Tim and I will do a little bit of an end of the year recap, which includes, you know, some predictions, some forecasting, our favorite stuff from the year, all all that, and then I guess we'll talk a family pot. We haven't done it in a while. You know, we can hear about how each other's Christmases were. I think I think I'm gonna have the same thought as I did on a last year's family pot if I remember correctly, But we'll get into that when the time comes later on in this episode. The first time we've ever done this. Tim's brainchild. I helped, but I'll give Tim seventy five percent of the credit. I'll take twenty five percent of the credit. I just hope that on the next meeting we have with the team, he would stop saying I did this and I did that, and says we did this and we did that. Anyway, because you have ideas, and I always say Donnie's ideas. You know what's funny In the majority of the idea, it's your right, I understand. But listen, I'll say this. There are times when I go to you first with my ideas because I consider you a very grounded, common sensical, intelligent individual, you know, And I give my ideas to you because I respect your opinion and I want you to tell me if I'm stupid or if it's a good idea. Okay, that's it's like me, it's a it's a vetting process. I will also say that there are times when I tell you the idea and then you just go say the idea correct I have? Yeah, I know, I mean, but whatever, it doesn't matter. As long as the idea gets out there, it's fine. But you are usually my first like point of contact to tell me if I'm crazy or not. So yeah, anyway, back to the PGT Last Chance series. This series runs January twod through seventh at the poker gro studio in Las Vegas. It's six one day, ten thousand dollars buy in poker tournaments. All final tables are going to be live streamed on poker gro and the series is important because it's going to determine a lot of different things for the PGT season, the PGT leaderboard and then ultimately the PGT Championship. One thing that's going to determine is it's going to determine the season long leaderboard winner. So the PGT season long leaderboard winner, player of the finish with the most points at the top of the leaderboard is crowned the PGT Player of the Year. That player will also win a fifty thousand dollars bonus. Right now, it's Isaac Haxton on top. I think he's on top by like two hundred points, give or take. So he's the favorite for sure. You know, Isaac's been crushing all this year, done extremely well. He has a somewhat comfortable lead. You know, it's it's not out of the realm of possibility that that someone can catch him. Chris Brewer would be the one that could, you know, is the closest. He's in second place, but you know, Brewer could certainly perform. Well, he's had a hell of a year, hell of a season himself, so he could. For me, it just really kind of comes down to who plays the most between those two and we'll see. You know, Hackson hasn't always been someone to come play all the ten k events that we have at the Poker Ro Studio, but you know, given his positioning on the leaderboard, maybe he does so, so we'll see how that works. That's that's the first thing that the PGT Last Chance is going to determine, is that PGT Player of the Year winner. The second thing that it's going to be determined is it's gonna lock in the top forty of the leaderboard and determine the starting chips for the players. So we've talked about it many times, but I will remind everyone the top forty players as ranked by the PGT Leaderboard earn eligibility to compete in the season ending PGG Championship one million dollar free role. And then, as Tim has installed within this leaderboard, your starting chips equate to the points that you earned during the season. And what is it It's one thousand points equal one chip or I can what the hell it is points. Okay, yeah, one big blond got it, and the minimum is going to be a hundred big blondes. So you know, no one's gonna come in super short. What does what does Hackton have? Like right now two and sixty has two hundred and sixty seven big blonds. Yeah, so he's got a lead. You know, he's got a bigger stack, of course, but it's not like he's coming in with a thousand big lines and then somebody else comes in with one hundred. So it's pretty fair and also rewards the players for how they do. So even if you're kind of locked in, like let's say you're fifteenth, you're you know, your twentieth, you know, there's a ninety nine percent chance you're not going to fall outside the top forty. There's also a ninety nine percent chance you're not going to win the lead award. That said, you can improve your starting chip position in the PGT Championship, So you know, it's really important for everyone that's within the top forty to come out and play. And also, you know, you get some reps in. You know a lot of people probably had they're probably coming off the win series. Maybe they didn't play the win they play dubis be Paradise, whatever it is. You know, you got one or two weeks off where you haven't done anything other than stuff your face like Tim and I have with all different kinds of food and whatnot. So coming in a little bit cold, you know, get some reps in through these through these six tournaments, you know, also improve your standing, get ready to go for the PGT Championship. And then the third thing that the PGT Last Chance Series is going to do is it's going to award the final two dream seats to the PGT Championship. Tim, I'll let you talk about exactly how that is going to work out. Well, pretty simple. Two highest ranked players on the PGT Last Chance lead aboard that do not qualify for the top forty will win these final two dream seats. So you may have never played an event in the studio, you may be on the fringe, you just you both have equal chance to qualify for the PGT Championship. So basically, it's giving all our players an opportunity and also hopefully bringing in some new blood that hey, million dollar free roll. I would like to be a part of that. Let me see if I can run hot for a few days. Yeah, I mean a couple people that kind of stick out to me in that regard. Daniel Sepiel Chris Mormon, players who have played in the Pokerro Studio before, played some of our events, but aren't the highest volume grinders when it comes to the PGT, right, But both of them just had really big scores coming off their success in the WPT World Championship. Daniel Sepiel of course won the thing for you know, more than five point two million dollars. Chris Mormon made the final table. So maybe we see them come out compete in these series, you know, try and make a run of winning one of those final two dream seeds, get into that million dollar free roll and go from there. So really fun series. It's gonna be live streamed again. Like I said on Poker Go, I think Remco and myself are doing the commentary very much looking forward to that and how this thing all plays out as it pertains to you know, the leaderboard and who gets into the top forty and who gets into the championship at the end of the day, because that's what this is all about. Tim and are gonna do some predictions you know, because it's always fun to do predictions and see how well we can we can figure this stuff out. So, first things first, will Isaac Hackson maintain the top spot on the leaderboard to become the PGT Player of the Year and win the fifty thousand dollars bonus? What do you think? Yes? I mean, yeah, I'm also yes, It's it's such a big it's such a big lead. It's basically going to be you're gonna have to win an event and do something else. And that's just for Chris brul. So the fact that it's over like two hundred points makes it, you know, pretty hard to catch. Yeah, so I'm I'm totally with you. I mean, it's it's it's again, it's boring to to just say yes and you know, not come in here with some sort of like crazy hot take or or whatnot or bold prediction. But I mean, as you mentioned, the only real contender, and it's still a long shot, is is Chris Brewer. So Hackson is the big favorite to to do it. You know, let's see what he does in terms of like coming out to play and seeing if he wants to really solidify his position. You know, he could just come out and like make the final table at the first event or something and just be like all right, like I did it. You know, I'm pretty much locked into the top spot, so let's go. So we'll see how that plays out. But it's you know, it's still gonna be interesting to follow along. I would expect Brewer to be blasting all of it. So maybe, I mean, brew has been hot this year, He's been playing extremely well, so we'll see if you know, he can just just you know, make some noise and really push that envelope. And then that's why it's Stephen Chidwick is in third, but he's like four hundred points back or five hundred points something like that. So Stephen Chidwick, you know, he's I mean, listen, shout out to Steven Chidwick because he continues to just do it every single year. He's just one of the best ever in terms of tournaments. He's last year's PGT Player of the Year. Now he's sitting third entering this Last Chance series. I mean, if anyone can win like three events, it's probably Stephen Chidwick. But you know, but still again that that is quite a bit of a long shot. So Tim and I both think that, Yes, Isaac Hackston will be the PGT Player of the Year and win that fifty thousand dollars bonus. All right, a little bit of a more fun exercise here. Pick two players currently inside the top forty who won't finish inside the top forty, and then if they don't, they're not going to qualify for the PGG Championship. Who you got? I have two PLO players in Ben Lamb currently goody six. We have the same players, and I have the same players. It's it's okay. Atha Mars doesn't live in Vegas. I have not really seen him play any too many no limit hold him events. Obviously, Ben Lamb, he's run deep in the main event. He can play hold him. But will he He doesn't really play our high rollers, so I'm not sure if he's going to show up. But the advantage to him is that he's obviously got a five place gap on forty first and he lives in Vegas, so we may see him. But I wouldn't be surprised if he just gambles and just hopes to make it in. Yeah, I mean, it's it's tricky, you know. As you said again, my picks are also Ben Lamb and Arthur Morris, you know, very similar sort of thought process behind you. What I will say is I feel like I feel like Arthur Morris cares more about it, So yes, I would agree with that, so he might push to play hold him more like, even if he doesn't live here, he lives in Texas, right, So I mean he could make the trip for sure, you know. You know, I think there's I don't know. I feel like there's a better chance that Arthur Morris makes the trip from Texas and plays all these events, and then Ben Lamb, who lives here, plays all the events. Now that doesn't mean that they might play one or the other, but I don't know. That said, you know, even if Arthur Morris does come, he makes the trip, he's still got to put up results like that. It's not just guaranteed. You come here and you gotta win, right, And there's there's a lot of really good players behind him, like not too far off on the on the top forty who are like gonna be out here, you know, gonna be grinding, you know. Right behind him you have Jan's Urns, the Dutch player who you know we saw at the WPT World Championship. We know he's like being bugged by his friends to come out for this sort of stuff, so we'll see if he comes. Gino Reim he's in forty third. I would expect China Reim to be blasting everything. Notcho Barbaro is probably a little bit more of a wild card, but he could be there. I would expect Andrew Lucky Chewie Lichtenberger. He's in forty fifth place. I expect him Calapee to be there. I probably expect Dan Smith. I expect Alex Livingston as well. So I mean it's gonna be it's gonna be tricky, it's gonna be tight at the bottom of that leaderboard. So Tim and I both have Ben Lamb and Arthur Morris as missing the top forty. Now we're gonna pick two players currently outside the top forty who will finish inside the top forty and will qualify for the PGT Championship. Who you got? I got Chino Reem and I got Andrew Lucky Chewy Lichtenburger. Reem forty third and twenty nine points. He's only twenty points from fortieth. Lucky Chewi He's forty fifth. He is forty eight points out from fortieth, so let's call it. I'm in cash for Chino, sixth place for Lucky Chewi. I think those guys care. I know firsthand that they care. Depends if Chino's in town. Maybe he's back in Florida, maybe he's I don't know, in Hawaiian on a holiday. Lucky Chewy, I feel like we could count him paying every event on all in on this to try and qualify either for the top forty or to win that dream seat. Yeah, but I mean if they if they win the dream seat, then they're gonna have a lot of points. They're probably gonna qualify for the top forty. Well, it depends obviously on the results, but yeahah, I share one with you. I also have Andrew Littenberger. You know, I think he's playing extremely well right now. I think is evidenced by his run at the WPG World Championship. Ninety nine percent. Scherry's going to be there for all this sort of stuff. I'm having talked to him, so you know, I expect him to get in there. I'm also I think Jim Callipee, who's right behind Lucky Chewie, he's forty, so chew he's forty six with one thousand and one points, and then Jim Collipy is forty six, or sorry, chew he's forty fifth, and then Jim Klopey's forty six with nine hundred and eighty two points. I know you've talked to Jim a lot. I've talked to him a bit as well. He cares as well. You know, he's playing all the the PGT qualifying events that he can to try and get into this free role. So I would very much expect him to be there. He has put up some decent results this season on the on the Poker Tour, he won one event, He's got fourteen cashes. So I'm looking at Jim Callipee to get into that top forty as well. All right, give your two favorites to win the two dream seats that are being offered. I mean, I should probably just double down and say Chino and Lucky Chewie, But for the sake of the content, I'm going to choose other people. One you mentioned Jim Callipy, I'm going to go with, as you said, nine hundred and eighty two points, a bit of a bigger gap. He's gonna need a let's call it a podium finish to just overtake Arthur Morris in fortieth And I am going to gamble and think Nacho Barbero is going to be in town. He's gonna want to qualify for this free roll, and he's going to put in some work and just fall short. But pick up that dream, Saint. Okay. So I think you're looking too high on the leaderboard, Oh okay, because I feel like I feel like the leaderboard winner for this series is gonna have two hunderd points Soka. Therefore, like I gotta, I gotta anyone that get like so doctor Barbaro for example, is like, what thirty five points off fortieth place, So he's just gonna get into the top forty like if he gets two hundred points in my opinion. So I had to look a bit lower. And then it gets tricky because the lower you get, like one, they're lower for a reason, right, they probably don't put in the volume and all that sort of stuff. And then if you're lower, do you do you care as much like all that sort of stuff? So I looked a little bit lower. The first name that popped out to me was Aramzobian eight hundred and sixteen points. But then I even thought with Aram, I was like, you know, he could get two hundred and fifty points and then qualify for the top four. So I went, I went even lower than that, if you can believe it. So I had to go with my guy, Brian Kim, who's currently in eightieth place with six hundred and forty six points. You and I both talked to him at the win said he's gonna said he's gonna be here for the series. So you know, I know Brian's an extremely good player and and you know is grinding the tournament scene. So I went with him to do this. And then I went with Seth Davies. He's he's one hundred and ninth on the leader board, He's got four hundred and eighty nine points, so very very very likely not gonna make the top forty. That said, I could see Seth coming out playing all these events, having a good run of it, and you know, winning one of those two dream seats. So those are my two picks for this. I got Brian Davies or sorry, Brian Kim and Seth Davies coming in for that one. So but listen, it's gonna be an interesting sweat, and you're gonna have to be on top of the leader board because holy crap, there's a lot, a lot of stuff that's gonna be going on throughout this whole thing. I guess just quickly, let's just touch on like the bottom of the leaderboard. The people who well who do? Let me ask you first, what do you think the cutoff is gonna be? Right now? The cutoff if it were to end today is one thousand and forty eight points. That's Arthur Morris, right, what do you think the cutoff is going to be to get in? I have said since May fourteenth, at four pm Eastern time, twelve hundred points is what you need to qualify and held pretty strong on that, and it looks like I'm probably gonna be about around that. Let me just quickly say that that if if it is twelve hundred, let's say it's twelve hundred, then we're losing what eight players? Yeah, nine players? I think one, two, three, four, nine. Nine players are currently below the twelve hundred mark. Two players have twelve or sorry, three players have twelve hundred exactly. That's Alexander Reared, Juan Massiras and Toby Lewis right, had some big results at the World Series of Poker. Of course they are twenty ninth, thirtieth and thirty first, or you know, tied for twenty nine. However, you want to look at that on the leaderboard. So the players that have below twelve hundred but are in the top forty right now, Orpin Cassatchi Cogloo, Jason Kuhn, Daniel Smilkovich, Daniel Legran. You, that's a big one. Ben Lamb, Max Coleman, Adam Hendrix, Masashi Oya and Arthur Moore. So those players like this is this is nutcut in time. Man like you like you, like you gotta go. Like Daniel Legrand you is like he's been, He's played. He's probably played every single PGT event, right, I mean like ninety five percent. He has the most caches out of anyone this season. He's got twenty four cashes. The only other person that's well, the closest person to him would be there's two. There's you got, Chris Brewer's got twenty three. You have Sam Soiverll has twenty three as well. So they're close now with Brewer and Sam Soverll. They've both won events. They've won two each. Nigranu hasn't won one, And to be honest, I can't really recall any final tables that he's made. I mean, he's made, but like I know, I know, I'm just saying that, Like it's been few and far between for his for the very deep runs, it's been a lot of like min cashing, right, and it's it's kind of the same thing, like he's he's kind of gotten out of the gates and all these tournaments, built some stacks, done well, and then the bubble breaks and it kind of all just falls apart, and like that's just poker, right, So what are you gonna do? I know he kind of feels that way as well. He didn't really do too much down in the Bahamas for WISP Paradise. Again, was building some stacks. If you guys watch watched his vlogs from from the Bahamas, like Tim and I did, it was building sacks, building stacks and then losing some ridiculous all in Like that's like how it was every single time. So we'll see if that turns around for this Last Chance series. Daniel cares about the PGT. He cares about the competition. He loves the whole like lead Award aspect of things, so I would expect him to be out there firing every single one. So but he's gonna need He's one of those guys where he's probably gonna need at least a result, maybe two, to get some points to like solidify his position. I think it's it's you just gotta get. You gotta just overtake the guy ahead of you. You gotta think that way. Regarding the twelve hundred, it's a three way tie on twelve hundred points. And also josh Aria luckily in the final event in Paradise, I think he finished six or seventh, got to twelve hundred and one points. What is so important about that is obviously he leaped over a bunch of people, especially that three way tie for twelve hundred. So it's gonna come down to it. These guys are gonna need a little bit of a boost. I've talked to Juan. He's not playing any of the last chance. He's gambling, he's got family stuff, He's booked a flight. I told him. He's like, tell me, if I do you think I'm gonna make it, I go. I'll tell you what, I'm pretty sure twelve hundred going to be right on the cutoff. If you're going to book a fly, please make sure it's refundable. And he's like, yeah, I mean that's a little it's a little too close for comfort for me. He has stuff on so he can't play. He's scheduled to fly in on I think he said the seventh Alex I played next to him in prime. I told him about it. Who knows if he's showing up. Toby Lewis is probably sitting on a golf course right now, not a single care in the world. But I think Toby might show up, but I'll text it. Yeah, being in Las Vegas as well, like exactly, you know, like he can just he can just drive down like he can he can do the whole thing that a lot of these guys did during the PO series. They play golf in the morning and they come to the studio, you know, like like that sort of thing. If I go ahead, let me finish, if we keep going down orpen is he going to fly back here to Vegas? Did he stay in Vegas? Off to WPT Jason Kerne, we know he lives here. Ten thousand dollars buyings. Not really his cup of tea, but hey, he is the defending chair sampion. I expect him to maybe put in some work. Daniel Smadjovic is extending his trip to play this. He's in. He wants to play. He wants to qualify Nigrano and the rest, Ben Lamb, Max Coleman, Adam Hendrix, Masashi Arthur. I expect at least Max, Adam and Masashi to play. We'll see about Ben and Arthur and Nigrano. You get a roll out of bed, take that one hour commute from Lake Lake, Las Vegas, and put in some work. Yeah. I would expect Coleman, Hendricks and Musashi Oya as well to play. I wouldn't have expected oh Yah to play had he not had the result that he did in the hundred k down in the Bahamas, winning that event, beating Jason Kuhn. Right, so you know what I know he cares. I got forwarded an email from his I don't know, I think he was manager that was emailed to Aria trying to confirm the results of his points. There you go, So he cares. Oh yeah, I'm saying, but he was he was out of the running, Yes, yeah, he was. He was smashing retweet and like on every tweet that mentioned the leaderboard and his name and he knows you mentioned the other one that sticks out to me. I mean that's Jason Kuhn, Like is he He's he's been. He's had a late surge here. You know, he's had some big results during the Bahamas to come into this stuff. You know, he also had a big result it didn't count for PGT points, but still second place in the Alpha eight as part of the WPT World Championship, second place to Renlan. Had a nice score there. So Jason Kuhn, much like he did last year, closing out the year with a lot of big scores. Now it's just gonna be you know, is is Jason kun going to show up for a ten K buying or is he going to really just roll the dice and whatever? I think, you know, I think between us, I've already sent a message to Brent Hanks being like, hey, can you just text him and be like, hey, man, you're the defending champ. Let's go like you know, I know ten K isn't necessarily your cup of tea these days, but you know, let's make it happen, right, you know, it would be great to have him back in there battling for this. And then there's you know, there's not there's not much going on in this first week for a lot of these high roller guys. There is some stuff going on, but you know, for a lot of these guys that they would rather play high rollers, and you know they I think they'd rather prefer playing. They just spent a week with their family. They're sick of them for sure. I mean, I'm play some high roller events as simple as that. This is the perfect series. There's nothing on come play, Yeah, So it's gonna be interesting for those ones. And then I mean we have to touch on Daniel as well. We touched on him a little bit already, but he's sitting in thirty fifth place. He's got seventeen points again, zero wins, but he has the most cases during the PGT season this year. He's got he's got twenty four cashes, so you know, he just again hasn't had the deep, deep runs. There's been a lot of mint cashes here and there. You know, he's from PGT events. He's only cash for one million, three hundred and thirty one thousand, dollars, So it's kind of on the lower side of things for people within the top forty. So we'll you know, we'll see Daniel Cares, he'll be there. We of course would love to have a big name, arguably Poker's biggest name within the top forty. But he's yeah, Seanperry, he's gonna have to do so, he's gonna have to do some more. He's just gonna have to. Like, he's gonna need probably one cash if he gets one final table, I think he's in, right. I think a lot of these guys is literally one final table. Well yeah, but I mean that's hard, Like, I mean, these events are yeah, yeah, but like how many players are we expecting? Are we expecting forty? You tell one, it's gonna if that will matter the must not the making. These could be big, you know, with everything that's going on again, not a lot of high roller stuff in this specific window, as you mentioned, I feel like these guys are gonna be kind of itching to get back out there. You know. There was a lot of buzz around Paradise, around the WPT stuff at the wind like you know, yeah, but then it's like a week and a half maybe two weeks off. You know, you're getting a little stir crazy there. You want to get back out there kick off your year, So why not do this right And the added benefit of as you mentioned, people who aren't necessarily anywhere near the top forty could win into the million dollar free role. So maybe that maybe that first event is like really big, right, because people kind of take their shots. They're like, hey, you know, I'm gonna I'm gonna take my shot if I make a final table, make a deep run, maybe win the thing to start the series, then I'm gonna, you know, try and parlay it into bigger stuff. So so we'll see. I mean, I'm excited for it. I know you are as well. I think I think the players are, you know, from talking to them. You've you've talked to a lot of them and relayed the stuff to our team here, and it seems like a lot of players are like, yeah, this is cool. So we'll see how this PGT Last Chance Series goes, and then I'm guessing it's gonna be a mainstay. Is kind of that last ditch effort to get into the PGT Championship for you know, seasons in the future and then leading into that that PGT Championship. So the PGT Championship is going to take place January ninth through tenth at the Poker gro Studio live streaming on both days. I believe million dollar free roll, five hundred thousand dollars first place prize. There's going to be additional final table payouts as well. So unlike years pass where it's been or at least last year it was a winner take all Jason Cohen won the five hundred k winner take all prize, this time million dollars five hundre k to first. There's going to be some other payouts in there. So really really cool tournament, a lot of prize money up for grabs. Top forty players, as we've been talking about already, are going to qualify. There might be some ties at the bottom, and then if you're tied for fortieth place. Let's say you're tired for fortieth place with these three guys that have twelve hundred points. You know, if Tim thinks has to cutoff, Let's just assume that that's fortieth place. All three guys get in. If you're tied for fortieth, you're getting it, okay, So I'm kind of more incentive to get in there and try and make it into that top forty. There's also gonna be some select dream Sea winners we've got. We've got a bunch already. We've of course have the two dream Sea winners that we don't know yet those will be the final two. We had a one or two with gto Wizard that was given out. So I don't know, maybe ten Dream Sea winners, like total is that? Is that the number? I don't even remember? Four? Are you fourteen? I mean, well, okay, they all got to show up. So if there's forty from the leader board and then there's fourteen, this tournament's going to have fifty four players max. Unless there's ties on the leaderboard. So still fifty four players shot at a five hundred k first place prize, million dollar prize pool. Seems pretty damn good, easy, Yeah, I mean it's just it seems like a really good feel. So so yeah, well that's that's the that's the skinny on the BGT jam Ship. Uh I mean, I guess quickly starting chips determined by the points earned during the season, which we already talked about. Minimum starting stack hundred big blinds. That includes dream seat winners. So, for example, the player that won from the Run Good Poker Series, that person starts with the Hunter big blinds. Okay, so you know that's how that's all gonna work out. Really excited for this event January ninth through tenth of the Poker Studio. Can't wait. Gonna be live streams, Gonna be a lot of fun, our season ending event. So let's go all right, let's move on to our end of year recap. Just gonna have some fun here, a little bit more laid back. I put down a list of some of the stuff that Tim and I are going to kind of run through. We're gonna give our three favorite stories from the year, our three favorite events from the year, our three favorite players from the year, and then three things we're looking forward to in twenty twenty four. We're also going to talk about our yearly stacked. Because we did it before, we got to do it again. Even though the year's not over. With my stats at least might change at least a tiny bit, because I'll place them online in these couple of days coming up. But for the most part they're pretty locked in. All right. First things, First tim, what are your three favorite stories from twenty twenty three? My first story, number one, the goat, the legend Phil Hellmuth. Not only does he win his first owned and operate a PGT event at the USPO with a straight flush, but he won his seventeenth record extending WSP bracelet. Everyone knows my fondness for the great Phil Hellmuth and what a year PGT victory WSP bracelet. That's my number one story. Yeah, and just quickly on Phil Helmy. He is sitting nineteenth on the PGT lead Award thirteen hundred and four points. He's actually tied with high Yeah, Isaac Kempton and Leon stem All three of those players have thirteen hundred and four points. Phil Hammuth has two wins on the PGT or in PGT qualifying events this season, nine cashes one million, four and fifteen thousand dollars in prize money. One of course. Yeah, so Phil Hammuth is likely going to get into the championship. You know, I would hope that he would come out and play some of these events. I think they kind of favor him, you know, one day events kind of a little bit of a faster structure, Like I feel like that's kind of in his wheelhouse for these these high roller type stuff. So I would like to see him out there battling and try and improve his standing. So that's a good one. That's a good story. I will also say that, you know, I think going forward, like, and I'm saying this from part of the production team, like, we kind of got to do better to get the hellmuth bracelet wins all Like, you know, you can't just have that, you know, happen out somewhere in the forest and and you know, no one knows that the tree fell. So yeah, all right, My first story is I got the continued comeback of Chino Reem. You know, he's been he's been out there, you know, kind of got away from the game for a little bit really just to work on himself. You know, he talks a lot, He's done some interviews, He's talked a lot about people about you know, kind of where he was at in terms of like dealing with substance abuse and all that sort of stuff, but has really done a good job to turn his life around, and with that has come a lot of newfound success within poker. Not that Chino hasn't had success before, because he's had plenty of it in the poker world. But you know, I'm a sucker for a good comeback story, and this is one of them. So the continued comeback of Chino Reem. We'll see if he can continue that comeback to get into the top forty here of the PGT lead aboard and and go on to uh, you know, make the PGT Championship event. But you know, so far, so good, and sort of this rebirth of Cheina Reem. I've always said it. My twenty five K Fantasy partner Matt Clark agrees with me. We've always said it in terms of like major like ten thousand dollars buy in main event tournament players. China Riem is like one of the ghats, right, Like he's just he just performs and performs and performs every single time. So that's my that's my first favorite story of twenty twenty three. What's your second? Second one? Is? Sorry? Eric, saidel Now in a full way tie for ten WSP Bracelets with Johnny Chan, Phil Ivey, and the Light Doyle Brunson. I don't think anyone has said a bad word about Eric Sidell in his entire career. He is just complete professional, completely loved by I think players and media. Surprising for Eric. He won four bracelets in the nineties, four in the two thousand, then had something like a fourteen year gap until he won an online one in twenty twenty one, I think, and then wins his tenth this year. Now I think it's I guess between him and Phil Ivy to see who will you know, ascend to be second old time by themselves. My bet is on side L. Yeah, I thought that was pretty cool. You're betting on Sidell. Yeah, of course I'm betting on Do you want to know? Okay, I'll tell you why. Sidel is probably going to play Vegas, Europe, Paradise, Asia, Pacific, wherever WSP takes us. He also plays all the online events while Phil maybe rolls out of bed for a ten K. He plays like twelve events during the World Series. So that guy's dead to me, removing him from my rushmore, he's gone. I think I gotta go with Ivy just crazy. I think, just based on where I view them skill wise, performance wise, the events that Ivy plays, I think he can he has a better chance of winning some of these than Eric motivation. Yeah sure, I mean Eric Sidel doesn't put in the biggest volume these days either. I know he travels to some stuff, but it's not like he's trumps Philip Ivs. Eric Saidell another another player in the top forty of the PGT leader wards, sitting eleventh, fourteen and seventy four points. He's got one win in a PGT qualify and he's got eleven cashes just shive two point five million dollars in earning. So we should very much see Eric Sidell in the PGT Championship event. My second favorite story is kind of in the same vein as as Tim's second favorite one. I got the WASB main event topping ten thousand entries for the first time ever. I put in parentheses in my notes live poker because I think that's good evidence of of where live poker is. I think live poker is in a great place, you know, coming out of an enormous twenty twenty three I would actually like if I mean, I don't want to do this, So I'm going to ask someone else to do this. I'm going to make a public request, like every year handed mobs should put out stats on live poker, like live poker grew x percent or it didn't grow. You know we had you know of the of the entries in our database. You know we had this many. You know, this is where live Poker's at, this is where it's not, this is the s B, this is where it was last year. This is where the World Poker Tour is. Like stuff like that. I think that would be cool. You know, that'd be nice, a nice piece of content for the hend and mob to put out there, to to lean on all the stats that they have. I have no idea how hard that would be to get from from their system. If it's easy, it'd be great to have. If it's not easy, I would love to have it. But I understand if you're not going to do it, so you I get I get it. But anyway, w SPE main event topping ten thousand entries for the first time ever. I mean I I have high hopes for twenty twenty four. I don't know where it's gonna go, how high it's gonna go. I think they're gonna set another record. You know, it was what ten thy forty three this year, so I think they're gonna get up over that number next year. And it's just I mean, it really is incredible. I mean, more than ten thousand entries and a ten thousand dollars buy and freeze out. I mean just wild, absolutely wild. So yeah, I'm I'm that's that's my favorite story. You know, it was it was crazy for it to happen. I'm happy that it happened. You know, not only did it smash that that two thousand and six record of eight thousand, seven hundred and seventy three, you know, it blew it out of the water and just went way over ten thousand. So the was AP is extremely healthy. Wa spe main event is extremely healthy, and in live poker in general is very very healthy. Entering twenty twenty four, Third story, Third favorite story for you? What do you got? I This will kind of could be the fall into the next question. It also is linked to our last discussion point, but the return of the NAPT to the US market, return and Pocus Stars to the US market in a big way. Obviously we both played it. We were there we enjoyed ourselves regardless of how much money we lost. But it's good to see them return. It's also good to see competition in that domestic market. Obviously, we're not sure what their price point will be going forward, but I'm just team competition for those midstakes price points. I think it's good for the industry. It's good for the ecosystem. It's good for giving players choice opportunities to play where they want when they wont so. Yeah, returning the Return of the napt is my my third favorite story for the year. Couldn't quite get there for me. I mean I thought about it, but you know how I feel. Yeah, I feel like it should be a five K, like they should have mirrored the EPT a little bit better. I think we just got we have to give them a little little bit of room. Let's see what happens. Given any I'm not giving any room to what I considered, you know, like a top three brand in poker. You know you don't get no room. You know, it is no all right? My third one actually thought that we might share this one, but we don't, which is good to have a lot of differentiation here. I got Game of gold Man. I mean Oh, it was my alternate. Like it's just I know, there's we've we talked about it a lot, and like there's a lot of a lot of improvements that that we would make with things, you know, but they're kind of small improvements, you know. Overall, I thought the product the Game of Gold show was was very good. I thought it certainly paved the way for this type of content having an avenue within poker, you know, to be successful. I'm excited for them running it back with season two and seeing where they take the show. So yeah, I thought it was very cool to see that sort of content. You know, I listen, I'll be the first to tell you that ninety eight percent of people out there within poker, they only want to watch poker, like that's what they want. But this, you know, made me think otherwise that said, I wouldn't say that, you know, every sort of like operator or content producer like Poker Goth, etcetera, should go out there and like make some sort of survival reality poker show because I don't think that there's an appetite for too much of it. I think one within the industry is good. I'm happy that GG Poker captured that with Game of Gold. I thought it was a lot of fun to watch, you know, you and I talked about it several times. We watched every single episode pretty much the day that they came out. So so yeah, I'm ready to see what happens with with Game of Gold in the future. If GG Poker wants to give you know you or I a call, I'm sure we could help them out, you know, for a consultation fee, you know, but but it'll be an affordable one. But but yeah, Game of Gold was was a very cool, a bit of a a you know, a new take on poker content that still did involve some poker play throughout. So yeah, a lot of fun. And if you guys are out there, you know, Kaitlyn Kameski put out a little funny video on social media like reenacting all the all the Game of Gold characters. It's just incredible comedy. So shout out to Kaitln for that. So those are our three favorite stories of twenty twenty three. You'll notice I call them favorite stories because not necessarily the biggest, but you know, they're they're the stories that stuck out to Tim and I the most. All Right, three favorite events from twenty twenty three, and I put here in our notes that it can be from working, playing, or watching, so kind of, however you want to tackle this one, you went first, and the last one I'll go first. Here. I got the WPT World Championship is is number one. These aren't any particular order for me. I just wrote them down, I probably I think I wrote them down and then I thought about reordering them later, but I never went back and reordered them. So whatever. So you know, for all you people out there, don't worry about the order on these. But WPG World Championship, you know, is up there for me. I mean it's it's up there for me kind of in all three aspects, working, playing, and watching. You know, had the opportunity to play again this year. Had a lot of fun playing it. You know. I love playing at the WIN. It's my go to place to play poker. Love the tournaments that they do there. I'm a really big fan of the WPT brand. I was before I spent some time working with them. I was during my time working with them. I still am now. Of course. You know, it's great to have the price points that they did, the guarantees that they did, the field sizes that they did. All that sort of stuff was was incredible from a player perspective, you know, into terms of working like like industry wise. I love that event. I love that it's become as big as it has. I know they did miss by about two and a half million on the forty million guarantee, but I thought they took it on the chin extremely well, you know, carried themselves extremely well throughout, and I'm very excited to see what they run it back with next year. And then listen from watching the event, the final table was, I mean, maybe the best final table I've ever watched when when you consider all things. I know we talked about this on the last episode, but I'm just gonna emphasize it once again, is that it was. It was just an absolutely incredible watch if you are a poker nerd like I am. I mean, it was, it was tremendous. The action was you know, it never seemed like there was like a really long time. You know, you watch some of these final tables and sometimes you'll go like a half hour and like nothing happens. Nothing. I mean this on when it seemed like something was always happening. You know, the play was super high level. There was a lot of exciting moments. Obviously, production value was extremely good with the World Poker Tour. So so yeah, that's a that's my first favorite event. Again, no particular order, but WPT World Championship for me, What do you got Mine is there's a word in the English language that I cannot think of right now. But my favorite event was WSP Paradise. And the reason it was my favorite event is because it created. It created a lot of hate, created some uproar, it was successful. Yeah, you just want to watch the f and world burn me clearly, clearly, I like, Okay, I'll tell you what I like. You would have a different you would have a different take on this had you ever been to Atlantis. True, I know, but I know a lot of a lot about it, and I've heard bad things. But I like the fact that w SP expanded. I didn't like that they went to Atlantis, you know, I didn't like the dates they chose. I like their schedule. You know, they streamed a lot. I like that the WSP plus app great. Lack of live reporting on day ones of big buying events not good. So what I mean is that a lot of people were talking about it. It had a lot of pros, had a lot of cons. But like I said, I think it's good to have some competition. I think it's good to have more options for players. Obviously I didn't like where it was. We've discussed this a lot. Hey, just move it left or right of the win World Championship, you'd be fine. But you know, I'm a soccer for the WSP. I am a sucker for bracelets and giving out a million of them. So it was my favorite event. Not because it was my favorite, but because of what it created amongst media, amongst the industry, amongst the players. If that kind of makes sense. Yeah, no, that makes sense. I mean, listen, I'm a soccer for the WACAP as well. That's why my second one is the main event. I mean I said it earlier when I talked about my favorite stories. You know, wspam main event topping ten thousand entries. I mean, come on, I mean, come on, if listen, I'm I can't get behind these poker awards anymore. I just can't do it. But but if this doesn't win Event of the Year next year, I mean I'm gonna I might throw a fit like I might. I might just like go crazy, like, I mean, come on, people, ten thousand entries in a freeze out the WSOP main events, I mean, come on, shattered the record, you know, listen. I mean this is like it's the bucket list event, you know, like it's the event you like, if you're a poker player, just do whatever you can to save ten k for a year and come out and fire on this one, like it's the event. We saw a lot of excitement from it from from watching it play out. You know, of course, the crazy hand with the jacks for Daniel Wyman when he hit the jack on the turn to win that three way all in, you know, then he goes on to win the whole thing. So yeah, I mean there's nothing like the WSP Main Event in poker. There's there's there's nothing like it in the world there There really isn't. So yeah, it's it's my If we do this every single year, our top three favorite events, it'll probably take a lot for the WSP Main Event to not be on my list, Like they would have to entirely screw the thing up, which you know, at this point is is probably impossible. It's just a great tournament. It really is, you know, it's it's the dream for poker, you know, so yeah, it's for sure on my list. Yeah, I agree there with the whole favorite best Event. It has to always win. So when it comes to you was unless unless it unless it falls off right, Like it's just like but if they keep increasing every single year, like like this is this is the event, you know, this is the event, and it's to that extent, like that's why it's kind of a weird award to have because this should be the one, you know, like it's yeah, so so it's it's kind of it's kind of tricky. I actually met with Eric from hand Them Up and I made a suggestion for an award and bringing or I think you said that'd be bringing it back. I think we've done it before. But like you basically have an industry award for like new events like innovation, because you know, obviously we're doing new stuff, other people are doing new stuff. That's never gonna win Best Event, but it should still get recognized in some way and that leads. I would I would even I would even would, I would be fine with it with a with a change to the name of that award to favorite event of the year, meaning people can vote for their favorite. That makes that's different than best because to me, the best event is the is the biggest event that wins the most money, that draws the most people in, and that's the World Tas of Poker Main Event every single year. I'm sorry, it just is, you know, and listen, I know we obviously have, you know, our complaints about the w SP and whatever at times, that event is still run pretty damn well, especially given the freaking size of the stupid thing. Like, I mean, that's not easy, and they do it and they get it done and it flows pretty damn smooth, right, Like, so all things considered, that's still the best event for me. It just is, you know, you know, for me, would it be my favorite event? I mean maybe, but I also don't necessarily know. I've you know, there are a lot of other great events. Maybe your favorite event is the NAPT main event. Maybe mine's the WPT World Change. You know, I don't know, but like favorite event I think is better in line with like what they're trying to achieve from the voting process of that award. Yeah, my second favorite event of the year was the one we, with the help of players, put together and that was the super high Rollaball one hundred k PLO, biggest buy and PLO event in the history of poker to all of our knowledge. Got a pretty good turnout in my opinion. I know a lot of people were like, oh, it's gonna get sixty or one hundred. I was pretty confident on forty and I got thirty eight, which was won by Jared Blesnick. Obviously we had to do some schedule moves. We probably could have got a few more players, but regardless, it's what the players wanted. I think it's what the fans of PLO wanted, and it was kind of cool to to run that inaugural buy in and that inural event in the studio. Yeah, that was a That was a very cool event. You know, I really liked it and I'm happy that it was on the schedule. As we've talked about before, it probably won't be the biggest buy an event come twenty twenty four Peel event. You know, I just think that there are some other operators, you know, cough dobysitp cough, like you should definitely do a massive buying Peel event. The time is rate, I will say just quickly, and this is a little bit of a aggression, but whatever, I still believe and I believe this for many years now. World Poker Tour needs to add a PLO event for the main tour. I think it would. I think it would especially right now, like it would blow doors like PLO is hot. Yeah, right, So if you're gonna do it, now is the time. I mean it would have been great to like you just throw it into the WPT World Championship schedule at the win. I know there's like the whole like it doesn't do well on TV and this and that and whatever. Well does it have to be TV, right, I mean it doesn't have to be like TV. It could be streamed. Doesn't have to be TV, you know, and if you if you price it right, if you get the field size that I'm sure Tim would agree that. We think that it can get like it's gonna have a huge first place prize, like it's gonna it's not gonna like you wouldn't roll it out there, and it's gonna get like sixty players like no, like it would like it would be a tournament, right, it would be a thing. So I would I would push for that on the World Pop Tour if if I was, if I was there in that room. Now back to the topic, top top or sorry, three favorite events. I'm sticking with the same brand, but I'm going with the regular super high rollerble. I know numbers are down a little bit, but this one, to me is like from a work aspect, it's our like most premier event every single year, all things considered. You know, such an incredible price point three hundred thousand dollars, you get the best of the best playing in it, and just from from watching it. I know I did commentary throughout, but being able to watch the best of the best at such a high buying play for three straight days from start to finish is just absolutely incredible to me. I mean that is like that takes the cake over a lot of things. Like you know, I know Chris Brewer ultimately didn't cash in the event, but like he played lights out from start to finish, and you saw a lot of super super high level plays from him throughout the whole thing, and like you know, a lot of times when when you stream poker tournaments, like you know, we know that from from the poker rolf, stuff from the PGT stuff. It's just the final table, right, you know, like when you can do an event from early on and you can really see the story drawn out from start to finish. You can see how players build stacks, how they took some beats, how they you know, maneuvered their way all that sort of stuff. I'm a super big sucker for that. So yeah, I love when we do that for the Super High Rollable and it's my favorite event to like watch, Like I I like like to sit down and actually watch it. I rewatched it after after we you know, we did the event, we did the commentary. I sat down for you know, a day and a half or so and like watched the whole thing straight through, and it's it's just incredible to me. So I'm I'm a sucker for that, you know. I I thought that, like that's what was missing from like the Big One for One Drop returning. Like, yeah, the final table is great, but a lot of times you get to these final tables and it's it's more it's more cookie cutter because the stacks aren't as deep. You know, there's ICM and the players kind kind of just know what to do, right, But like, what are they doing with two hundred big blinds and like level three when they just got five bet pre flop, Like you know what, what's happening in that sort of stuff? Like in this year is we saw justin Bonham and Daniel Legrand You're getting this crazy pow where I think the Granni folded Kings was that correctly or something like like on the flop maybe or whatever? But like just like stuff like that, It's like I think Bonhama might have had like Ace King or something or Ace Queen. I can't remember exactly how it played out, and I could be totally wrong there, but like you see these very elaborate spots earlier in the tournament where like I think like the big one for one drag million dollar buying same player field as the super high roll level, like seeing them play from start to finish, that would have been amazing, Like that would have been incredible. Like how does Jason Coon and Mikiita bed Zyakowski go to war and level two? Like you know how is like Adrian Mataeos and you know whoever, like going to war and level five? Like what's happening there versus like getting to the final table and like oh, okay, he jammed twenty seven big blinds. I'm calling this percent okay, click call, like you know, that's I like to see a lot of the earlier stuff now. So so yeah, that's like why I love Super High Rollable so much. It's just such an incredible event. So those my top three. I'll let him give his third and a second, but I have WPG World Championship, WSP main Event, and the Super High Rollable my final one. Keeping it home on the PGT PGTAM mixed game series. The first one we did in February. We never had a mixed game series done at this kind of price point before. Players showed up, turned out, they battled, they loved it. Obviously, we ran it back. We're gonna run it back again this year. It was kind of cool to like with the help of players, just like a lot of the stuff we do on the PGT is just, hey, what works, Let's figure out this schedule, let's figure out these dates. Let's as a team work together to create something that you guys want to play. And I think it shows the support from the mixed game players. At the numbers we had, we had some insane numbers in the opening events where we trumped all out of our limit hold them events for unique entrance. I think we had like sixty something unique entrants in the Horse in the eight game, and it was just kind of cool to see all these guys flying, you know, from international come in play this mixgame series. So that to me was obviously close to my heart being a mixed game player as well. Yeah, I mean that's just a super cool series. Same sort of thing for the PLO series as well. So I know we're working on getting those back into the schedule and where they're going to be for the twenty twenty four PGT season and you know that stuff will be announced in due time. But yeah, great events so far, you know, great kind of first runs at those those two series. All right, next next thing, we're going to talk about our three favorite players from twenty twenty three who stood out to us the most and why Tim you can go first, because I just went first on the last one. Okay, my first player Isaac Haxton. Okay, so you know we're talking about standing out the most. Come on, this guy won sixteen point nine million dollars this year, seven wins, I think four of them with PGT events he's just crushing. He won his second Super High Rollerball title. He could have won his third but fell short to Jared Blessnik. He is having a top five poker year of all time, without a doubt. That's all I gotta say on Isaac. Yeah, I think I think one of these, one of these episodes. This has always been kind of on my mind. We need to go through and like do like the top five like poker years at least, like how we think, you know, because there's a lot of like huge years like this justin Monimo hand One, Dan Coleman, Fader Holes, like you know, all these years pop out, So like how do we like kind of rank them against each other? Yeah, you know, I think we can probably we could probably do that at some some point. There's also some of years in the mid two thousands where say Nigrander won two WPT events and a bracelet and won one point nine million dollars, but it was probably probably should be in the top five, but it's just like the money is so different nowadays. No, for sure, I mean I totally agree. I mean so that would just be kind of a fun little little podcast too. All right, you went with Isaac Hackson. I'm gonna go someone who's also very very high up on the yearly money list, and that's Chris Brewer. I mean, crushed in twenty twenty three. You know, it finally finally felt like he got his due after so so so many you know, close calls that that Chris Brewer has had some in some enormous events. He even had a close call this year again what he bubbled the Super Higher roller Bowl. Like, I mean, the guy just consistently shows up, plays his ass off, like he's incredible at playing this stuff. And you know, I know it's not technically a quote unquote breakout year, but like when you've been so close for so long and you finally get all those big wins, you know, winning two bracelets, you know, winning a lot of stuff elsewhere, like good, good for Chris Brewer, Like honestly, and it's been it's been a great pleasure to watch him play. You know, I mentioned his run in Super High Rollable, ultimately short falling short of the money. But even in the wake of that event, him and I talked about how much like his play stood out to us. You know, I'm a sucker for an excellent tournament player, and Chris Brewer is that and and it's you know, it's it's good to see a player of his caliber, you know, finally have the success that's kind of been a long time coming with so many, so many close calls. So he's the first person that's stood out to me from twenty twenty three. My second player is one of the funnest players to cover from the media side, and that is rad Trump Perry. No, he's he's my third guy, Red Lynn. Some people might say, hey, flies and flew under the raider a little bit. This year he won six point seven million dollars. He had three victories, including, as you mentioned earlier in the show, defeating Jason Kuhn in the fifty k Alpha not really eight. But this guy has played literally it's the beta, the beta, yeah, the Beta five, maybe the Beta five. He has played everywhere this year PSPC Bahamas, went to France, came back for USPO, WPT cashes, WSFP CASHES, WSP on the Lion, Cashes, EPT Barcelona, EPT Cyprus, Tryon, WSP Europe, WSP Paradise, WPT Vegas. This guy has been everywhere and you look at these results. We'd mentioned the the Beata five victory, twentieth in the main event WPT for two hundred and thirty six thousand. He had a second WSP Europe for four hundred thousand euro hit, a third at Triton for four hundred and sixty eight thousand. Pokemass has a second, a third, a seventh. He's he just he's crushing the whole year. Obviously, three victories, maybe could have had four or five. Playing everything plays everything except mix but plo no limit looks like buying's don't matter. He's got cashes in you know, thousand dollars events all the way up to fifty thousand dollars events. So ren Lynn, you're my second favorite player that stood out, but you're also my favorite because you're You've always got a smile on your face and I love that. Yeah, nons Rend's great for sure. I got Jesse Lonis as my second favorite player. You know, the like just again you to use that word breakout. I mean his breakout was last year, you know, but but this year is like the real come up right. It's like, you know, are you a kind of a one hit wonder in a way? No, I mean, Jesse Lonis won a million dollars last year in tournaments this year, I think he's up over four million, you know, So the come up is real for Jesse Lonis. He went from I think he was a construction worker. Then he like played cash games, limit hold him at Bollaggio stuff like that. Now he's just a tournament crusher, you know, most notably won the fifty k PLO at the World Series of Poker this year. So so yeah, I just I'm again a sucker for a bit of a success story, you know, somebody who kind of comes from like nothing in poker or not having won anything, to like, you know, being a star. And I certainly think Jesse Loanis is that, and you know, it's good to have him the success. He's got a got a bit of a gambler in him too, you know, likes to fire the sports bats, likes to you know, take him to the streets on the felt stuff like that. So so yeah, I got Jesse loanis good one. Uh My third guy won five point six million dollars this year. Like Ren, how Ren plays in every country, this guy stays pretty home, stays here in Vegas, but plays every buying I'm looking at his hand on right now. He's got cashes in five hundred dollars online events, thousand dollars live events, all the way up to three hundred k buying events. And I'm talking about Andrew Lucky chewey Liechtenberger. Like I said, he's just a crusher. He's having a sensational year. Kicked it off with a tenth place WSP twenty five K six Max. He won a Pokemas's event on his birthday, took second to Isaac Hackson in Super High Roller Bowl, then topped it off third place WBT World Championship. Just look at those results, you know, decent sized field ten k, incredibly massive field sized ten k, one of maybe the toughest events in the world, the twenty five K six max, and then the biggest buying of the year until December, a three hundred k took second place amongst the best players in the world. And then you mix it in with these four hundred dollars online events, these one thousand dollars live events at the win. He can do it all, and he's having a great year. He's also, like Ran, one of the nicest guys you'll ever talk to, one of the nicest guys on the table. So yeah, Lucky Chewy, he's my third favorite player of twenty twenty three. All right, my last one is another extremely nice guy, at least I believe someone I think many would agree Sean Perry in absolute crusher as well, but somebody who I think just flies entirely under the radar, and that's Timothy Adams. I mean, this guy every single year crushing, crushing, crushing. He's very very quiet in terms of like a personality, so you know, he's not going to be out there like a Sean Perry for example, you know, making a lot of headlines with with you know, being being a colorful character. He doesn't play the stuff in the US, doesn't even come to the World Series of Poker anymore, just because he's Canadian and the tax sort of stuff. He's living in Finland all all that, you know, so he mostly frequents, you know, the European poker scene a lot of that's Triton. You know, he won the the Triton London main event for more than four million dollars. You know, he had another big score in like a two hundred k or whatever at a Triton event multiple you know, six figure scores throughout the year. He's won more than eight and a half million dollars this year, which you know, he's just every single year. Timothy Adams is just crushing, absolutely crushing. As I said with with Chris Brewer. You know, I'm a sucker for an excellent tournament player and Timothy Adams is that. So yeah, you know, just winning big, doing so quietly like like Timothy Adams does you know, I'm I love that. The poker nerve to me loves that. So you know, he's he's a favorite player of mine and you know, one of my favorite players from twenty twenty three given the success that he had so good list, you know, I thought we hit on some some really good players overall. So that's that's a lot of fun. Three things we're looking forward to in twenty twenty four, I'll kick it off. I'm really looking forward to live poker and more growth for live poker. You know, I've talked about it a few times already on this episode. Ws P made event crushed. WPT World Championship did extremely well. It seems like live poker everywhere is just freaking bananas, right, So I'm very much looking forward to where Live Poker goes next year. I think there's a lot of a lot of room for growth still to be had, you know, as big as these events have gotten, like, I think there's still a lot of potential to go even higher if I want to get a little bit more specifically, I'm really looking forward to what the WSP does in the summer, you know, just kind of on all the success the new competition that they have, you know, go and blow for blow with the WPT you know, So are they gonna come out with a guarantee on the main event? What are they gonna do for the main event? How are they going to push the envelope in that regard? You know, they've been running a lot of a lot of promotions in recent years. Last year, you know, they really made an effort to break the record, break that number from two thousand and six seven hundred and seventy three entries. So now what are they gonna do this year? Right, Like, are they gonna push the envelope even harder, try and set a new record, get at least ten thousand and forty four entries in the field? You know, like, what are they going to try and hit eleven thousand, Like, where where do they go from here? What are they going to cook up? You know? So I think also in this front you mentioned the return of the NAPT. It's obviously good to have pokersars in the NAPT back in the US. We don't have their schedule yet. I know we have the Poker Stars EPT schedule for the entire year. Super exciting. Let's see what happens with the NAPT here in the States where they go, how many events that they have, all that sort of stuff. Of course, you can throw the WPT World Championship into this bucket of live poker. What are they gonna do next year at the win? You know, are they going to run it back with forty million? Are they gonna get really crazy and go even higher to fifty million? I mean, at this point, I have no idea what the world I would I'm I would be more surprised if they so they missed the they missed the forty million guarantee by two and a half million. I would be infinitely more surprised if they did something like drop it to thirty million versus go to fifty. Like, out of those two things, fifty to me is the favorite. Yeah, I guess is they probably just run it back at forty, you know. But but yeah, I mean, everything that went on with the World Poker two in the wt World Championship I think was you know, obviously very good. I mean, listen, while I've said it before, I don't agree with like how WSP Paradise was done going head to head in the same time slot as WPT World Championship. Having that event on the schedule, I think is a good thing. So I know that, like technically, if I were to get my way and they were to put it in January, it wouldn't be in twenty twenty four, but it would be in twenty twenty five. So I'll kind of throw it out there as like, you know, let's see what happens with that as well, you know. So so yeah, I'm I'm excited and something that I think is like kind of well, it's probably a very big long shot. But there was some recent news that I don't think we talked about on on this podcast, but we did, you know, toss some messages back and forth about it. But like Australia is getting back into tournament poker and crowned specifically, So does that mean We're gonna get Auzie millions back at some point in the future. I mean not for this January, right, but like two three years down the road, Like are we moving in that direction? So, like I've always thought the poker scene has been amazing, right, Like it's it's been awesome down there. There was a lot of great events, not just the Aussie Millions. There was a lot of stuff that you know, the Poker Stars APPT did a lot of stuff down there. You had the a n ZPT like stuff like that was just incredible. So are we going to start seeing more of that return? You know, do we bring back the Australian Poker Open, tim do we start looking into that, you know, like stuff like that. I mean, like yeah, if they're going to be allowing tournament poker back at Crown in Melbourne, Like, is there a little bit opening that door, Like come on, let's go. We all love it down there, Let's go. So I'm I know it's not a twenty twenty four looking forward to thing, but that falls into the future of live poker, is what I'm getting at here. So that's you know, how I'm looking forward to the future of live poker in twenty twenty four. So that's my first thing that I'm looking forward to. Mine's in the same wheel house. I already touched on this competition. You know, we have NAPT, we might be getting something with bet MGM, is WPT ready to expand their main tour expand prime here in the US? Possibly PGT. What are we doing? You know? Will we see us all working together we're all friends, or we're going to keep this little war that's happening with the two big dogs. And like something I've touched on as well, innovation, We're going to see some new stuff or we're going to see some new events, new series. Other companies, whether it's NAPT or BET, MGM, WPT, are they going to take some risks? Are they going to bring this plo main tour stuff that you suggested? You know, is NAPT going to you know up that buy and to really challenge you know what WPT off is what we offer, you know, what's BETTERMGM going to do. So I think there's just this year I'm looking forward to to more opportunities for players to play, more opportunities for some of these tours to start expanding here in the US. Because as you touched on Live po car is ready and raring to go. People want to play as simple as that. Yeah, no, I totally agree. I forgot about I just spaced on the Bedom gym stuff as well. You know that's supposed to be coming, so you know what's coming with that, all right. Another thing I'm looking forward to is, you know, this is a personal thing of mine, but playing more, trying to get better, you know, play more, study more, that sort of thing. But then also I really want to continue to do more commentary, continue to improve in that aspect. So I really love the commentary side, you know, getting into it. Like, yeah, I was excited to do it when I started, but I didn't know how much I would love it, And I love it a ton, you knows. As we mentioned earlier, I'm going to be doing commentary for a lot of the stuff that we have going on in January, starting with the PGT Last Chance. So the more that I can do it, you know, the more reps that I can get in, I'm assuming I'll improve a bit. You know, I'm certainly not going to tell you that I'm one of the best out there. I'm far from it. But I'm excited to continue to learn that side of things, you know, and continue to I guess, increase my portfolio you know in that regard, and uh do more of it. You know, it's as a as a poker fan, you know, that's an easy way to watch poker. Just just work it right, Like we're like, you know, it's sometimes you'll like you'll plan to watch a live stream or whatever, and then you know, life gets in the way. You got to do things, kids, whatever, Like, you know, that's hard. But if if it's a work thing, you know, yeah, you're commentating on it, you know, but you're also in a way you're enjoying it. You're watching it, so it's a lot of fun. So so those are the things that I'm you know, I'm looking forward to played played more this year than I did the year before, So I want to kind of continue to do that as well and then try and improve overall. Uh. My second one is bringing it back to the PGT. You know, we are going to implement some changes for the upcoming season with you know, the championship, the lead aboard it, et cetera, which we'll touch on probably maybe next podcast. But what it's going to lead to is a more competitive leaderboard, which in turn results in a more competitive chase to qualify for the PGT Championship. I think there's a lot of excitement right now about PGT Last Chance making this million dollar free roll next season. I think it's going to include more of our players. More of our players will be chasing, give them more opportunities. The guys that are in there every month, you know, playing our Aria high rollers, playing our PGT sprint, playing kind of everything, instead of the guys that are just you know, no offense to Daniel Wyman running like god for two weeks of the World Series. So that's what I'm looking forward to, just how the PGT kind of starts changing and really doubling down on our players. Yeah, I mean, listen, my third one is huge year for the p GT. You know, we have we really have to to make it work in a lot of ways, you know, And what I mean by that is we have to take it to new heights. You know, We've done I think, you know, I know you think as well, we've done extremely well in the first three seasons with this thing, you know, but we got to keep we got to keep building, we got to keep stacking every single year. So yeah, I'm very excited for that challenge. You know, from a personal aspect, I know you are as well. We've got some fun things that we're cooking up. You know, we won't get into those just now, but you know they're going to be announced when the time is right. But you know, I know Tim is hard at work. It's maybe a little bit of a different series or two here there. You know, we obviously got some of the changes to the leaderboard, qualification and rules and scoring and all that sort of stuff that that Tim hit on. You know, we're going to do that. I think signs right now at least are pointing to us a running back the PGT championship in a similar sort of way. So we got that. So yeah, it's a it's a it's a big year for for the for the pg T. You know, we're we're coming off a very big season. But we have to keep it going, right, you know, we got to keep keep driving things forward. So that's it's gonna be a lot of work. It's gonna be a lot of hard work, of course, you know, especially with as you touched upon just a minute ago with with you know, more Live Poker options in the mix now within the US, you know, the napt bet MGM like that sort of stuff. Like, Yeah, it's it's it's harder not to grab hold of the players within this market. But you know, hopefully we've carved out a nice little niche for us in terms of like the players that we're trying to target, you know, kind of like the players that are in like the five K to the twenty five slash fifty K range, you know, the the high roller type guys. So we'll see if we can continue to build on that for for another year and you know, and and push forward. So you know, I'm I'm looking forward to that. Again, not gonna say that it's gonna be easy, because it's not, you know, And and we have a lot of internal arguments and in debates about the PGT, where we want to go with it, what we want to do with it. You know, it's it's a constant tug of war. But you know, the team is hard at work at that challenge, you know, and trying to to make it work it as best they can. So let's see what twenty twenty four brings for the PGT. If I was a betting man and I am. I would bet on us, Okay, I would bet on this team here to figure it out. So you know, I like where we're at, but you know, let's get down, let's get dirty, and let's make it happen. My final one is a personal one. I think last year I said a goal of mine this year was to cross over one hundred K and winnings. I did that when I cash the whatever it was the six hundred event at Win a couple weeks ago. So my next goal is, you know when you look on Hendon and you have like the WSP lugo, WPT lugo, you know you have the logos for some events. I want to cash an event that has a logo. The reason I say that is because, unlike you, and we're going to touch on some stats, I don't play that many events where there's a logo that qualifies. The events I play the most is probably World Series of Poker. The last time I cash in a WSP event there was not a daily deep stack, a free role, or an online event. Guess what year? Wait, not online, non online, not a free roll, not a daily deep stack. So a bracelet event wins the line? Can I have no idea twenty thirteen back in our pokon, No, you weren't. So my point is it could be a WBT, could be a WSP. It's just more likely to be a WSP because I'll play like five of them during the summer. I want to cash an event with a little logo. Maybe it's a PGT logo, it doesn't matter. I just want a little logo on my hand and the mob twenty twenty four. I like it. I like it. All right, Well, let's get into some of our stats, you know, kind of just wrap up the year with with how our poker years went. You want to go first? Or should I go for? Okay, go ahead. I'm probably playing one more tournament South Point ninially this Saturday. Probably, So as of today, I played thirty tournaments, six cashes, one win. I spent basically eleven K cash for sixty six hundred. I bubbled three events, so my stats should be better overall. I lost forty five hundred dollars. Has got bubble stats out here? Well? I bubbled the South Point ninally on Saturday because I texted you about I was pissed. Lost forty five hundred dollars cash games I played forty hours, it doesn't matter lost money, but it's only forty hours, so it's not a real sample size. But yeah, could have done a little better. I didn't run good in my bigger buying events. I ran really good in the smaller stuff, so hopefully we can reverse that for twenty twenty four. Listen, my dads are not anybody. I don't include online, by the way, I know you check online. I don't have my online sets. I have my online stuff here. I'll go over it. I'll start with live poker. Sixty two tournaments played sixty four nine and fifty dollars in buyings. Average buying just over one thousand dollars, lost forty five, six hundred dollars. So absolutely got my face kicked in. That's only one month of your salary, right, that's fun. Yeah, you'll be right. Okay, if that was one month of my salary, I would be playing a lot bigger buying than the average buying one k only cashed six times, had some very long stretches of not cashing. But you know, that's just the game sometimes, I mean, it's just is what it is, you know. Talking to some of my friends who are professional poker players and play a lot higher than I do and all and you know, are a lot better than me, and all that sort of stuff. You know, they said a lot of times like they don't even get worried in stretches of like thirty or forty live events when they're not cashing. If it gets to like sixty, maybe they'll start to be like, okay, like I should, maybe I stually need to start looking at like my play a little bit. But they don't really get worried unless it's like eighty to one hundred, which seems wild to me. I mean, I've obviously been around poker enough that I can. I can. I've seen players go on super long stretches where it's like are they ever cashing? Type of thing, so I know that it can happen, but to sit through it and endure it is another thing. My best cash of the year was ten thy seven hundred dollars forty seventh place in the WA s W two K had a good run there, ultimately ran ace nine to Queen's Small Blind versus Big Blind or small and verse button, but whatever, it was a good run in that tournament. So certainly want to, you know, play more I I set out, I think it was fifty live tournaments was my goal to play. So I played a bit more than that. Yeah, I mean it was. It's a lot of fun to get out there. Certainly feel like I improved. Part of improving is you realize the mistakes that you're making easier. You know, you see them kind of in real time or much shorter after, you know, so obviously, like I think most poker players, I have, you know, holes I need to plug, but whatever, continue to just work on it. So yeah, that's live online poker. Two hundred and forty one tournaments played short of what I planned to play. I want to say I said four or five hundred, but I went some very long stretches with not playing online. It's I prefer live poker. I just I like it way more just being able to sit at the table. It's it's such like a given a take because I prefer live poker so much. I feel much more comfortab well playing live, like actually seeing people playing with chips, all that sort of stuff. It's just it's a much more enjoyable environment overall, Right, And I think I generally play better live that said online is like that's where you can get reps, that's where you can get volume way more, right, So you can also play a bit lower stakes for kind of equivalent amounts of money in a lot of spots. So, you know, I thought I was going to play a lot more online, but I ultimately didn't. So you know, it is what it is. But you know, things to I guess work towards in the next year. But two hundred and forty one tournaments played average buying of one hundred and eleven dollars just under twenty six nine hundred dollars in buying's total lost a staggering five hundred and fifteen dollars. WHOA. So this online stuff might change, you know, in these next couple of days for the entire year, because I'll probably play a little bit more online. Cashed fifty two times, so much better rate. That's the twenty one point six percent cash rate, so fairly decent there. Overall best cash was just over sixty three hundred dollars. I got a fifth place in a three hundred and twenty dollars online circuit event, so that was a good run there. Overall. You know, if you combine live and online, three hundred and three tournaments played average buying of just over three hundred dollars. My total buyings was ninety one, seven hundred and seventy dollars. I lost forty six two hundred and nine dollars. I cashed fifty eight times, which is, you know, just about nineteen percent. I think a little bit over so losing year. Had a losing year last year, I have a losing year this year again. But I'm not I'm happy with where my game is at. I feel like I'm losing a lot of very important hands late that are somewhat out of my control, which I think is fine. I'm definitely making some mistakes still, I get it, but a lot of my mistakes have been minimized and certainly not as important as they have been in years past. And then just on the losing, I mean, I think that that's just kind of tournament poker. I mean, you can just tournaments are hard like cash games are very much more static. You can kind of just grind out, grind out, grind out. Tournaments are much more dynamic. I think variants plays a much bigger role in tournaments than it does in cash games. So yeah, I mean I think if you probably took like every tournament poker player out there and like looked at their stats, everyone would be getting crushed. I mean, it's just it's really hard, you know, especially with some of the the buy ins and the volume that these guys put in. I mean, I talk to a lot of guys that play, you know, one hundred times the volume that I do, and ten times the buyings and the amount of money that they're down, even though they've had some massive, massive score you know that I can only dream about. It's just it's crazy, you know. It just really kind of grounds you and brings you to earth. But yeah, I'm gonna keep trying. I'm gonna try and increase my volume again next year, get better, you know, take some shots and and we'll see how we go. But yeah, that's those are my stats. So loser again, But hey, what are you gonna do? I'm still chasing climbing over one hundred K and winnings on hand to MOB. I don't know if I would be there if they included the online like they put the online stuff like in the on the results spage, but I don't think they included the number. Yeah, so I don't know if I would be there or not, who the heck knows. But yeah, you know, I still want to just like make a big final table, win a trophy event, like hit a big score, like all that sort of stuff. You know. I think I think I'm doing the work correctly to kind of set myself up to do that. I've been doing a lot of stuff on my own, but I I think I'm gonna explore getting coaching. I think that's a next step for me. But yeah, I've I've kind of always wanted to like try and prove to myself that I can do it on my own before getting coaching. You know, Like I feel like I wanted to get to some sort of level on my own and then like put some gasoline on the fire with coaching, Like that was kind of always the plan. So I don't know what I'm ultimately gonna do there, but we'll see, We'll see what happens, I guess. But but yeah, those are our those are our stats. You know, we're not very good. Huh, we're not very good plays. I mean, we bought loses on the well just say it. Listen. We we talked about some hand histories, and yours are dreadful don't look at me with me, Okay, don't look at me. I'm busting my ass and this is this ship is fucking hard. I'll tell you that much. So all right, what else we got to talk about? Family pot? You want to do a family pot? Sure? I mean we haven't. We haven't done one in a while. I haven't. Let's play the music, we haven't. Did I have to replace my old beanie? I got some poker books, some gift cards, you know, just the usual stuff. No, I had a good Christmas. We just went to uh the wife's sister's house for some grub. As always ate way too much food. But the kids had a great time. Kids are sick. I think I ate eighty thousand calories in like, yeah, three days. That's how I feel. It's not it's not healthy. Yeah, kids are playing with that toys. And daughter got everything Taylor Swift imaginable. So she loves us Swifty. Yeah, god, she's the worst. She gone to a Taylor Swift concert I think, yeah, she has okay, but yeah, I just felt like, I don't know, I always get to this point in the year and I'm just kind of wanted to be over because I want to kick into the next year, like I just want to, Like Chris, I don't know if your wife's the same as this, But Christmas happened. We actually open presents like the night before some but on Christmas Day, like the decorations were coming down. Tree wanted to like Leanne wanted to pack away the tree. And then by the next day everything was done. All the outside decorations I'd packed away. I wish it could be like that. Are you're the okay, I want to get Let's move on. Yeah, what haus is clean? There's no Christmas stuff up? Ready to start twenty twenty four's yeah, my my Christmas was good. So this is a this is a a funny little highlight of my Christmas. And this is gonna sound like a total flex but whatever, I don't care. We we all go on Christmas Eve, we all go over to my brother in law's house, which I have a complaint about. I think I've shared this complaint before, but every year it's the same thing. Everyone goes there. It's like, you do the whole thing at night. Then we watch Christmas Vacation, but like, yep, I can't keep doing the whole Christmas vacation thing. And my reasoning this year is I have a two and a half year old and a four month old. They didn't start the movie till I don't know, nine pm. I'm like we I'm like, babe, babe, we watching this movie like we're She's like no, we're watching I'm like, no, the hell with this transit addition, Like we gotta you gotta go, Like I'm not are you gonna like are we dealing with the two and a half years? It's gonna be up all night freaking out because she hasn't slept, Like no, like tomorrow, like what are we doing here? Like we got kids now? Like things change, Like I'm sorry, but like things just changed. So next year, I'm putting my foot down. I'm saying, listen, Christmas Vacation needs to start at seven, and if it doesn't, we're leaving. Okay, like end of story. That's just how it has to be. But the highlight slash flex is that eighty five percent of the family has teslas now, so so we we all rearranged them in the driveway and we turned the jingle light show on at the same time. Like there's seven teslas, and it was just it was fun because like my daughter was out there dancing to it the whole thing. Like it was just it was fun. And I know that sounds like a total like you know, flex thing, but whatever, it's you know, I haven't done that yet. It was the first time that I actually turned on the jingle as well, you know, and you can you can actually turn it on and like you can schedule it at a time, so like we all scheduled it at the same time. I all turned on at once, and the music's playing, the lights are flashing all in unison with like you know, seven tesla's all lined up. I mean, it was just it was it was the cool little thing that'll probably be our little like holiday thing. You know. We have. We have I think one or two new members of the family or whatever that are. We're all trying to push them to get a Tesla. Yeah, you know, just like I pushed him to get a Tesla. But yeah, by the way, I added the acceleration boost to my car because I had credits from referring you, and I was like, what am I going to use these credits for? And you know, you can use them for like I don't know, they have like Tesla apparel, Like you can enter a sweepstakes for a Tesla, like you can do you can get supercharger miles, you know, but I don't ever use the super charger because I'm not like going any where I would need one. And plus the supercharger miles expire in a year, so I was like, whatever, acceleration boost, let's go cars so much faster. Oh my god. I mean it's like it's outrageous. I mean it's the best thing ever. So it's just truly incredible. But yeah, Christmas is good. Daughters, like you know, fully understands Christmas understands Santa. She kept going around for like two weeks saying like, Santa's gonna bring me a doll, Dad, Santa's gonna bring me a doll. Well, now she has I think six dolls somehow, I don't know how that happened. I know we got her two. Then she got a doll from like every relative possible, which is just insane. So now she has way too many dolls, and she wants to, you know, every time she goes upstairs, she has to bring every single doll. Every time she comes downstairs, she wants to bring every single doll. So it's like I carry three, she carries two. Like, you know, it's this whole thing. She got a tricycle, which I don't think she's gotten off of period. It's a legit like vintage radio flyer, red try bicycle badass. So she's got that, and I mean it still like baffles me that she she's two and a half and like she just like got on the bike and like started pedaling, like she just knows. I'm just like that's pretty good. Like how do you know this stuff? You know? Yeah? So so yeah, it's it's great. The youngest one of the sun, I mean he's four months. He has, you know, no idea what's going on. Still, he just knows to laugh when his sister tries to make him laugh, you know. But overall things are things are pretty pretty good. Speaking touching on your movie thing, we actually normally watch Christmas Vacation. This year we didn't, but we put on a movie when we start eating. I think we put on Home Alone. So we eight. We're watching half watching Home Alone, half eating finished my third had some pie. Came usat on the couch to watch Home Alone. I already seen him four times this month, so I took a nap during Home Alone. Didn't want to watch it on the couch. Then next movie started. I kin't of remember what it was. I think it was elf. Caleb was reading his book, brought a book with him and we were annoying him on the couch while he was trying to read. So he went into the other living room to finish reading the book, and then he fell asleep reading the book. And then the third movie, I can't remember what it was. Third movie came on and my wife had her nap on the ground, So we put on three movies whatever. We're kind of craving, and we used that time to rotate the naps. Yeah, where were you all?
