she doesn't get in, let's say this year, next year, like is she ever gonna get in? Type of thing? Um. Mike mattis Out also feels like someone to me kind of in the same sort of venist head forest, like, shouldn't he have already been in you know, So that that's another one. Lawn McCarron and Norman Chad are on there as well. They're non players. I mean they play, but you know they're on here as non players. Brian Rass, We've already talked about him a lot. Matt Savage on here obviously, tournament director of Tournament Directors Association, all that sort of stuff. E Sei Sheinberg, founder of Poker Stars. You know, if you've been listening to me on podcast for He's Young Night ever since I've been in Pogra, I will I will pound the drum for um East Eis Sheinberg to be in the Hall of Fame. I just think that his contributions for what he did and how he you know, basically drove the industry in in one sort of direction. Um, you know, he deserves to be in there. And then Bill Smith, I mean I personally can't comment on because I don't know Bill Smith or anything like that. I mean, he was much before my time in poker, So that one's hard for me, and that one's gonna be one where the members of the Hall of Fame who vote on this. You know, they're going to have to decide. Maybe we'll talk to Maury, Yeah, we'll talk to Maury. You know. Personally, from this list, I think it's gonna be probably one of you know, Brian Rass, Jeremy Osmus or Josh Are that will get in this yere I think whoever's left off from those three will you know, we'll get in the next you know, next couple of years. I unfortunately think that that Ted Forrest, Kathy Leeban, Mike Mattasou. Maybe their chance is of just cause of the stuff we've touched on with, you know, all these up and comers, and that's I kind of view the same way with you know, Matt Lawn Norman and two an Extendisi. So kind of sucks for these guys. I think they should all be in. I just just I'm just not sure they're going to get in, and it's kind of sad. Yeah. I think her name like Patrick Antonius should be on the list. I think a name like Daniel Lahy should be on the list. Um, Michael ms Rocky is probably he was on it last year, right, I think, Yeah, So I don't know. I don't exactly understand how, Like like Mike Michael miz Rocky, I think is a good example, Like if he was on it last year, then why isn't he on it? You have to write in But I don't not really understand that, like how is he? Like I don't you know what I mean? Like if you're writing who you think should be on it, and then this list is compiled, it goes to the current Hall of Fame members that are alive, and I believe they do like a it's either like a three two one voting system or something like they have ten points and you can give a point to anyone you want, So you could give all ten to Kathy, you could give eight to Ted Forrest and two to Mike Mattasaw. I believe that might be the way they do it. But this is definitely a probably a more topic if he's even allowed to talk about the uh the voting system all yeah, I mean, I'm curious what the current Poker Hall of Famers think, what they think of the idea of the backlog, you know, what people coming up that sort of thing, Like you know, if if you're a voting member and you had your choice, who would you put in this year? If there was no limit on how many people you could put in? You know, obviously they have to meet the criteria. I'm not just saying put your buddies in or whatever, like I'm saying, actually, like put people in, yeah, but without the fact that you can do just one, Like who would you put in? I would like to hear, you know, from this list, not necessarily from this list, because like, what if you want to put in a Patrick Antonius, who I think is very deserving. What if I think he's why because he doesn't have a bracelet? Yeah? Come on, he's an absolute crusher. Look, he's been doing it for so long. He crushed online crushes live like high stakes cash. If if I was really thinking about it, if I was voting member and I was looking at this list and everything else, you know, I'm obviously I'm probably leaning on always older people, you know, Like so when I say older, I mean older relative to the to being eligible. So I personally would want to put it in possibly Ted forres Mike Mattis how you know, I think Laan and Norman should get into, you know. And then if we're really thinking of this as a none, I think the whole the Hall of Fame is a bad rap that it's very just WSAP specific, and it's not supposed to be, but it is, and it's connected to WSP. They own it. So it's hard for me to justify that is I will ever get in. But if we had a real Hall of Fame that was not linked to any tour or media outlet or company, I'm pretty sure is I would be a snap snap in there. Yeah you know, I mean, listen, no Hall of Fame. I don't care if it's basketball, baseball, poker, cricket. Whatever it is is perfect by you know, by any means, and we're always going to debate them and talk about them. But yeah, you know, we're just gonna have to sit here and watch to see who gets in. Let's I guess, let's give let's give guesses who we think is gonna get in. This is not who we would put in. That's how we're gonna do it. I'm gonna go with Brian Rast. I'm gonna give you a three two one. And And why I'm saying that is because after he won, David Oppenhei was on the rail and Brian Rast made a comment about the Hall of Fame, and David Oppenheim said like you're already a Hall of Famer or something. So I feel like David Oppenheim's vote is going towards Brian Rast. I um, I think because of what just happened, Brian Rast would be my first choice. Second choice would be Osmas just because of his recent sixth price, third would be Aria, and then everyone can be tied for fourth. Who would you like to see get in though? Because this list? Yes, I mean right Schier, Yeah, mine's always EASTI Sheinberg Kia would like to see madis out get in. He's here grinding, he's out here of lugging, he's trying to adjust to the time. I mean, I kind of I kind of just totally disregard like the Matisow of the last ten years. That said, I think the Matisow before was massive, ye, one of the best winning bracelets, like always a contender, like in all that sort of stuff. Okay, you can't necessarily judge someone's career based on like the the part of their career when they're playing when the game might have passed them by. And like if an athlete plays till he's like fifty years old, well and he can't keep up with it, but he's just on the team, is like some token individual to be on the team, Like are you really going to what if he was the greatest athlete of all time? Is Michael Jordan not going to get in the Hall of Fame because he sucked with the Wizards and he's a horrible owner? Like no, Like Michael Jordan was the best basketball player of all time or arguably the best basketball player of all time. It's like, you know, yeah, these people fall off, Like that's understandable, but like what did they do? You know, at their height? How long was it? You know, how does it match up against others? Moving on here to the one thousand dollars Seniors Championship. Last year seven thousand, one hundred and eighty eight entries. This year they're over seventy nine hundred. I'm still growing. Wait, it's still open. It's not confirmed yet. Dinner break just finished, got it. Registration is now ending. But wouldn't we have a phicial numbs for a little while. They had three thousand, six hundred ninety two on Day one A. They had more than forty two hundred on Day one B. That would beat every single pre twenty twelve field in this tournament. I mean, that's just the seniors event is bananas absolute To play the seniors event, A lot of people can't a lot of people like I feel the same way as you. I know a lot of people that are like excited for I think a lot of people first kind of looked at it like I don't care about that, but it looks like one of the most fun events. I think the ladies event looks pretty fun overall. I think the senior event looks pretty fun overall. Super Seniors is not so sure. That might be a little bit too old for my taste them, but they still look like they're having fun out there, and I'm sure I'll get excited about that one as well. Ten thousand dollars PLO Championship, seven hundred and thirty one entry is a record setting turnout in this event. They are down to it looks like one hundred and thirteen one hundred and ten pay. They are on dinner break right now, so we won't have a really solid update for you, but you know, we'll have more on this as it goes. Tomorrow is going to be Day three, and then day four is going to be the final table. Tomorrow is gonna be streaming. We're gonna be doing some secondary streaming on the YouTube channel correct, and then we'll do the final table. It's gonna be on poker grow. I mean, I hope so. So last year this event had six hundred and eighty three entries, so they're up to seven thirty one this year. Last year was Sean Trowhat winning almost one point two five million dollars. This year there's more than one point three million dollars for the win. As I said, it's just a few spots off the money on the dinner break. Sam's overall looks like he's leading the way. You had the one thousand dollar tag team event kicking off as well, and this is I guess where team and I are going to get into what happened today. So we buy in. Yep, we sit down. I let you play first. You let me be captain first of all. First of all, yes, I let you be captain. I don't want to deal with it that said you as captain. You were a horrible captain because you told us you thought the event started too started new Thank god, thank god I figured that out on yesterday's podcast. Um, then we get told that I have to show up on time. Both of us have to check in. I could have slept a couple of extra hours. So that was annoying. So there's that. I mean, I wish you could have squared all this away from me. I'm sorry, captain, I know it. Next ya you're captain. Yeah, that's right. So we sit down, we start playing. We have Ronnie Barda at our table. Um, I think he was the only one all Larry Wright was there, but he played like two hands and then left. He was playing day one day of the seniors. Okay, so the rules are with the tag team event teams of two. It used to be you could do two, three or four. Now it's just two, two and two only. Um, you both have to register together, you show up, you play the same stack. You can sub it or out whenever you want. There are no breaks in this tournament whatsoever. I, well, there's only got some some color up breaks. We didn't make it to that point, so we didn't even know how long those would have lasted. Um, you start with twenty k blinds are one hundred one with a one hundred big blind anti our levels structure seems way too good. Honestly, they should have made it thirty minute levels and just get these people in and out. Let's go. I mean, what are we doing? Um, each person on your team has to play the blinds before registration closes, so like I would have to sit down and like play my big blind and my small blind, and then I can go and do whatever I want and Tim can play the rest of the tournament. Yeah, for all week care But we switched out out a bunch of times, probably three or four times. Were you to switch in and you're like already, I was like yeah, yeah, well I was thinking I was thinking we were gonna play like, you know, because levels were an hour. You play a level, I play a level, like we go back and forth like that. It's a nice you know, nice solid time. I think I think you sad for like fifty minutes or so, and then I subbed in proceeded to bluff off half of our chips. You actually texted in the chat like I'm down to d and I was doing some work. I was like, I'm running over because I want to play at least a couple more hands before you bluff. Let me see if I can find the text message of what I think it was, something along the lines of like down to Tim would be mad or something like that. Well, my first hint, nothing really happened. I lost I think fifteen hundred and chips before tagging you in with all the confidence in the world that you're gonna run ask stack cop. Yeah, then I sit down. Larry Wright tags in with his teammate Larry Wright opening to four x every hand, like literally every hand. He was just playing every hand, his partners standing there on the rail like and then Larry they were seat one, we were we were three, yes, ye yeah. So then so he tags Larry out and whatever the guy. The guy sits down. He got half his chips from what he started with, and like the table's joking like, oh they they called you in to stop the bleeding. The guy's like, yeah, you know, I mean, Larry's is out there to blast whatever. I lose a couple of pots, just calling some raises whatever. Nothing crazy. Um. Then I decided to this this gentleman who I guess played soccer with us. Yeah, he sits down and I'm immediately I'm like, I knew this guy was gonna three at me. I just knew it. I was like, this guy looks like he's gonna three bet me. As soon as I open I opened the cut off. He three bets a small blind. I have the king five off. I mean, I'm not going anywhere, so I four bet. He calls. I'm like, this is going, well, Tim's gonna hate me. It comes. It comes, queen Queen four with two spades. I don't have a spade. He checks. I bet like twenty to twenty five percent pot. He calls, Okay, I'm done with the hand. The turn is whatever, rivers whatever. He ends up showing me two seven. So he was obviously never folding to me in a million years. So at least I didn't go totally broke on that hand. So then I'm down to ninety three hundred then I doubled through a woman. I opened Ace Queen of Diamonds. She called in position it was King Queen nine with two diamonds. Again, I have Ace Queen of Diamonds. I bet pretty small. She calls, turn is a nine pairing the board. I bet pretty small again, kind of making sure that I can see the river here, Like I don't want to check and have her just like because she did earlier. She a couple of hands before she like checked jammed the flop like she checked the guy about a thousand. She jammed all for like twenty K. I just didn't think that she had any sort of bearing on bet sizing, so I figured if I checked to her, she might just like put some outlandish bet sizing in that I just can't call. And I'm like, I want to see the river with my hand even if she has a king. So I bet pretty small. She calls rivers a seven of diamonds. I overbet jam. She calls, um, she only showed a king. Um so so yeah, but um that was that? So that doubles us up. So we're back to like starting stack just about chip up a little bit more to like twenty five k. Then the craziness happens. No, you actually stubbed me in for a while. Yeah, well then I stubbed you in for a while nothing. I three. No, you got us up to like twenty two yeah, and then I got us up to like twenty five yeah, and then like the craziness happened. So Stephen Lennard sits down. Austrian guy. He won the three K no Limit hold him last year REMCO, and I did secondary stream commentary for that. Very good player. He played extremely well. He's paired with his girlfriend, Jessica Toso Tysol. Sorry I'm probably butchering the last name, but sorry, Jessica. So she's paired with her Jessica one. She finished I think it was eighth in the Monster Stack last year and won the Ladies Events the Ladies Event Remcoin. I did commentary on that, so I have a good idea of how they play having done that commentary. And they're also very good players, like they play extremely well. So they're there. Ronnie Barter is there. We gotta tell the Ronnie story as well. By the way, we'll tell that, I guess afterwards that nonsense. The very first Ronnie story. Yeah, the first Ronnie story so so she sits down after he plays like a couple of hands Stephan does and then he goes and does whatever. She sits down, she opens under the gun on a hand. It folds to me on the button. I looked down at two aces, I raised three bet. I thought about just flatting because my boy, the three better guy was in the same Chris whatever was in the big blonds. I was like, maybe he's gonna get crazy again. But whatever, I'll just playing hand more face up, No big deal. I three bet. She folds, Okay, what was it? Two? Was it? Next hand? Yes? Next nextand folds to me in the cut off high open King seven off. She three bets the big blind ye yep, I'm thinking, and she's got like I think she had like right around ten k behind, And I was like, I should I think she had right on ten k behind. I think she had five yellows, one five K chip and then like a purple ok And I was like, I should just jam this in her face, Like this just seems like a good spot to just jam in her face with the you know, the King seven blocking some premiums. Let's go. I know you're behind me. I'm like Okay, I don't have to do that. Let's just let's just chill. But then I give a story. I'm like, you know, because he's standing here, he's my partner. I don't want to look like an idiot. I'm just gonna fold. Ronnie looks at me and he goes, would you have Ace Jack? I said, I go, no, I didn't have a Jack. King seven. Yeah. Jessica looks at me and goes, King seven, it's gonna be like that. I was like, yeah, well, I know you're good, so you know, I gotta you know, I might have to do some things here, you know. So we're laughing back and forth whatever the whole thing is happening. You know, everyone's kind of laughing because I was saying I have King seven and all this sort of stuff, and I really did have King seven. I don't know if they believe me or not, but I had King seven. A couple hands to go by. I opened under the gun. Everyone fold or sorry under the GUNP plus one? Everyone folds, next hand. I get ace King suited space beautiful under the gun open folds to the button. Three bets me. I'm like, oh, here we go. This is perfect. This is great folds back to me. I'm thinking a little bit. I'm like, should I just should I do the four bet? Should I just jam it in? I thought that my chance for him to put the money in lighter was better if I just stuck it all in, which is a bit of an overshove, I understand. I thought if I four bet, he would do a lot of he would probably fold all of his air. I didn't think that this guy would probably like five bet jam some weaker hands. So I was like, I think it's I think I have a better chance of getting him to call all in in knowing all the nonsense that just happened with like me and the King seven and all this talk and blah blah blah. So that's why I did what I did. I moved all in. He snaps me off with two aces. It comes, it comes ace high with two spaces, like we had a good flop, but it just breaks out from there. We're very yin and yang in poco, and if I potner out with you, I gotta be mentally prepared that we could bust full bet shoving the King seven off. So I I mean, yeah, I was ready to Yeah, you know, she probably had freaking nothing too, Like, it's just she probably had nothing. Oh she had Jackson. We hit a king on the turn, and that's fine, that's true. That's true. Or we could just flop two sevens whatever it may be, that could have happened. Um, all right, so that happened. So the Ronnie story, You're sitting down, I'm sitting down. You're like, you're in We're in C three. Ronnie's in seat seven. He's sitting there. He's under the gun. So if he was doing a pont A switch, he was doing well, he was doing he sat down, but then there was some a friend of his was on the rail. I was not at the table for this, but I had walked up like when this happened. So Ronnie, if if people don't know, if you if you watched High Noon the Poker Go Show, you would notice that Ronnie got into was some guy who like lied about a hand history or something. And Ronnie's walking around here at the World Trees of Poker with a boot on his foot because he tore his calf muscle and sometimes he's on crutches. Yeah, okay, so but our tables right on the rail. Okay, so we're on the rail. Ronnie gets up to say hello to like somebody that he hasn't seen in a while. The dealer short pitched his cards to him, so they weren't all the way to his seat. They were probably two feet a foot and a half away. They were in front of his cards. The guy next to Ronnie, who's under the gun plus one, must have thought that Ronnie's cards had been folded or something, because he puts his cards on top of Ronnie and then is gonna push them to the dealer. Ronnie's like in the middle of like coming back to his seat, which he's literally like two feet away from because the rail is right there. But he's, you know, he's got the thing on his foot, so he's kind of turned around slowly and trying to like hop over. He sees this happening, he starts freaking out, absolutely freaking out. Him and the guy start yelling at each other like this is this whole thing called the floor this and they both explaining it. Once the fall gets it, they both explaining it wrong. And it's a fall that obviously I've known for a while. I say, please can't sorry to also mention the deala she was a little like, you know, maybe nervous or like trying to explain the situation now because Ronnie just came at her. Yeah, yeah, And I said, can I please explain what happened? But like before you explained what happened, Ronnie like literally took the other guy's cards off of his cards and pulled his cards back, which I guess you could tell that they were his cards, but he like was like, no, these are mine, Like these are mine. And then somebody said like you need the full He's like, I don't need to fold. He was like, all he's coming at everyone. Yeah. So so then you like explained what happened. Yeah, And so then they allow Ronnie to play. Then yes he and he raises, yes Jack he raises So but did he know he had Jack? I think he did, because I think afterwards he said, I knew what I saw what I had, so I didn't want to follow in my hand and he they gave him his cause back. He raises. I said, for the love of God, I want to bust you. This hand falls around to me. I have the eight fall spades. I followed a couple of time, just went all in on him. Came eight, eight, ten, he bet he took it down. But I was like that we could have got him. We really could have got him right there. So that was it was just comical because like you're at you're at this table and Ronnie's just going off, just yelling about this whole thing. This and the yelling at the guy next to I mean, the whole thing was just it was just wild. But yeah, but that happens, just funny stuff. Ronnie is one of those people that I feel like he showed he's a personality, he's a character. He's super colorful. Um, I feel like he needs to like be a vlogger or something like put it out there, but he always kind of shies away on the camera. But he like he needs like just be Ronnie. We saw Ronnie on high noon yelling at that guy in the field like you know, like just an animal out there in the jungle, like doing his thing. Like that's what we saw. So that was great anyway. So that's our that's our tag team day. I lost the Last Longer to Jeff Platt his team, him and Brent Hanks. They didn't last much long and lost, but I still lost the Last Longer. So it is what it is what are you gonna do. We'll try again next year, hopefully make you guys happier than we did this year because it's your son. Um, you know, kind of the enjoyment of playing ladies events and seniors events, and I think the tag team will eventually kind of be like that way people want to play. And I was thinking when I was playing, like it was obviously fun to play with you, but be really cool to play with like my daughter or my son one day, Like obviously that's a long time away. I think that'd be a kind of a cool fun thing. You know, maybe you play with your daughter in you know, twenty years. Yeah, maybe it'll be fun. Maybe if I'm still playing poker, you'll be one hundred percent still going to be playing poker. I hope to win the main event then by then and retire, you will still be playing poker. You can win the main event back to back years and you'll still be here. I'm gonna I'm gonna I'm gonna pas higns this thing. I'm gonna be like, I'm out, gonna be out, I'm gonna see you later. I don't believe it. Um coming up on Friday fifteen, hundred dollars Millionaire Maker kicks off. That's gonna be a madhouse in here. Can't wait to see how big that field gets. That'll be on the poker Go YouTube channel. I believe we've scheduled the stream to start at four pm Las Vegas time cards will be in the air for that field at two pm. Will be working on a two hour delay to start, but that's gonna allow us to chop out the dinner break later on and you know, give you guys a full stream from start to finish. The ultimate goal is to play down to the final five or six players like we did last year. They played down to five, but I don't know if they're gonna get there this year. Who knows. We'll see how it goes. M But that's gonna be on the poker Go YouTube channel. You can tune in and listen to our commentary. And then on Saturday, we have the fifteen stud High Low Tournament. That's always a fun one to watch. I always think it brings out to some really good mixed game players. I know it's not the biggest buy in. I know it's not a game that everyone necessarily knows, but I'm a stud high low fan myself, so that one will be a fun one to watch. And that's all we got.
