And she's 86 00:06:57.519 --> 00:07:00.879 shopped around, She's gone to the biggest famous places in New York, in 87 00:07:01.000 --> 00:07:08.040 Boston, and yesterday she a lovely woman and her husband, gentle man, 88 00:07:08.759 --> 00:07:14.040 came for consultation and well, she has this rectal cancer. She's had an 89 00:07:14.160 --> 00:07:17.040 MRI which show an extensive disease. She's had a pet scan. There's no 90 00:07:17.319 --> 00:07:21.519 distant disease, there's no evidence of its spreading at this point to the liver 91 00:07:21.720 --> 00:07:26.720 or the long There was a scare and a cat scan that showed something in 92 00:07:26.759 --> 00:07:30.399 the liver, but subsequent tests showed that wasn't the case. So it's a 93 00:07:30.560 --> 00:07:35.839 very extensive local cancer. And she's already started chemotherapy. Had a super duper 94 00:07:35.959 --> 00:07:41.759 pooper famous place in Boston, so you can hear, and I often say, 95 00:07:41.759 --> 00:07:45.399 there's not only one super duper place. Every New York place thinks they're 96 00:07:45.519 --> 00:07:49.000 super duper, and in almost every city there's places that think they're super duper. 97 00:07:49.439 --> 00:07:56.519 And she already started chemo, and the plan for her elsewhere is to 98 00:07:56.560 --> 00:08:01.120 get months and months of chemo, which you know doesn't cure anyone with colorectal 99 00:08:01.199 --> 00:08:07.079 cancer, and then a course of radiation and then radical surgery, maybe even 100 00:08:07.160 --> 00:08:11.079 losing her rectum and her anus. That's what we talked about a few minutes 101 00:08:11.120 --> 00:08:16.720 ago, and her anus. Now she's thirty five, she's marriage, has 102 00:08:16.800 --> 00:08:22.399 no children, and of course she wishes to have children, and she's already 103 00:08:22.399 --> 00:08:26.199 started this treatment. So in Boston, she's starting a treatment with the usual 104 00:08:26.240 --> 00:08:31.200 treatment. I can tell you it's pretty much the same treatment that we gave 105 00:08:31.320 --> 00:08:37.360 in Boston. Forty years ago when I was at Harvard Medical School, Dana 106 00:08:37.440 --> 00:08:41.200 Farber, same treatment, months and months of chemo, weeks and weeks of 107 00:08:41.279 --> 00:08:48.039 radiation, then radical surgery, which is pretty deforming. They're proposed and doing 108 00:08:48.120 --> 00:08:50.840 that. Most likely she'll lose her anus, and that means control of her 109 00:08:50.919 --> 00:08:56.679 bowels. That means colostomy. It means that with the chemo and radiation how 110 00:08:56.720 --> 00:09:01.919 they're giving that, most likely she'll lose her eggs and her uterus to grow 111 00:09:01.960 --> 00:09:07.360 a baby. And she obviously is eager to have a baby and a child 112 00:09:07.480 --> 00:09:11.399 and children, and that's what she's doing.
